President, OVR PCA the New Year and solicits input from the members for 2014. So now it is time to work with much comity (that’s the one with the ‘t,’ not the other letter) as we venture out from the current sub-zero temperatures into the brave new world of 2014. One of the things we plan to expand is the availability of scheduling information on the website. With that in mind, I have asked all of the different officers and chairpersons to forward all relevant information to our webmaster. In addition, and this is the solicitation portion of the article, I once again ask for input from the membership on things that you would like to do. Or do more of. A recent trip in the Way Back Machine brought the August 1975 edition of the Bent Pylon to the President’s hand. Notification of scheduling for the club events was a bit different then, including a full page map giving directional help to the GE Park Concours. This edition of the Bent Pylon was produced just after the last glacier had receded from Winton Woods but while they were still serving saber tooth tiger burgers in the company mess tent. And they had not put a bridge over Rt. 747 to carry rail traffic. In the new members section, John Meyer with his silver 1968 912 soft window Targa was welcomed to the club along with eight other new members: Ron Goener, James Hill, Reni Rice, Hank Willig, Mike Patterson, Stephen Tuzzolino, Steve Barger and Ron Landthorn. Are you still out there? The club, like time, but unlike the Luddite President, evolves and marches on. John Meyer, from gadfly to curmudgeon in only 66 short years. Herb Beck has taken the Secretary position. Mary Louse Bauman has a different e-mail address. Mark Kosobud is the new Merchandise chair. Tom Cole is the new Rally/Tour chair. KarahLyn Crihfield is the new Webmaster. Michael Soriano is the new Zone 4 representative. Von dem Redakteur Speaker’s Corner Wade Huston- Editor, Bent Pylon Howard Renner - OVR Member Happy New Year! In early December I received a scan of the September 1963 Panorama. It contained a special section featuring the Ohio Valley Region which had just been created in 1961. I will try to reprint some of the articles here in the Bent Pylon in the following months. The theme of the articles is to have fun with your Porsche and be with others who are interested in doing the same thing. Fifty years later, the club exists for the same reason. Driving the Back Roads The current board members and event chairs are planning club events for 2014 with the first one, the Chilli Party, on Feb. 1. The registration for the first driver’s education event is already open; see page 8. These and this years upcoming events are held so that you and other club members can have fun with your Porsches. Keep watching the website calendar and the Bent Pylon for information. The new Zone 4 representative, Michael Soriano, introduces himself on page 19. Ron Carr has done a great job for the last 4 years, but is now passing the baton. Zone 4 includes 12 regions and the zone rep. is there to assist all of the regions in communicating with each other and with the national office. If you need help with other regions, send Michael a note. This month’s BP has two road trip reports and one ownership story. Do you enjoy reading these articles? Why don’t you write one of your own? Short or long, it doesn’t matter as long as it pertains to the club and/or enjoying your Porsche. Don’t worry about not being an English major. My proofreaders, spell check and I will work with you. Pictures are nice also. You can e-mail me any pictures you think other members might like to see. Technical articles are welcomed. I recently changed the motor mounts in my ‘94 Carrera and took pictures as I went along. I’ll try to do an article soon, but I would much rather another member write up their own experience. Porsche A.G. has recently introduced two new models: the 911 Targa and the Macan. They are not available to drive yet, but your Porsche is. So.... In October Janet and I made a short trip to the Hilton Head area of South Carolina. I enjoy driving; frequently I take the back roads. On the return portion of this trip we traveled to Athens, Georgia to visit our granddaughter at the University of Georgia. Our return home from Athens turned out to be quite interesting. US 129 in western North Carolina is fairly well known for a section of road called The Dragon’s Tail. I believe there are something like 300+ curves over an eleven mile stretch of the road. The bikers in particular find this road a challenge. For our trip home from Athens I decided to take US 129, but I consciously chose not to run The Dragon’s Tail because we would be traveling on a Sunday. Weekends are a particularly busy time on this road with “crotch rockets” testing their skills, and I didn’t care to be included in this activity. My plan was to travel US 129 up to N.C. and then divert over to the Smokies. I had no advance knowledge of this area of the country. The road was a normal back road, i.e., a typical rolling, winding type of road. But after we passed Cleveland, GA things changed. We began