Red Bull Global Rallycross is pleased to announce a 12-race schedule, its largest ever, for the 2015 season. Once again featuring marquee stops in major urban environments, the
race calendar kicks off in sunny Florida on May 31 and ends with a return to the bright lights of Las Vegas on November 4.
Red Bull Global Rallycross is proud to announce a 12-race schedule for the 2015 GRC Lites season, kicking off in Florida on May 31 and culminating in Las Vegas in November. In
addition, GRC Lites races will be telecast as a standalone program for the first time in series history. The series will be featured in nine 30-minute shows, each telecast on NBCSN on
weekdays following Red Bull GRC race weekends.
“The 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross schedule stands to be our best yet,” said Colin Dyne, Red Bull GRC CEO. “The combination of one of the strongest calendars in all of
motorsports, as well as one of racing’s best broadcast packages, thanks to our partnership with NBC Sports Group, is one that will take the racing world by storm this year. With
more races and points on the line, we expect to see a thrilling chase for the championship. We are grateful to our many partners for their support throughout the 2014 season, as
well as NBC for a fantastic job in their event broadcasts, and we look forward to bringing these relationships into 2015.”
“We are delighted to announce the 2015 schedule and first standalone broadcast slate for the GRC Lites class,” said Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne. “GRC Lites is an important feeder
series for Red Bull Global Rallycross, and the source of our future champions for years to come. We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic partners at NBC Sports Group for helping
us ensure that the future stars of our sport make it to television, and we know that our fans will be excited to watch the most talented young drivers in the world.”

The 2015 points championship features 12 rounds at eight unique venues, including several of the series’ most familiar stops from seasons past. This year’s calendar is also marked
with four doubleheader events, including the second straight doubleheader in the series’ home city of Los Angeles, and the expansion of the series’ popular Barbados race. Red Bull
Global Rallycross will also return to the NBC family of networks for the 2015 season, with 14.5 hours of original content, an increase of 4.5 hours from the 2014 season.
With a 12-race schedule, its longest ever, the third season of GRC Lites competition will be the most intense in series history. The eight-city tour includes four doubleheader events,
as well as the class’ first trip outside of the United States with an October visit to Barbados.
In addition to the above, Red Bull Global Rallycross will return to Circuit of the Americas as event organizer for X Games Austin 2015. The event will feature an invitational format
and will not count for points as part of the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross championship. Qualifying and heat races will take place on Friday, June 5, and final heat races and the
main event will conclude on Saturday, June 6.

Introduced in 2013, GRC Lites is the official feeder series of Red Bull Global Rallycross. GRC Lites races feature 310 bhp, all-wheel drive spec vehicles built to emphasize driver
skill over mechanical advantage. Competing on the same courses as Red Bull GRC Supercars, the class is designed to provide future stars with the ideal rallycross training ground.
Defending Supercar champion Joni Wiman won the inaugural GRC Lites title in 2013, while Mitchell DeJong won last year’s Lites championship.

The Fan Experience
Red Bull Global Rallycross features a unique and unparalleled viewing experience for our fans. Each ticket grants access to the series’ paddock, allowing fans to meet and interact
with drivers, and watch mechanics at work. In addition, each event features an all-series autograph session at the beginning of the race weekend, with the majority of drivers
sticking around post-race for additional autograph signing and fan interaction.
The Cars
Red Bull Global Rallycross Supercars roll off the line as production vehicles, before undergoing extensive modifications to become suitable for competition. Producing up to 600
horsepower, these all-wheel drive vehicles accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in under two seconds, while drivers juggle multiple racing surfaces without the benefit of electronic
traction aids. Ford, Subaru, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Chevrolet all serve as official manufacturer partners of the series.
GRC Lites vehicles were developed by Olsbergs MSE, a three-time Red Bull GRC Supercar championship-winning team, as the ultimate development tool for future rallycross
superstars. These purpose-built, all-wheel drive racecars produce 310 horsepower, simulating the feel and handling of the top level Supercars while providing drivers an opportunity
to hone their skills.
The Competitors
Red Bull Global Rallycross drivers come from some of the most diverse backgrounds in all of professional motorsport. The field is a melting pot of action sports legends, stunt driving
innovators, and professional racing superstars with international experience. These drivers come from across the globe, representing four continents and nearly a dozen countries.
The series’ race teams boast global experience competing in stage rally, open-wheel racing, and drifting, among numerous other disciplines. Their accolades include Indianapolis
500 victories, national and international rally championships, and X Games gold medals.
Strategy
Red Bull Global Rallycross races feature multiple elements designed to cram the most action possible into short, intense racing sessions. With cars on track for only minutes at a
time, these obstacles test competitors’ focus as they battle both the elements and their rivals.
• The Track features a mixture of racing surfaces—a paved section and a loose surface section, comprised of dirt, gravel, or sand. The highlight of the loose surface section is
the series’ signature Jump, which sees drivers flying upwards of 70 feet. Because of the portable nature of the courses, Red Bull GRC tracks can be built almost anywhere.
• Each driver is allowed to take the Joker Lap once per event. The Joker Lap consists of a shortcut lane that shaves seconds off a driver’s lap time, allowing them to separate
themselves from their opponents or make a late-race pass for position.
• The Penalty Box is designed to keep events running quickly with minimal downtime caused by on-track infractions. Drivers who commit penalties such as jump starts,
overly aggressive driving, or taking the Joker Lap more than once are sent to the Penalty Box for a stop-and-go penalty. If an infraction occurs too late in the race, a time
penalty is assessed.
Race Format
Red Bull Global Rallycross events feature six types of sessions:
• Drivers take part in one or two Practice sessions to set up their vehicles for the event. They can compete in as many four-lap sessions as they choose until they find a
comfortable setup and optimal lines for the event.
• Seeding (or qualifying) sees drivers broken up into two groups, with each group getting a brief period of time on the track. The fastest six drivers (three per group) then
advance to the final round of seeding, with their starting positions determined by their second-round lap times.
• Each class competes in one or two rounds of Heats over the course of the event. These six-lap races are run for points in the series Championship. A driver’s finishing
position determines their lane choice in the next session.
• The Semifinals take place to set the grid for the final two sessions of the event. The top three drivers in each semifinal advance to the Final, while the rest of the field
moves onto the Last Chance Qualifier.
• The Last Chance Qualifier is a four-lap battle between all cars that have not already qualified for the Final. The top four drivers advance, while the remaining drivers go
home.
• The Final is a 10-lap dash between 10 cars for all the glory and remaining championship points.
Championship Points
Red Bull Global Rallycross points are awarded to drivers who have committed to running at least half of the series’ events. Points are awarded in the following intervals:

