DESTRUCTO vs KLF > MID LIMITED EDITION
The KLF (Kopyright Liberation Front) is the creative partnership of Bill
Drummond and Jimmy Cauty. They gained notoriety with a propaganda
campaign that included: the defacement of billboard adverts, posting of
cryptic advertisements in high profile publications, and making music that
relied heavily on illegal samples.
In 1991 the KLF were the highest-selling singles band in the world.
The following year they retired from the music industry to purse a new
direction, the K Foundation.
As trustees of the K Foundation the duo embarked on a campaign of
extravagant exploits to challenge and subvert the stuffy art establishment.
Their piece ‘Money: A Major Body of Cash’ (£1 Million nailed to a wood
panel) was rejected by the Tate Gallery, so the K Foundation burned it!
Bill and Jimmy are presently engaged in numerous Kreative activities.

DPM: TIBETAN ELEMENTAL TIGERSTRIPE
TERRAIN: Jungle
ORIGIN: Maharishi / Issued Summer 2002
HISTORY: Maharishi’s ‘Tibetan Elemental Tigerstripe Gold’ is inspired by the Vietnamese
‘tigerstripe’ pattern. First worn by South Vietnamese Marines in the early 1960s, this
pattern was originally known as ‘sea wave’, which was itself an interpretation of the
French ‘lizard’ camouflage, used during the 1950s. Various symbols are incorporated
into the ‘Tibetan Elemental Tigerstripe’ pattern, including dragons, hexagons and the
elements; earth, ether, fire, water and wind, expressed as Sanskrit symbols.
DPM: MAHARISHI BONSAI STEP
TERRAIN: Desert
ORIGIN: Maharishi / Issued Summer 2003
HISTORY: This two-colour pixellated pattern is based on a Soviet 1960s camouflage
known to collectors as ‘laser’, ‘step’, or ‘sun ray’, and used on paratrooper KLMK*
uniforms. The infill is based on Peruvian Fellata patterns inspired by shamanic journeying
on Ayuhvasca, and naturally expressing sacred geometric law.
*KLMK – Kamuflirovannyi Letnyi Maskirovochnyi Kombinezon, meaning Camouflage
Summer Deceptive Coveralls
DPM: MAHARISHI DESERT HEX
TERRAIN: Desert [night use]
ORIGIN: Maharishi / Issued Summer 2002
HISTORY: ‘Desert Hex’ is an interpretation of the US ‘Night Time Desert Grid’ pattern,
used during ‘Operation Desert Storm’. Quite unique as a camouflage, ‘Night Time
Desert Grid’ was developed to provide protection in the near-infrared part of the
electromagnetic spectrum and confuse night vision devices. Unlike the square grid of
the US pattern, Maharishi’s ‘Desert Hex’ grid is composed of hexagons, close geometric
relatives of the Star of David and found throughout nature in honeycombs, snowflakes
and various crystals.
DPM: FU SPLINTER
TERRAIN: Snow
ORIGIN: Maharishi x Futura / Issued Winter 2001
HISTORY: Maharishi’s three-colour ‘Fu Splinter’ camouflage is based on a four-colour
1950s Polish pattern composed of large geometric splinter shapes overlaid with rain
straits. While the rain straits remain a part of the Maharishi pattern, the splinters have
been replaced with Futura’s pointman motif.
DPM: MAHARISHI BONSAI FOREST
TERRAIN: Temperate Woodland
ORIGIN: Maharishi / Issued Summer 1998
HISTORY: Inspired by old school Japanese art, the ‘Bonsai’ camouflage incorporates
bonsai trees on floating clouds. The pattern contains subtle elements of the British
‘DPM’ pattern, first officially issued in 1970. Since its initial introduction in 1998, the
‘Bonsai’ camouflage has evolved into a number of variants. This is a second generation
‘Bonsai’ pattern.
DPM: MHI SIKH
TERRAIN: Jungle
ORIGIN: Maharishi / Issued Winter 2002
HISTORY: ‘mhi Sikh’ was influenced by the Indian national pattern known to some
collectors as ‘cactus’ or ‘palm frond’ and itself a distant relation of the British WWII
brush stroke camouflage used on the Denison smock. Incorporated into the ‘mhi Sikh’
pattern are flying ninjas, the mhi logo, and the mhi mountain logo.