to drive up a mountain. The further we went, the better it got. It became a very enjoyable, somewhat challenging (if you choose to make it so) road. For a better understanding of this section of road, on YouTube call up: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=5M-hwgr_1Xg&feature=youtube_gdata. I have since learned that this area is known as Blood Mountain. As luck would have it there were no other cars on our side of the road. We met only four cars that were coming down on the other side of the road. When we got to the top of the mountain, I pulled into the rest area (shown at the end of the video). As I was getting out of the car, I noticed a biker standing across the parking area looking at me and my ‘07 Carrera. I commented, “This is as good as the Dragon’s Tail.” He replied, “No, it’s better.” So, if you enjoy driving, take the back roads. You may not be able to go as fast, but you will enjoy the drive more. Once we cleared the Smokies we followed I-40 and I-75 to get home. Yes, we went faster; if you don’t drive 80 to 85 mph, you get run over. For me this type of drive is much less enjoyable. An enjoyable drive on the back roads is more my cup of tea. Have fun with your Porsche this month. Do you have something to say to the club? Say it in the Speaker’s Corner column. The subject is open as long as it pertains to the club and/or Porsches. It was touch and go for a while when event chair Donna Spells-Wilson and I first arrived at Brio’s early that Saturday morning. The sun shone bright, but it was still blustery cold and some roads were icy and treacherous to drive, especially in a Porsche (unless you had mad skills and some of us did). Not knowing what the turnout would be, because of the weather and the pre-registration numbers, Donna prepared for fifty-eight guests and by last count, fifty-two attended. With the help of some Brio’s staff we decorated the tables. While watching the brunch being set up, we held our breath and waited. Gradually the anxiety subsided, as members and guests started to enter, sign in and relax with a warm beverage. Each attendee received a gift bag containing an OVR book mark, an OVR pencil, an OVR can cozy, assorted candies, and raffle tickets. The tables were decorated with festive colors, a variety of candy canes, and some mini toy cars to play with if anyone got bored (which we didn’t let happen). Attendees were warmly greeted by Randy Wilson. The event formally started with yours truly offering a word of welcome to everyone and, to Donna’s surprise, my quickly screwing up the order of the agenda. But everyone was having a good time and hardly noticed a gaff I made introducing Dennis Okin as M.C. The delicious food was served buffet style and there was plenty for all. After most had enjoyed their first pass at the buffet, John Meyer, our President, said words of welcome and presented awards to this year’s OVR chapter winners. The recipients were: The Howard Rapp Award: Paul and Mary Siegel Rookie of the Year: Tom Cole Comeback Player of the Year: Brent Fagan Enthusiast of the Year: Dennis Okin Please offer your congratulations to each of them. To add a little more fun to the occasion, a raffle was held for various Porsche related gear, which ranged from car maintenance items such as Griot’s products, a Porsche key chain, a PCA beer glass with sparkling cider, to a Porsche “No Parking” sign and other prizes. We want to offer special thanks to Brio’s Café management and staff for great food, drink and hospitality and to our OVR members Bill Kief, Brent Fagan, and Steve Nelson, who helped Donna plan and pull off an event which we hope everyone who attended truly enjoyed. Editors Note: Paul and Mary Siegel’s story is on page 11. 7 Spring Driver’s Education at Mid-Ohio Gary Nichols - Event Chair Greetings to everyone. It is time to kick off our 2014 driving year by formally announcing our annual Spring Driver’s Education Event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio. It will take place April 4, 5, and 6. As you read this, registration is now open for the event. We hope you will sign up early and join us at one of North America’s top road courses. Go on-line at www.clubregistration.net to register for this event. We will follow our usual format with Friday as a lapping day for instructors and qualified solo students (10 or more previous DE events) and a 2-day DE on Saturday and Sunday with four student run groups and one instructor run group. The usual four runs per group per day schedule will be in place. As always we will have classroom sessions for novice and advanced student groups, and all in attendance are welcome to attend those classroom sessions whether driving or not. We will offer our Taste of the Track program on Saturday morning for anyone wanting to get a brief introduction to DE events for the modest fee of $25.00. Friday evening we will gather at our host hotel, the Quality Inn in Bellville, for registration, tech inspection, meet and greet, and OVR hospitality. There will be pizza, snacks, and liquid refreshments for all. We encourage you to arrive and register