Los Angeles is the home of Red Bull Global Rallycross and its longest-serving host city, having
hosted its first-ever event at Irwindale Speedway in March 2011.
From those humble beginnings, Red Bull GRC’s annual Los Angeles visit has grown into a

Red Bull Global Rallycross staged its first international, non-X Games event last May in conjunction with Top Gear Festival Barbados. While Top Gear US host Tanner Foust joined his British counterparts in hijinks and Ken Block used his Supercar to race against Lewis Hamilton’s
Formula 1 ride, the Red Bull GRC racing itself stole the show with a thrilling main event.
Las Vegas is a car lover’s paradise in early November, as the automotive world’s biggest
names descend upon Sin City for the SEMA Show each year. During that week, Red Bull GRC
has found a popular home for its season finale round.
The event was such a success that Red Bull GRC will return to Bushy Park Barbados for another
visit in 2015—this time a doubleheader.
Scott Speed will look to defend his 2014 victory on the slightly reconfigured course, while GRC
Lites will also stage its first international rounds as a support show.

him for the title by five points.

2013 was Steve Arpin’s rookie year in Red Bull Global Rallycross. 2014 was his adjustment year, where he applied the
lessons he’d learned toward becoming more consistent and running up front.
If all goes to plan, 2015 will be his breakout year.

After two years piloting the OMSE2 car, Arpin moves over to the brand new Chip Ganassi Racing outfit to race a brandnew, M-Sport built Ford Fiesta ST. It’s the same equipment that Ken Block has piloted to three wins and a pair of
top-three championship results in the past two years, and the kind of ride that every driver in the paddock covets.
Arpin’s early results from last year suggest that he’s not too far off from putting up similar numbers. The first half
of 2014 suggested a potential breakout year, with a podium at Top Gear Festival Barbados and consistent finishes
keeping him in the top three in points through the first half of the year. Only later in the season did the wheels begin to
fall off, with mechanical troubles plaguing both car and driver and preventing him from finishing as strongly.
With Ganassi’s expertise behind him—the CGR squad boasts 15 drivers’ titles and over 150 race victories in numerous
racing series—the Canadian suddenly finds himself as a potential championship favorite in 2015, or at least a
potential first-time race winner. Regardless of what he accomplishes this year, it’ll go down well with the fans: Arpin
has been a top-three finisher in each of the past two Fan Favorite Driver of the Year voting results.

2014 was a tale of two seasons for Nelson Piquet Jr. in Red Bull Global Rallycross.
The first half of the year was as impressive as anything that any driver managed to do all year. Piquet took four
podiums and a fourth place in the first five races, taking the Supercar lead in New York and extending it to an
impressive 46-point margin at the halfway point in Charlotte.

He even moonlighted in a pair of Lites races to help acclimate himself to all-wheel drive racing, taking a podium in
Washington DC—becoming the only driver in series history to podium in both classes on the same weekend.
Unfortunately, the run didn’t last. After a so-so weekend in Daytona, the Los Angeles doubleheader ate away Piquet’s
entire championship lead and dropped him from the points lead. He recovered with a fourth place run in Seattle and
appeared confident in Las Vegas, but mechanical failure left him out of the main event and ended his season where it
started—fourth overall in series points.
With lessons learned from last season, both in how to get the most out of his car and how his opponents plan to race
him, expect Piquet to minimize mistakes and contend for the championship once again.

Everyone who knows anything about rallycross knows that Sverre Isachsen is among the best in the business. A threetime champion in Europe, he’s been the ace for Subaru Rally Team USA for the past three years. He gave the team its

Titles are a familiar concept for both driver and team, as the Subaru squad’s dominance in stage rally over the

The 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross season saw two rookies graduate from GRC Lites to the premier Supercar class. The
story of the first, championship winner Joni Wiman, is well-known by now. But while Austin Dyne, the second, may not
have taken any podium finishes, he did a few things that were even more impressive than what Wiman pulled off.

The most important: Dyne was one of only two drivers to make it to each of the first eight main events of the season, a
feat matched only by Scott Speed. His finest performances came in X Games Austin, where he took a win and second
place in two consecutive do-or-die heats, and Daytona, where an impressive semifinal victory landed him on the front
row for the main event.
Dyne’s sophomore season will be about building on that momentum. With a new car (an M-Sport build) and an
increased commitment from Bryan Herta Autosport, he’ll certainly have the tools to do it.
Before moving up last year, the Los Angeles native weighed his options in both Supercar and Lites for 2014, with the
decision predicated by one question: which series will make me a more competitive Supercar driver in 2015? Now that
it’s 2015, we get to see if he made the right decision. If his comfort level from last season is any indication, signs point
to “yes.”

But open the door to that Fiesta and follow it to the paddock, and it’s clear that this isn’t the same situation as it was
the past two years.
Sandell becomes the latest product of the Olsbergs MSE driver farm to move onto new pastures, joining Austin Dyne
at Bryan Herta Autosport in an M-Sport build. The move comes on the heels of Sandell’s second consecutive sixth
place finish in series points, a more consistent affair than 2013’s streaky result but not quite in the realm of title
consideration at season’s end.
So instead of driving alongside defending Supercar champ Joni Wiman at OMSE, Sandell will be among those
competing against him. Not that this should bother him in the slightest— after all, the Swede won the Junior World
Rally Championship in 2006 and feels more than ready to add another trophy to his mantle this season.
Sandell’s motto, borrowed from the legendary Colin McRae, is “when in doubt, flat out.” Perhaps the competition’s
mantra should be “when Sandell is out, watch out.”

