gemstones as has De Beers
Diamond Jewellers Ltd. for
clear precious stones.
The Montreal financier is off
to a good start as owner of the largest cut Paraiba tourmaline,
which, at nearly 192 carats, shatters the current Guinness World
Records holder with its mass of just under 52 carats.
He expects his tourmaline to soon be certified by Guinness and
included in the 2011 edition of the Guinness Book of World
Records (the 2010 version is already out).
Although valued at between $25 million and $125 million, what the
36-year-old company CEO called a "perfect and flawless stone"
isn't for sale — yet.

mining teams for the planned start of underground mine
production, due to commence early next year," according to
Diavik's statement. The mine began rough production in 2003 and
expects to complete the transition to underground mining in 2012.

Xinhua: Vincent Boucher is applying to the Guinness World Records for the
largest Paraiba tourmaline at 192 carats. He is sure to succeed as his stone shatters the current
record of just under 52 carats.

Boucher presented what he has named the "Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba" at Kaufmann de
Suisse jewelry boutique in Montreal, Canada on Wednesday, saying he will tour the globe with
the oval-shaped clear turquoise gem once it is officially recognized as the biggest. He told
Canwest News Service that he expects his tourmaline to soon be certified by Guinness and
included in the 2011 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Boucher bought the stone six months ago for an undisclosed sum. He says the value is between
$24 million and $122 million, but does not plan to sell the gemstone. One carat of a vivid
incandescent natural neon-like bluish-green Paraiba tourmaline runs as high as five figures,
Boucher said.
There is only one Paraiba tourmaline mined for every 10,000 diamonds and as Boucher pointed
out, only a total of 50 kilograms of the gem have been recovered to date.

Rekorde eintragen lassen. Und ist von seinem Erfolg überzeugt, da bisher ein Turmalin
von nur 52 Karat als Rekordhalter gilt.
Dies teilte heute die kanadische Zeitung Canwest News Service mit.

Sobald sein Edelstein als der grösste Turmalin der Welt anerkannt wird, plant Boucher
auf Reisen zu gehen und diesen ovalen türkisfarbigen Edelstein zur Schau zu stellen.
Boucher erwarte, dass der neue Rekord schon in die nächste Auflage des GuinessBuches 2011 aufgenommen wird.
Es wurde bekannt gegeben, dass der Kanadier den Turmalin vor einem Jahr für eine
nicht genannte Summe gekauft hat. Boucher schätzt seinen Turmalin auf 24 bis 122
Millionen Dollar. Laut seinen Worten steht der Stein jedoch nicht zum Verkauf.
Turmalin ist ein selten vorkommendes und teures Mineral, dass vorwiegend im
brasilianischen Bundesstaat Paraiba gefördert wird. Pro 10 000 Diamanten findet man
nur einen Turmalin. Zur Zeit wurden nur 50 Kilogramm Turmalin weltweit gefördert.