Friday evening if at all possible. Saturday arrivals will need to go thru tech inspection and registration before being able to drive. Be sure to book your hotel accommodations at the Quality Inn, or their sister hotel, the Comfort Inn across the street, and mention you are with OVR PCA to get our group rate of $84. We have a block of rooms reserved for the event. I am pleased to announce that Thomas Crihfield will be Co-Chairman with me for this event and the spring event in 2015. Tom has run tech inspection for the past few years and will take over the event completely in 2016. I am sure Tom will do a fine job as he transitions to Chairman. Your registrars for this event will again be Lynne and Jim Burnett, and yes, they live in Florida. The Burnetts have agreed to perform this duty for the next two years, making the long trip to Ohio to spend time with us, and we all thank them for their hard work and dedication making this event successful. You can contact them at e-mail: [email protected] with any questions. Prices will remain the same for garages and entry fees as they were in 2013. While track rental has increased 2%, we have agreed to hold the line on fees to entrants. Register early. Fees go up $50.00 across the board thirty days prior to the event. We do offer options to those who may not be able to make the entire weekend. Thanks to your support and the great attendance we’ve had in the past, OVR has one of the least expensive fee structures for DE’s at Mid-Ohio. 8 Garage holders from April 2013 should look for an e-mail including some important changes to the garage rental process that are being made for this event this year. Anyone that did NOT have a garage that is interested in one should e-mail the Registrar to get on the first-come, first-served wait list. We look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones in April. As always we welcome drivers and enthusiasts of all experience levels, first timers as well as the veteran drivers, and all marques as well as Porsche. Come and join us! PHOTOS NEEDED E-mail your OVR event photos to me at [email protected] and see them in the Bent Pylon. First Time at a Mid-Ohio Driver’s Ed. Josh Snyder - OVR Member Remember the first time you rode a roller coaster? You watched from a distance, questioning the sanity of what you were about to do. Butterflies built up to a frenzy in your stomach as you stood in line. Then once you were in motion, everything else faded away and your mind focused solely on the moment. You became acutely aware of the track streaming by, the click-clack of the rails below, and the g-force applied to your body as it shifted with each change in direction. Now take the intensity of that experience and double it. Instead of passively riding along on a predetermined path, you’re actively driving not just any car, but your Porsche. That’s what it’s like at your first DE. Thursday night of my first DE weekend I might as well have been a kid starting at a new school the next day. I couldn’t sleep as my mind played and replayed possible scenarios as I imagined what exciting things might happen in the coming days. After finally falling asleep, I was up so early Friday morning my alarm was not needed. The 160 mile trip to Mid-Ohio was made easier by following my instructor, Grant Karnes, and the curvy hips of his beautiful red Cayman S. Shortly after we arrived, Grant was on the track and I was left to explore my weekend home on my own. I wandered around the perimeter of the infield, my gaze following the beautiful machines as they circled around me again and again. Standing on the hill overlooking Madness with the autumn sun on my face and a pleasant breeze in my hair, anticipation grew within me knowing that in less than 24 hours I would be the one circling. Later in the afternoon, I stood on the balcony of the garages overlooking the front straight listening to the throaty roar of three or four Vipers, the jet engine scream of a couple of 996 Turbos, and that sweet sound that’s so hard to describe, yet so unmistakable, of the countless naturally aspirated flat sixes. And who could forget the Switzer tuned Nissan GTR that would shoot flames from its dual exhaust when lifting off the throttle at the end of the front straight. After another restless night, I arrived at the track early Saturday morning. At the edge of the paddock I looked up the front straight as the first rays of daylight streamed over the trees beyond the Carousel and engines revved to life, shattering the silence of an otherwise peaceful dawn. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. the pavement that lie ahead. My words alone can’t do justice to what it’s actually like to drive a full lap of Mid-Ohio, but here’s my best attempt at a beginner’s guide. Turn 1 at the end of the front straight is the fastest turn on the track and requires an uncanny sense of trust in the grip of your tires. Take it as fast as you dare. Track out and back to the left to set up for the chicane. Clip the curbing of 2 and tap the brakes hard at 3 to set the wheels for turn in. Drive 4 and use the slight uphill to brake hard. Turn in late for the double apex Keyhole turn and clip the curbing again coming onto the back straight. A well-driven chicane and Keyhole will leave the cars in front of you wondering where you came from when you fill their mirrors entering the back straight. Now put the pedal to the floor for as long as you can stomach on the longest straight of the track before braking hard to set up for the hard right of turn 7. Up and over Madness, brake uphill and get on the gas early over the crest of the hill. A well-driven right-hand turn 9 sets up for the quick hitting turns that follow. Hug 10 tight left, smooth out 11, and turn in late on 12. Manage the throttle into Thunder Valley; otherwise the back end gets squirrely. After a slight right, pilot the car unnaturally close to the guard rail on the passenger side before turning into 14. To get the Carousel right, drive like you’re going straight off the track toward the stands beyond the wall before turning hard right, then quickly back on the gas. You know you drove it well if you accelerate hard over a slight bump in the road before a gentle downhill left opens to the front straight and you get to do it all over again! After our first run at speed with helmets on, Grant told me to hold out my hand as we were exiting pit lane. He knew it would be shaking, but I think he wanted to see how much. I tried to hold it as steady as possible, but we could both see it fluttering like a leaf in a gentle breeze. I smiled behind the face guard of my helmet, feeling truly alive. For the second run on Sunday morning I was allowed to run a session solo. As I pulled into pit lane, I held out my hand. Sure enough, the shaking was back, but so was the smile. After the driver’s meeting, a classroom session, and a controlled track session limited to 60 mph, it was finally 11:40 a.m. This was it! Time for my first real track laps limited only by my ability and confidence as a driver. A funny thing happens when you pull on a helmet. It’s like a cocoon for your mind. Your focus narrows. Your thoughts zero in on the task ahead of you. You may know that the award is for obsession with your Porsche(s) and your garage. Paul and Mary have both. The cars in their collection are beautiful and a couple of them are run on the track. Their new garage is a showplace (the construction was managed by Mary) with heat and air, with minimal cabinetry and surface space, but with everything you need. Items are separated into spacious, marked bins inside the cabinets so that you can find what you need at a glance. Paul takes an organizer bag with all that he needs to car shows. Here is Paul’s own account of his Porsche journey. After years of failing to talk Mary’s brother into selling us their family’s ‘59 Morgan Plus 4 stored in her mother’s garage, we finally decided to shift attention toward finding a Porsche 356. At one of the car shows Dick Weiss and Tom Oerther noticed me drooling over Steve Leiding’s gorgeous Roadster. It must have been pretty obvious that I had already contracted the dreaded “must have disease.” Dick and Tom gave me their business cards and warned me that there are a lot of sub-standard cars out there, and offered to help guide Mary and me through the selection process. Soon Mark Schlachter of MetalMasters also got into the process, and Mark actually flew out to Phoenix to evaluate a Cabriolet for which we were just about ready to pull the trigger. Good thing! Mark found any number of problems on what had looked like the right car for us, and advised us to run away from that deal as fast as we could! You can’t imagine our disappointment since in our minds we had all but decided that that would be our car. Out of desperation we called European Collectibles out in California and spoke with Jeff Trask. We explained our recent disappointing experience and asked him what he might have for us. We felt more and more comfortable with Jeff as he had all the “correct” answers to 356 questions. We also discovered that we had several common friends from sailboat racing! He in no uncertain terms recommended we stop looking and purchase a sweet 356 B Cabriolet he was offering. In a leap of faith we arranged a deal for what would become Mary’s B Cab, sight unseen. What a relief when it showed up at Mark’s shop and after a thorough inspection Mark pronounced that we had hit a home run with the purchase! Even though the restoration of Mary’s “new” Cab was done only thirty-three years old, a lot of elbow grease was needed to bring the paint back to concours condition. In 2012 Rick Davin put a new interior and top on the car to bring it back to the original specs, ruby red with tan interior. And 2013 started off with a bang with Mary winning a trophy with her B Cab at the Ault Park Concours! Alas, Mary’s car turned out so well that I wanted a 356 of my own. I started the search for a “driver” 356. As is usually the case, this search took on a life of its own. Lots of promising cars, but never the right one. Finally, I headed to California to search for just the right “driver.” My first stop was California Porsche