“The Rookie,” as he was coined, didn’t produce the stats that championship runner-up Ken Block did. Block beat him
on wins (two to zero), podiums (six to five), and heat wins (16 to 10). What Wiman did outdo Block at, however, was
consistency—eight top five finishes made up the difference and gave him the advantage going into the season finale
in Las Vegas, where they’d face off head to head.
With Block in the lead and on the way to a perfect weekend, it was up to Wiman to prove that he was worthy of the
title. Halfway through the main event, he darted to the joker lane, climbed from fourth to second, and seized the
championship by a single finishing position.
2015 will see Wiman attempt to defend his crown against a field of hungry drivers, and to back it up, chances are he’ll
need to take a race victory. But other than that, the only thing he needs to change from last year is his nickname—the
champion isn’t a rookie anymore.

Expectations were high from day one, as Volkswagen and Andretti Autosport recruited Foust to be the lead driver on the
brand new Beetle rallycross project. Though the two-time series champion would have to drive a Polo until the Beetle
was race ready, he still managed to score a record-tying fifth Supercar victory at Volkswagen Rallycross NY before
giving the new ride a proper “hello” with a debut heat win in Los Angeles. By year’s end, Foust was one of only four
drivers with double-digit heat victories.
Unfortunately, the downs outnumbered the ups, removing the series’ most prolific driver (and two-time Fan Favorite
Driver of the Year) from title contention early in the year. A double joker in the Barbados last chance qualifier and
rollover in the X Games Austin quarterfinals means that Foust missed the first two finals of the year. Though he won
three LCQs from there, no driver plans to spend that much time racing in the do-or-die round. Engine trouble in Los
Angeles and contact in the Seattle final spoiled the Beetle’s first two weekends, while a semifinal incident in Las Vegas
meant another LCQ and another mid-pack finish.
With the Beetle in his hands from day one and a clean slate to work with, it’s time for Foust to get his revenge on the
field for a difficult 2014. If anyone can pull that off, he’s the guy.

Yes, that’s the freestyle motocross pioneer Brian Deegan who invented the ghost ride, founded the Metal Mulisha, and
currently owns a monster truck. Yes, that’s also the racing legend Chip Ganassi whose resume boasts Indianapolis 500,
Daytona 500, and Rolex 24 victories. And yes, one of them is driving for the other one this year in a majority of Red
Bull GRC events.
In so many ways, the partnership is a reflection of the key trait of both: neither will settle for anything less than the
best. Ganassi is known for either signing the best available drivers or developing the most promising young talents
elsewhere in the racing world, and Deegan’s standards—both for himself and those around him—are always
incredibly high. For what other reason would Deegan leave Olsbergs MSE, the team that brought him into the sport,
helped him win an X Games gold medal in 2011, and took him to the podium in half of his 24 Red Bull GRC starts so
far?
The idea of Deegan running Ganassi’s M-Sport equipment, given the speed that Ken Block has shown in it for the past
two years, is downright scary. Whether he runs a limited schedule like he did in 2014 or not, this is a championshipcaliber combination.

Speed, winner of the first two races of the year, had a rough outing in DC that helped Nelson Piquet Jr. pull nearly even
in the points race. The two-time X Games gold medalist finished second to Piquet’s third the next month in New York,
but after unapproved actions during the red flag, Speed fell to ninth in the running order—a 35-point drop, with all
three title contenders (Piquet, Joni Wiman, and Ken Block) gaining an extra five points apiece.
So it goes. Speed still won a Supercar-leading three races, all of them coming in a year-old Polo, to tie for the most in
series history. When he finally got the long-awaited Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle in Las Vegas, he rocketed to
his third pole of the year (also best in the class) and took his 12th and 13th heat victories of the year before coming
home fourth in the main event—the Beetle’s best finish so far.
For the past year, Speed has raved about how quick the Beetle is going to be, and he showed flashes of that in the
Vegas finale. Combine that quickness with his knack for finding the top step of the podium and he just might run away
with this year’s championship.

That’s one finishing position over the entire course of the season, and it came down to the wire in the season finale in
Las Vegas. For the second straight year, Block dominated the event, posting a perfect 56-point race on the way to the
win. But when Joni Wiman jumped past Scott Speed and Bucky Lasek to go from fourth to second in the final, what
would have been a five-point advantage turned into a five-point deficit, with nowhere further ahead for Block to go.
Still, take out the rollover in Barbados—which came in a fight for the lead with Wiman—and the joker lane contact
in Seattle, and Block was perhaps the best driver in the series last year. Leading the series with 16 heat wins and six
podiums, the “Head Hoonigan in Charge” showed up as a favorite for the win every weekend. He also posted the first
perfect weekend under the current race format in Charlotte: the top seed in qualifying, plus wins in both heats, the
semifinal, and the final.
The blueprint for success in 2015 is simple: Block needs to keep doing what made him successful last year. He’ll need
to minimize the points effect of bad races—even mid-pack finishes in off races would make a difference—but it’s
hard not to crown him as the championship favorite.

Believe it or not, it happened. Of Lasek’s 20 X Games medals, 19 come from the world of skateboarding, but over
the past three years the Maryland native has quietly become one of the marquee drivers in Red Bull GRC with the fan
favorite Subaru Rally Team USA squad. In a year full of firsts, Lasek clawed his way to a career-best eighth place in
series standings, with his eye on something greater this year.
The most important first from 2014 came in the second race of the year at X Games Austin, when Lasek drove a clean
and confident final to finish second and grab his first rallycross medal. His first heat victory came in Charlotte, another
podium came in Daytona, and twice Lasek outraced Scott Speed and the much-heralded Volkswagen Beetle in Vegas,
beating him head-to-head in the semifinal and overcoming heavy contact at the start of the main event to hold off a
hard-charging Speed on the restart.
It wasn’t just an impressive season “for a skateboarder.” It was an impressive season, period.
Now, in year four of his Red Bull GRC career, Lasek will take a new (but heavily developed) WRX STI to the grid in
hopes of taking his first main event victory. If last year’s performance is any indication, there’s a good chance that he’ll
be on the top step of the podium sooner than later.

