HOW TO DO IT: INSTALL NOCH’S SCOOTER
Step 1 Remove the scooter and its
attached rider plus the wiring carefully
from the plastic blister packaging. The
supplied wire is very fine indeed so
treat it gently.

Step 2 Gently unroll the wires, which
are around 14cm long. The instructions
advise not to shorten the supplied
wiring but in most cases you will need
to extend it by soldering additional
wire on to run to the transformer.
Step 3 Drill a 0.75mm hole in the
baseboard where the scooter is to be
positioned and thread the wires
through it. Feed the resistors through
one-by-one and you won’t need to
make a bigger hole.

here’s an ever-expanding
selection of detailing
accessories available for
layouts. These increasingly
include working accessories, moving
parts and light effects. Some
accessories, such as bicycles with
working lights, elevate the interest
level of a layout for both operators
and viewers. They also add an
element of fun to a layout.
Enter Noch’s latest products –
motorbikes and scooters with working
front and rear lights. There are
various models available with one or
two passengers or with or without
a sidecar. The lights come ready wired
and the enclosed leaflet contains
instructions in English. The figure and
Piaggio Vespa style scooter come
painted in semi-matt finish.
The lights are micro LEDs that can
be powered by a 16V AC/DC power
accessory output of a controller such
as the Gaugemaster Combi. The very
fine wires to the front and rear lights
on the scooter are visible with
a magnifying glass but at normal
viewing distance they are not obvious.
The model comes ready wired with
resistors to each of the LEDs.
It takes less than an hour to install
one of these motorcycles or scooters
So this is a great way to add a bit of
extra life to your layout. (PM)

Step 4 If using an AC transformer, the
wires can be connected to either side
of the two outlets. If using a DC
transformer, connect the two (thicker)
wires with the fitted resistor to the
positive (+) outlet and the two thinner
wires to the negative side (-).
Step 5 Switch the transformer on and
test that the lights work before fixing
the scooter to the layout. The
instruction leaflet advises you not to
look directly into the LEDs when they
are switched on.

Step 6 Fix the scooter’s wheels with
a tiny blob of contact adhesive, PVA,
Deluxe Materials Tacky Wax or