Restoration. Wow! Gorgeous restorations, restored to like new condition. But oh, so expensive! So on to European Collectibles where Jeff Trask had not one but two coupes in my ideal color combo, black with red interior. Back in 1959 my dad had ordered a black with red interior Mercedes 190 SL for European delivery, but when he got there it was red with tan interior! (He took it any way, and ten years later, after I replaced the by that time rusted out body, I ended up driving that car all through college and Dental School.) So I really wanted a black with red car to “close the loop.” I really desired the coupe Jeff had that featured a sunroof, but there were issues such as the color combination not consistent with the Certificate of Authenticity. So he pulled the other coupe, a dusty old black with red ‘65 356 SC, out of a storage shed. It looked pretty sad, no radio, and only one hood latch holding up the front bonnet when it was opened. I called Mary in disappointment and told her I had not found the right car. But when I got home Jeff had sent me new pictures of the SC after it had been cleaned up and it was starting to look a lot better! It was an all numbers matching car, and as a California car it had no rust. It had been restored ten years earlier by European Collectibles. Once again we were able to hammer out a deal which included Jeff putting in a correct radio and also throwing in a tool kit. When it arrived a week later at Mark’s shop, we held our breath while Mark gave it his usual thorough examination and finally pronounced, “You did good!” Whew! It always amazes me how going through the Griot’s system of compounds, 3M Swirl Remover, and then P21S cleaner will bring back a car finish. When a black car is dirty and oxidized it can look downright homely, but oh my when it is cleaned up it is stunning! My little “driver” was slowly making the transition to show car status. Its first show was scheduled to be Porsches to Ohio in Granville OH. Well, P2O turned into H20 with a steady rain all day. After all the work getting ready, what a disappointment. Mary decided no way she would drive her Cab up there in the rain, and I was just about to bail out also. But then I decided that I had not acquired the car just to sit in the garage. Off I went to Granville, with a fresh coat of RainX on the windscreen to keep from wearing out the wiper blades. When all the rain had settled, the little black SC had won “Best in Show!” From that moment on I decided that the SC would indeed always be a “driver,” to be driven to as many shows as possible as well as the occasional trip to Graeter’s for a turtle sundae after dinner. 11 Bill Kidwell | | | Realtor ® NAR OAR SOAR (513) 910-8947 cell (513) 924-3390 efax [email protected] www.sibcycline.com 1077 State Route 28, Suite 111, Milford, OH 45150 Events Florals of Mariemont “Where visions become reality, no dream is too vast and every detail is vital.” Gold Medalist · Cincinnati Flower Show 2010 Molly Klinedinst · Award Winner Donna Lennox 513.271.2266 513.404.0206 cell www.eventsbylennox.com 7257 Wooster Pike | Cincinnati | OH | 45227 12 Trip to the Porsche by Design Exhibit Jeff Clark - OVR Member Photos by Crystal Clark Near Thanksgiving I was reading Excellence and noticed an ad for the North Carolina Museum of Art exhibition Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed. It sounded fantastic, but here’s my problem; I’ll hem and haw about packing the family up and driving 9 hours to Raleigh. My wife however will push me. I e-mailed the ad over to her and in half an hour she called and said: “I booked a hotel and bought tickets for the Porsche show. We’re leaving Friday morning.” If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t own the Porsches in my garage. Every single car on display was noteworthy. There isn’t a moment where you don’t want to pull up a chair and just stare. Dan Gurney’s 804 Formula One car, the 904/6 prototype, the 908 K; your head is cranking around like a barn owl. On the back wall of this display were more racing cars. For me, these are cars that I would have no chance of seeing in my lifetime unless I traveled to the Porsche Museum: the beautiful and iconic Type 917K, the 917 16-cylinder, the 935, the 962C that ran the 24 hours of Le Mans. The weather was perfect when we left the house, dry, bright and clear and there was very little traffic. I‘ve never been to Raleigh before despite having been raised in North Carolina. Seeing a new city sounded wonderful. The drive took us through West Virginia, which I’ve driven through before. But this time I noticed that every highway, bridge, rest stop, mall, animal shelter, forest and coal mine is named for Senator Robert Byrd. That’s quite an ego. We arrived at the Museum of Art a few minutes after they opened; the parking lot was already filling up with cars that had come as far as Toronto and California. The dedication of the faithful never fails to inspire. Your first steps to the display are down a flight of stairs and to my delight at the bottom of the flight was a beautiful Cayman in Guard’s Red. The Panamericana concept