Much like his teammate, Eriksson has a chance to come in and surprise the field. Wiman was mostly unheralded as
a Supercar driver coming into 2014, and by the time the field realized that he was a bona fide title threat, he had
already taken the points lead for good. The field may similarly underestimate Eriksson, since they haven’t raced against
him yet, but with a year spent racing a Supercar already, he may be even better equipped to succeed than Wiman was.
One thing is for sure: after falling short of the Lites title two years ago, Eriksson is determined to beat his new
teammate this time around. If he can beat the defending champion, there’s a good chance that he can become the new
one.

Victor Gonzalez Jr. may be a newcomer to Red Bull Global Rallycross, but he’s no stranger to competing at racing’s
highest levels.
From a stint in the North American Touring Car Championship in the mid-1990s, to various open-wheel series in the
early 2000s, to two starts in the 24 Hours of Daytona, Gonzalez spent over a decade making a name for himself as a
skilled road course driver. Those skills enabled him to become NASCAR’s first Puerto Rican driver in 2009, and even
took him to the Sprint Cup level in 2013.
After a year spent racing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo, where he took a victory at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, he
makes the jump to a Red Bull GRC Supercar for Rhys Millen Racing in 2015. He’ll inherit the same model Hyundai
Veloster Turbo that Millen himself took to two race victories last season, once at the larger Daytona course and once in
the Los Angeles doubleheader.
While Red Bull GRC will be his first off-road racing experience, Gonzalez’s extensive road course experience should prove
an asset as he looks to adapt; many of last year’s top drivers, including Scott Speed, Nelson Piquet Jr., and defending
champion Joni Wiman, come from a similar background. After the initial adjustment period, that could bode well for
Puerto Rico’s first rallycross driver.

Red Bull Global Rallycross fans rejoice: Travis Pastrana is back!
The action sports wunderkind gave the series an added boost last fall, adding the Los Angeles doubleheader to a 2014
schedule that had previously only included X Games Austin. Returning to Subaru Rally Team USA after a two-year foray
into team ownership, Pastrana posted top-10 finishes in all three of his starts and even took a pair of heat victories.

Going up against a field where a majority of his opponents race each other in every event, that’s not bad at all.
Granted, Pastrana’s talent behind the wheel has always been clear. A four-time stage rally champion, he was one of
the seminal figures in the sport’s recent boom in America and a multi-time X Games gold medalist. He’s run up front in
nearly every Red Bull GRC event he’s ever competed in, usually finding a way to make it to the main event no matter
how fast his car was. His flamboyant driving style entertains the fans, but he’s also cerebral enough to adapt his lines
based on input from his team and improve his lap times.
The bigger question with Pastrana, owing to his numerous commitments around the world, is always how much we’re
going to see him. It may not be everywhere, but it should be enough to keep a majority of the fans happy.

After earning an impressive runner-up finish at Charlotte in 2013 and no DNFs all season, Sykes entered last year with
high hopes. He was in medal contention in the season opener at X Games Austin before a mechanical failure, but from
there he was unable to crack the podium again.
That’s not to say that there weren’t opportunities. On speed, Sykes was the clear-cut best of the rest behind Mitchell
DeJong in both Daytona and Seattle. But a false start in the Daytona final sent him to the back of the pack, and major
damage in the Seattle heats kept him from getting past the field that day.
In the end, with nothing to gain in the Las Vegas finale, Sykes skipped the season ended and went home sixth in Lites
points for the second year in a row.
Expect loftier goals once again in year three. Sykes has made it clear that his goal is to get into Supercar, but it may
take a few more strong Lites runs to convince a top-level team to bite. If that’s the case, he’ll be hungrier than ever to
get back on the podium.

education (science, technology, engineering and

years old, studying mechanical engineering and
entrepreneurship at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University in Daytona Beach, FL—just minutes
away from Daytona International Speedway.
Patrik Sandell and Austin Dyne are the present for Bryan Herta Rallysport, but Collete Davis is the future.
Davis makes the switch from open-wheel racing to rallycross in 2015, bringing her River Racing backing to Herta’s new
team. She will be the lone GRC Lites driver for the team, with an eye on moving up to the Supercar class within the next
few years.
Before switching to GRC Lites, Davis cut her teeth in karting and learned racecraft at the Skip Barber Racing School
while competing in numerous SCCA club racing events. After winning her first racing championship at 15 years old, she
moved up to USF2000 racing, making her debut in the class in 2012.
Davis only put together her program with BHR a few days before Red Bull Global Rallycross media day in April,
but throughout her career, she’s proven to be a quick study (literally, in fact; she enrolled in college at 16). Davis
underwent numerous one-on-one training sessions to help her adjust to all-wheel drive vehicles and loose surfaces.
Away from the track, Davis is an accomplished entrepreneur, having co-founded TechDrive as a news site to cover
technology and transportation innovation last year. Davis is also a part of Rothenberg Ventures, a private venture
capital firm based in San Francisco, which helps sponsor her program through its River program for virtual reality
startups.

