Little Known Alpha Fact of the Quarter
CC Poindexter was the sentimental choice for Callis for that seventh spot as a founder (Jewel) of Alpha Phi
Alpha, even until 1926. The Jewel that was in question was not James Morton whom Eugene Kinckle Jones
replaced but Charles Henry Chapman.

New Transitions for Alpha Sigma Lambda
Greetings, My Ice Cold Brothers of A Phi A:
I am truly honored and blessed to have served you and our communities as President over the last
three years. What a difference three years have made in my life. Prayerfully, I have allowed God to
use me to make a positive impact in some way in each of your lives. It has been my esteemed
privilege to stand on the shoulders of the many giants of our chapter's present and past. As I continue
to prepare to pass our legendary presidential torch to our Bro. President Elect Jabari Jones, I share
with you the words of our 27th General President Charles C. Teamer:
"Our Fraternity is like our family to us in many ways. It began with a shared interest, followed by
a marriage of ideas, a birth, expansion, and today has grown into many generations of distinguish
members. Also, like our family, Alpha must grow or suffer extinction. If our Fraternity is to
survive as a viable part of the social landscape, we must adjust to current conditions and evolve in
a new form. It may mean adjusting our administrative, social and political practices or sticking to
what we have and doing it more efficiently. Only time and collective thought will provide the
blueprint for Alpha's future. "
This quote still holds just as much truth today as it did when it was stated in December of 1984. I can
assure you that upon completion of our 92nd General Convention which was held recently in Austin,
TX and upon the completion of my term, both Alpha and Alpha Sigma Lambda are well poised to
overcome the challenges of the future and to continue to uplift our communities.

"Leadership, Legends and Legacy:
Transcending Time..."
Woman
She is every ounce of
“strength, courage and wisdom”
in trace amounts of man
and –isms.
She is the effervescence of life:
dignity and faith in our fathers,
love, light,
and hope for tomorrows.
She is the seed of prosperity
bringing forth virtuous fruit
faith, charity, resilience
and truth.
She speaks peace
to every sorry,
she is the dawn
of every tomorrow.
She is woman
for destiny’s plans
she is chosen!
By Divine hands

“Awareness & Initiatives on Our Health”
As we are given to reflect on the month of August as “American Cancer Month” let us pause
to talk “Awareness & Initiatives on Men’s Health”.
Some Cancer Ribbons display and suggest areas that we might need be mindful of should we
have symptoms of discomfort in any related area of the body.
First and foremost however it is a reminder to seek regular (at least annual) health checkups
with a personal physician, clinics, or health fairs.