car had a nice detail on the tires, the Porsche crest was actually carved into the tread. This car was given to Ferry Porsche on his 80th birthday. Walking the queues builds the anticipation of the first car you’ll see and it doesn’t disappoint; it’s the 1938 Porsche Type 64 Berlin-Rom Racer which was supposed to race in that year’s Berlin to Rome event but the race was canceled due to the war. What’s interesting at these types of events are the comments of people who know and those who have no clue what these cars represent. One guy talking to his wife insisted the car was not German but French. There were 22 cars on display. It was a good visual of Porsche’s heritage and DNA. I would have loved a hundred or more but that’s me. I had a six year old with me, so 22 was a good number. The finale: the 901 prototype, the 1974 IROC 911 Carrera RSR, and Ralph Lauren’s 1988 959. There was also a Type 980 Carrera GT in silver and the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car prototype. The last car I had to see was Janis Joplin’s 1965 356C Cabriolet. The car was located in another building but worth looking for. One of the members of her band painted the car “psychedelically.” It was remarkable. She had it painted so that it would attract attention and encouraged her fans to leave hand written notes under the windshield wipers! I really wanted to see Steve McQueen’s 1958 356 Speedster. It is a drop dead gorgeous black convertible oozing every bit of its original owner’s “cool.” I think the car is owned by his son Chad. Next to it was the flawless 1949 356 Gmund coupe. 13 Alan J. Happy Michael Soriano Zone 4 Representative New Year! My name is Michael Soriano, and I am excited and proud to be your new Zone Representative. For several years members of the Executive Committee have been asking me to take on a national position. However, I chose to remain in my position as Region President to successfully complete many of the innovations and projects which we had implemented in order to continue the growth and progress being made in my region. After the Presidents’ Meeting in March 2013, Ron Carr approached me asking me to consider running for the position of Zone Rep., and after careful consideration, I did. I’d like to thank Ron and Constance for all of their years of service to PCA and for their valuable assistance to me. I would also like to thank all of the Region Presidents that nominated and endorsed my candidacy, and to the Executive Committee for their tremendous display of support. As Zone Rep, I have already had numerous communications with Manny Alban and Vu Nguyen, and even more with Ron. I’ve written and submitted my first newsletter article, begun planning and organizing the Presidents’ Meeting, arranged an all-day meeting with Ron, begun working on the zone’s visit to the North American International Auto Show, started setting up and arranging my travel plans for the year, reviewed many of the upcoming events throughout the zone, and participated in my first Zone Rep conference call ~ and it’s only been 3 days. All of your region officers and chairpersons are hard at work scheduling an abundance of activities. Be sure to check your local region’s website and newsletter for the latest details on the many events close to you that are being planned. Also, consider attending other regions’ events, such as: • Join the Ohio Valley Region on February 1, 2014 for their Annual Chili Party at Porsche of Kings Auto Mall in Cincinnati, OH. Registration details can be found in the region newsletter or on the OVR website at http://ovrpca.org. • Maumee Valley Region’s Annual Planning Meeting is being held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Monclova, OH. • The Rally Sport Region will gather on the first Tuesday of February (4th) at Karl’s Cabin in Plymouth, MI, from 7-9 p.m. • The Michiana Region’s Membership Meeting is on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at Columbo’s Restaurant in Elkhart, IN. • The Central Indiana Region’s Valentine Dinner Dance is on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Orchard Ridge Country Club in Fort Wayne, IN. • Mid-Ohio Region is planning to hold their New Member Social on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. at Byers Porsche on North Hamilton Rd in Columbus, OH. • Motor-Stadt Region’s Annual Holiday Banquet will be at The Spartan Hall of Fame Café in East Lansing, MI, on Saturday, February 22, 2014. • The Western Michigan Region’s Winterfest 2014 will be on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Cascade Hills Country Club in Grand Rapids, MI. • The Zone 4 Presidents’ Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Maumee Bay State Lodge. • The 59th Annual Porsche Parade will be held in Monterey, CA on June 14-21, 2014. Put this event on your calendar and plan to attend, volunteer to help out and have fun with PCA members from across the US and Canada. It will be a great time for all. Registration will open in mid-March, 2014. I look forward to having the opportunity of meeting each and every one of you at these upcoming events.