Whitten was one of a select few drivers chosen
by Olsbergs MSE to develop the GRC Lites
vehicle in 2012, readying it for its first season
of competition in 2013. Out of this year’s rookie
class, he has by far the most seat time in a Lites
vehicle.
Olsbergs MSE GRC Lites
He may be a GRC Lites rookie for 2015, but Tanner Whitten is no stranger to the car. Serving as one of its initial test
drivers during the vehicle’s development in 2012, the Illinois native finally gets to show his skills going wheel-to-wheel
with the sport’s future stars.
Not that he hasn’t been keeping busy. In 2013, Whitten got behind the wheel of an Isringhausen Motorsports Porsche
in the Intercontinental Trophy Cup Series, punctuating his time in the seat with a win at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
That trophy joins his 2010 NASCAR Whelen Series Rookie of the Year award and five starts in the K&N Series.
He’ll make his Lites debut in Ft. Lauderdale with the backing of DirtFish—the rally school whose involvement in the
series has gone from event venue to primary sponsor (for David Higgins last season) to full-blown Lites entrant. DirtFish
mechanics have spent the past two years supporting Travis Pastrana’s entries in Red Bull GRC, making the organization
a perfect fit for a young driver.
Last year’s rookie class took some time to acclimate to Lites competition, with only one first-timer cracking the top
two in the first half of the season. But with Whitten’s experience behind the wheel of these 310-horsepower beasts, it
shouldn’t take him long to find the podium—or even the top step of it.

It’s easy to make an argument that the Eriksson family is the first family of Red Bull Global Rallycross. Patriarch
Andreas owns Olsbergs MSE, the only Supercar championship-winning organization in Red Bull GRC’s four-year history,
and himself a race winner during a one-off appearance in 2011. His older son, Kevin, placed second in last year’s GRC
Lites standings with two race victories and podiums in six of his seven starts.
That pedigree might put a lot of pressure on younger brother Oliver to run for this year’s title, but rest assured—the
kid’s ready to make it happen.
Eriksson made a cameo appearance in last year’s New York round that eventually expanded his schedule into a
three-race program. After impressing with a fourth place finish, OMSE gave him a chance to race once again the next
week in Charlotte, and he broke out: after stealing a heat victory from Alejandro Fernandez on Friday night, he took
his first podium finish in a Lites main event the following day. Not bad for being new to the Lites car, but not a total
surprise: Eriksson, like so many Scandinavian drivers before him, honed his skills in folkrace events before taking the
step forward.
This season Eriksson will be the team’s key player in the title chase. He’s young, but he’s fast, and age has never kept
drivers off of the top step of the podium before. It’ll be a surprise if Oliver doesn’t find a way to become the third racewinning Eriksson in Red Bull GRC history this year.

series in Durban, South Africa on February 25,
2007.
Rhys Millen Racing GRC Lites
The sport of rallycross is all about a diverse racing background. Some of Red Bull GRC’s most successful drivers have
raced everything from open wheel to stock cars, and done so at the highest level. Count GRC Lites newcomer Nur Ali
among the drivers with that kind of experience.
Born in Pakistan, bitten by the racing bug as a youth in Germany, and growing up in the United States, Ali’s global
upbringing foreshadowed his global racing aspirations. After years of racing in Formula Mazda, Ali made the giant step
into A1GP in 2006, where he was one of only two drivers to start every race in the series’ second season on behalf of
Pakistan.
From there, Ali shifted his focus to stock cars, debuting in ARCA in 2008 before moving up to the NASCAR Nationwide
Series in 2012. Most recently, Ali won the overall track championship at the famed Texas Motor Speedway in the Lone
Star Legends Championship.
Rallycross will be a new experience for Ali, as his 17 years on track have thus far not included any racing on dirt. But
that didn’t stop Scott Speed from winning his first-ever rallycross event at X Games Brazil in 2013, and it didn’t keep
Nelson Piquet Jr. from contending for the 2014 Supercar title with a streak of four consecutive podiums.

Heinricher was appointed the first ambassador
for the Manadoob Program for Self-Esteem, a
charitable endeavor that empowers children to
stand up for themselves and prevent bullying
and peer pressure.
Good luck finding a more unique path to GRC Lites than the one that Jackie Heinricher has taken.
Heinricher’s background is in biotechnology: she spent 15 years running Booshoot, a multimillion-dollar organization
that cloned and grew bamboo plants for responsible domestic use. Introduced to performance driving just a few short
years ago, Heinricher took to motorsports like a natural, soon setting her sights much higher than driving schools.
Fast-forward to 2014, and those professional racing dreams were coming true. Heinricher became the only female
driver competing in Ferrari Challenge worldwide, advancing to the World Finals in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, she
supplemented her sports car racing program with time in a Lola Formula 3 car at Sonoma Raceway.
After watching GRC Lites compete in her hometown event at DirtFish Rally School last year, she decided to add a Lites
car to her private arsenal—but strong testing results convinced her to enter the series, becoming Lites’ first female
driver. She’ll be racing alongside Harry Cheung, a fellow Ferrari Challenge veteran, and will rely on the tutelage of twotime Red Bull GRC race winner and former Pikes Peak world record holder Rhys Millen, who will manage the two-car
squad.
Ali will be hoping that a similar background will give him similar title hopes in Lites.
Clean and consistent elsewhere in the racing world, Heinricher will be looking to apply those concepts to her rallycross
debut in 2015. She’s got the right team behind her, and plenty of testing time this offseason.

Keyes’ Formula Pro Mazda championship last
season saw him win 10 races in 12 starts,
including full weekend sweeps at four different
tracks: Sonoma Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway,
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and Portland
International Raceway.
Could Alex Keyes be the next young, talented open-wheeler to jump into a GRC Lites car and find success? There are
certainly plenty of people who think so.
Though he’ll only be turning 18 two weeks before the season starts, Keyes has already amassed an impressive resume
racing across the United States in multiple disciplines. Moving through the karting ranks, he became the latest young
talent to join the illustrious Lynx Racing two years ago—racing in Pacific Formula 1600 in 2013 and winning last
year’s Formula Pro Mazda championship for the organization that developed such racing stars as Buddy Rice, Patrick
Carpentier, and Memo Gidley, among many others.
He’ll align with yet another renowned organization this year, joining Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in Lites. DRR, which
made its Red Bull GRC debut at X Games Los Angeles in 2013 in conjunction with SH Racing and driver Scott Speed,
has campaigned IndyCars for the past 15 years, taking five top-10s in the Indianapolis 500, including ninth place with
Sage Karam last year.
Keyes has spent time at multiple rally driving schools in the offseason preparing for the new challenge, adapting his
road racing experience to loose surfaces. Combine that with the karting and open-wheel experience that has produced
such great results for other Lites drivers—as well as coaching from Rice, an Indianapolis 500 and 24 Hours of Daytona
winner—and Keyes might just be the next California kid to challenge for a Lites championship.

Austin Cindric has all the talent to be Red Bull Global Rallycross’ next superstar.
The son of Penske Racing’s Tim Cindric has turned fast laps in everything from stock cars at Daytona to sports cars in
Bathurst. Everywhere he’s gone, he’s found success, and quickly—in fact, he earned an X Games medal in his very
first GRC Lites start in Austin last June. With a full schedule on his plate this year, we’ll get to see what he can do when
he’s running for a championships.
Conflicting commitments kept Cindric away from the events in New York and Daytona, but he still placed fifth in the
Lites standings with 257 points. It’s not out of the question that he could’ve climbed to as high as second with the
points he would’ve earned in the events he missed.
Interestingly enough, for a driver with a fully pavement background, Cindric excelled on dirt-heavy tracks in 2014,
turning laps that paced the field in Charlotte practice and taking a season-best second place in Seattle. That’s bad news
for the competition.
For Cindric, the 2015 season represents a year of opportunity. Splitting time between GRC Lites and sports cars, he’ll be
running for dual championships, with a good showing in either foreshadowing a move up the ranks next year. If he’s in
the Lites title hunt, or even takes the championship home, he just might be in a Supercar for 2016.

After a year away from rallycross, Harry Cheung is back in the saddle in GRC Lites in 2015.
The longtime sports car racer, who began his racing career after spending time at Google as one of the brand’s original
employees, was one of the original Lites drivers in 2013. His car was among the most popular in all of Red Bull Global
Rallycross, featuring a striking orange livery with comic book speech bubbles. In a learning year, Cheung found his way
into the main event multiple times and took eighth in the Lites standings despite missing the Las Vegas finale.
Since his last race in a Lites car, Cheung has been busy racing in Ferrari Challenge, the discipline where he made his
name as a driver before sampling rallycross. He took two wins in the World Finals at the end of 2013 and another
victory in Laguna Seca last May to go alongside four poles.
Now, he gets to see if he can match those results over a 12-race season.
Last year, most of the front-running drivers in Lites were the ones with a full season of experience under their belt.
Though Cheung’s experience came over a year ago, it’s not unprecedented to see a driver return to Red Bull GRC after
an absence and run up front. The San Francisco native will be running hard to make sure that’s the case.

Colombia’s first Red Bull Global Rallycross driver was GRC Lites’ fan favorite in 2014. This year, he’ll be a
championship favorite.
Alejandro Fernandez spent the first half of his rookie Lites season paying his dues and adapting to the car. Though he
missed the main event in the season opener at X Games Austin, Fernandez and his family-funded team took the miss
in stride and pushed forward. He took his first podium at Daytona International Speedway in August, and from there he
snagged two more, in the second race at the Port of Los Angeles and six days later at DirtFish Rally School.
The late-season surge enabled him to climb to third in points, within striking distance of runner-up and international
Lites champion Kevin Eriksson. Not bad for a rookie.
Fernandez’s ascent through the world of motorsports has come in only a few short years. After racing BMX bikes, he
switched to go-karts and raced in some of the top events in the world under the tutelage of Indianapolis 500 winner
Buddy Rice. That experience was enough to put together a Lites program last year, and the Bogota-born Fernandez
hasn’t looked back since.
Last year’s Lites champion, Mitchell DeJong, finished third in points as a rookie before a breakout season last year. It
won’t be a shock if Fernandez does the same thing in 2015.

Round 1: TOP GEAR FESTIVAL BARBADOS
MAY 17-18, 2014
BUSHY PARK BARBADOS // .801 miles
CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS // .455 miles
The 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross season opened in beautiful Barbados as part of the first-ever Top Gear Festival
Barbados. While the antics of the world-famous Top Gear hosts dazzled the crowd—including segments featuring Red Bull
GRC drivers Ken Block and Tanner Foust—it was the racing action that stole the show.
For the first time, X Games moved from its longtime home in Los Angeles to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX. America’s
home for Formula 1 would suddenly become its home for rallycross at the highest level, as turns 12 through 16 of the
world-renowned road course would be converted into a multi-surface course.
Nelson Piquet Jr. opened up the season with the fastest qualifying speed, proving that he and the SH Racing Rallycross
squad, now full-time after a one-off appearance at X Games in 2013, would be a force to be reckoned with. Piquet, Foust,
and Scott Speed—the latter two making their debut for Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross—would win the first round of
heats on Saturday, setting the stage for two more rounds of action for points on Sunday.
The X Games race format would differ from every other Red Bull GRC event in 2014: instead of a semifinal round, an LCQ
and final, the event would feature single-elimination quarterfinals and semifinals to whittle the field down from 19 cars to
six. That drastically different race format, combined with a tight and technical course, led to numerous big names falling
out early; Tanner Foust rolled over in the quarterfinals, while Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, and Brian Deegan each bowed out
in the semifinal round.
A mechanical failure for Speed in round two put him up against Foust in the final round of heats. While pressuring his
teammate, Speed caused Foust to overjump, landing so heavily that the right side door fell off of his car. Foust would earn
a disqualification for spinning and causing a red flag in the heat, sending him to the LCQ. He crossed the line first, but
after taking the joker twice, he earned a 10-second penalty that removed him from the final.
A wild main event began with rookie Joni Wiman passing Block on lap one, causing Block to dive aggressively to the
inside of the final corner, hit a curb and flip his car. He was unharmed, but the race would require a restart. Wiman took a
commanding lead in the restart but also jokered twice, yielding to Speed. Steve Arpin used the joker to jump from seventh
to second, and Brian Deegan completed the podium in a quiet but consistent run.

with Lasek and Doran inheriting the medal spots from Piquet after a stop in the penalty box. But Doran spun in the final
corner, yielding the bronze to Piquet after he failed to get the car restarted in time.
In GRC Lites, Mitchell DeJong set the tone for the rest of the season, putting on a clinic on the way to his second X Games
medal. Olsbergs MSE teammate Kevin Eriksson took the silver, while Austin Cindric outlasted Geoff Sykes to take the
bronze in his first-ever race experience on dirt.

Round 3: VOLKSWAGEN RALLYCROSS DC
JUNE 21-22, 2014
RFK Stadium // .506 miles
Volkswagen made an impressive entrance into Red Bull Global Rallycross for the 2014 season, not only backing a two-car
team for drivers Tanner Foust and Scott Speed but also committing to two primary event sponsorships. The first, to be
held in Washington DC, represented only the second time in 90 years that a major-league racing series had come to the
nation’s capital.
To celebrate the event, Red Bull sent driver Rhys Millen out on the city streets for a joyride, capturing footage of his
600-horsepower Hyundai Veloster Turbo drifting past iconic DC landmarks. But it wasn’t Millen, or either of the VW drivers,
who adapted the quickest to the course: it was the Ford trio of Joni Wiman and Patrik Sandell of Olsbergs MSE, and Nelson
Piquet Jr. of SH Racing Rallycross. Each won their first two heats, while the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross squad sat on
the sidelines with two unrelated, freak engine issues.
Piquet and Steve Arpin would win the two semifinals, while Speed returned to the grid and raced his way in. Foust would
need the last chance qualifier, which he won in dominant fashion. In the main event, Sandell had the best start and
grabbed the lead over Piquet, while Wiman, Arpin, and Foust would jostle for the final spot on the podium, finishing in
that order.
NASSAU VETERANS COLISEUM // .467 miles
After a month away from the track, Red Bull Global Rallycross drivers would see their first of two sets of back-to-back event
weekends in late July. The first set would kick off in New York, followed by an event in Charlotte.
Tanner Foust and Ken Block were the championship favorites coming into the season, but both drivers found themselves on
the outside of the title chase looking in. The battle up front was between former Formula 1 drivers Scott Speed and Nelson
Piquet Jr., who were separated by only one point at the front of the field.
All four would factor heavily into the story of this race: after the first attempt at the final was red-flagged with Sverre
Isachsen in a comfortable lead, contact between Isachsen and Foust would facilitate a second restart. The third time proved
to be a charm for Foust, who converted the chance into his first victory since Las Vegas in October 2012. Piquet held off
Speed for much of the race, but Speed eventually prevailed for the runner-up position.
However, after the race, officials determined that Speed’s crew had made unapproved repairs under the team’s tent in the
first red flag period. In response, he was dropped to ninth—a 40-point swing that saw him go from five points up to 35
behind—with Piquet and Block the new second and third place finishers.
Piquet also competed in the GRC Lites event, earning third place to become the first driver to podium in both classes on the
same day. As in Austin, Mitchell DeJong beat Olsbergs MSE teammate Kevin Eriksson for the win.
Kevin Eriksson earned his first GRC Lites win over Mitchell DeJong and Pedro Piquet, the younger brother of Nelson. The
event marked the first time that brothers podiumed in both classes of Red Bull GRC action on the same weekend.

Round 5: RED BULL GRC CHARLOTTE
JULY 25-26, 2014
THE DIRT TRACK AT CHARLOTTE // .480 miles
The Dirt Track at Charlotte proved to be a driver and fan favorite in its first appearance on the Red Bull Global Rallycross
schedule in 2013, making it a no-brainer to return in 2014. The event moved from September to July, and for the first
time incorporated night racing with two rounds of heats on Friday night.
Subaru Rally Team USA had shown flashes of brilliance early in the season, with Bucky Lasek earning an X Games medal
and Sverre Isachsen in the hunt for a win in New York. They further expounded upon that in Charlotte, with both drivers
taking heat victories (for Lasek, it was the first of his career) and looking like contenders for the overall win.
But when all was said and done, this weekend was about Ken Block. After a punctured tire took him out of the hunt for the
2013 victory, Block used both his prowess on dirt and the momentum of a podium finish in New York to unleash upon the
field. He qualified first, won both of his heats, paced the semifinal and dominated the main event to post the first perfect
event weekend under the new-for-2014 Red Bull GRC race format. Isachsen would take second, while Nelson Piquet Jr.
earned his fourth consecutive podium result to extend his championship lead to 46.
Two thrilling days of GRC Lites action culminated with another Mitchell DeJong victory, but it wasn’t the easiest road for
the California native: he actually finished last in his first heat when Oliver Eriksson leapfrogged both Alejandro Fernandez
and DeJong in the final corner. But DeJong rebounded and regained control to lead an Olsbergs MSE podium sweep: Kevin
Eriksson took second and Oliver grabbed third, the first brothers to podium in the same class in the same race.

Round 6: RED BULL GRC DAYTONA
AUGUST 22-23, 2014
DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY // .924 miles
Red Bull Global Rallycross made its debut at Daytona International Speedway in August, adding its own name to the rich
legacy of racing series to compete at the prestigious track. Using part of its famous road course, drivers would be treated to
one of the longest tracks on the schedule, a .924-mile layout that saw cars topping out in sixth gear heading into the first
turn.
Rhys Millen came to Daytona determined to make good on a disappointing result in Charlotte, having seen both of his
team’s cars miss the main event. An engine issue prevented him from scoring what would have been an easy heat win in
the second round, but it was clear that he had one of the fastest cars on the grid for Sunday’s semifinals and final.
Though the heat winners were a sampling of the series’ top drivers—Scott Speed, Joni Wiman, and Patrik Sandell among
them—it would be Millen and Austin Dyne who took the semifinal victories, with Bucky Lasek joining them on the front
row. Dyne and Speed would see their days cut short due to an incident in the main event, but Millen seized the opportunity
to grab the win. Ken Block, winner in Charlotte, raced his way up to second, while Lasek maintained his position to take his
second podium of the season.
A short GRC Lites field guaranteed that at least one driver would score his first career podium in the class. Mitchell DeJong
added yet another victory, but behind him Alejandro Fernandez and Tyler Benson each claimed a podium result for the first
time. Benson passed first-time competitor Blake Fuller late in the race for the final podium spot.

Round 7: RED BULL GRC LOS ANGELES I
SEPTEMBER 19-20, 2014
Port of los angeles // .586 miles
Red Bull Global Rallycross’ first visit to the Port of Los Angeles was special for numerous reasons. Not only was it the sport’s
first visit to the waterfront location, it was also full of storylines befitting a showcase event.
The big guns were out in full force. After an extended development period, Tanner Foust rolled out the brand new
Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle for the first time. Subaru Rally Team USA brought Travis Pastrana back into the fray
for the doubleheader race, while Kevin Hansen, son of rallycross legend Kenneth, would join the GRC Lites field.
Nelson Piquet Jr.’s 40 point lead in the standings wouldn’t prove to be enough, as the SH Racing Rallycross squad
struggled all weekend to find speed. After contact in the semifinals and a failure to advance in the last chance qualifier, it
was more likely than not that one of the three drivers behind him—Scott Speed, Joni Wiman, or Ken Block—would move
into the second leg of the doubleheader with the points lead.
Murphy’s Law prevailed for Piquet, as all three drivers made it to the podium in that order. Block and Piquet sat tied atop
the standings with 248 points, with Speed two points behind and Wiman only 10 points back. Those four drivers would
remain the only four competitors eligible for the championship until the very end of the fight.
PORT OF LOS ANGELES // .586 miles
With the battle atop the Supercar standings as close as it had been all season, the second Red Bull Global Rallycross round
in Los Angeles was going to be pivotal to the championship, separating the contenders from the pretenders. What nobody
expected, however, was for a driver out of the title race entirely to take the victory.
Rhys Millen took his first win of the 2014 season in Daytona, but a pole and fourth place finish in the first leg of the
doubleheader proved that he wasn’t done making his mark. He qualified third for the second leg of the event, finished
second in his heat and first in the semifinal, and chose the inside lane to take the advantage in the main event.
Ken Block and Joni Wiman, two of the top four championship contenders, converted their front row starting spots into
second and third place results. Block’s result enabled him to extend his points lead to 17, with two favorable events in his
sights: Seattle, a dirt-heavy event that catered to his skill set, and Las Vegas, where he was defending race winner. With
Scott Speed and Nelson Piquet Jr. posting middling results to fall back, the title was Block’s to lose.
In GRC Lites, Kevin Eriksson grabbed his second victory of the season, with Mitchell DeJong and Hansen completing the
podium in his first start on American soil.
The GRC Lites finale, meanwhile, may have proven to be most thrilling of all. Kevin Eriksson was poised to take his second
victory in two days when the car overheated and lost power on the final lap. Olsbergs MSE teammate Mitchell DeJong
seized the opportunity, took the joker on the final lap, and edged his teammate by .04 seconds—moments before both
drivers made contact and wrecked after crossing the line. Lost in the ruckus after the event was Alejandro Fernandez’s
second podium in three races, allowing him to assert his hold on third in the championship.

Round 9: RED BULL GRC SEATTLE
SEPTEMBER 26-27, 2014
DIRTFISH RALLY SCHOOL // .793 miles
THE LINQ HOTEL AND CASINO // .627 MILES
The Pacific Northwest has an extensive rally heritage, having hosted the WRC’s Olympus Rally and producing some of the
best roads in the United States. Red Bull Global Rallycross staged its first event in Washington in 2011, returning to the
state (and same event site) in 2014 for a penultimate event at DirtFish Rally School.
With a new venue and a new track layout, the stage was set for an impressive Red Bull Global Rallycross season finale in
Las Vegas. Though 2013 had set the bar, with Ken Block, Tanner Foust and Travis Pastrana taking the top three spots, this
year’s finale would see four drivers in the title hunt: Block, Scott Speed, Nelson Piquet Jr., and points leader Joni Wiman.
With a passionate sellout crowd on site and three cars on the grid, Subaru Rally Team USA was ready to have a statement
weekend. Joining full-timers Sverre Isachsen and Bucky Lasek on the grid would be six-time Rally America champion David
Higgins, racing a DirtFish-sponsored car.
Speed, driving a Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle for the first time after spending the first nine races in a Polo, earned
the pole and won his first two heats. Speed’s teammate Foust and championship rival Block took the other two pairs of
heat wins, but only Block would add a semifinal victory: Speed and Foust were outfoxed by Bucky Lasek in the second
semifinal. With Wiman finishing second in his two heats, Block narrowed the gap from 12 points to 10, or two finishing
positions in the main event.
At first, the weekend looked like it would be a showdown between championship leaders Ken Block and Joni Wiman, who
matched each other with dueling first-place finishes in their respective heats and semifinal races. But it all came crashing
down for Block in the final, when he misjudged the joker lane and ran into Tanner Foust while returning to the racing line,
ending Foust’s race immediately and forcing Block to limp home in ninth.
Isachsen inherited the lead and thus the victory, but the real winner was Wiman, whose second place finish gave him the
points lead heading into the finale. Brian Deegan earned third place in his first race since Charlotte in July.
Mitchell DeJong wrapped up the GRC Lites title with his record-tying sixth victory, but it only came after Tyler Benson led
the first lap. Austin Cindric and Alejandro Fernandez completed the podium.

The first start to the final saw Speed crash into Lasek in the first corner, leading to a restart with Speed moved to the back
of the grid. He would climb back up to third, chasing down Lasek for second, with Block sitting pretty in first while Wiman
was stuck in fourth. But the Finnish rookie smartly took the joker to get around both Speed and Lasek, climbing to second
place—winning the championship by a single finishing spot all season, despite Block’s race victory.
With the GRC Lites title sewn up, Mitchell DeJong was racing for pride in Las Vegas. A poor start to the final allowed one-off
driver Andreas Bakkerud to take an early lead, but DeJong clawed back for a record seventh Lites victory.
