Top mathematicians
take on a national
challenge
Some of our best mathematicians took on a national challenge at
Explore Learning, Brixton on Tuesday 10th November. The
competition provided our children with 6 challenges to solve together
as a team, in direct competition with one other Lambeth School.
Here is what our 'brainiacs' had to say about the event:
Evi: " We were working on doing sequences. Our first question
was about making a sequence. We had to make sure the sequence
of shapes added up to a target number. It wasn't too hard for me
and I think we qualified."
Krystal: " It was good. I enjoyed it because we worked as a team
and it wasn't about winning, it was about
participating."
Lizzie: " I really enjoyed it because the questions were
challenging and it took a long time to get the answers for the last
questions."
Yash: " It was good because we managed to answer all but the
last question. They were challenging but we got there in the end."
Next Week is Anti - Bullying Week, which is a great
opportunity to raise awareness about bullying to ensure all
of our children feel happy and safe at school.
As part of anti-bullying week staff will be leading
discussions about E Safety and keeping safe on line.
Students will be using now>press>play equipment to engage with the topic, and create a safe space where they can
openly discuss and explore what it feels like to be bullied.
At St Jude’s we have begun to develop an e-safety group
which consists of a representation of staff,
students, parents and governors which will be
announced within the coming weeks.
We will collaborate to discuss issues and changes being
made to our e-safety culture at home and at school while
working closely with the London
CLC to achieve an E-Safety
Mark. More information can be
found at:
http://www.antibullyingalliance.org.uk/antibullying-week/
Are you creative?
We will be informed of whether or not we qualified for the Regional
Rounds next week. Watch this space! Thank you to Mr Omole for
his support and encouragement throughout the competition.
Scooter Rack Update
There have been a number of scooters reported
as missing over the past few weeks. We are
pleased to announce that the new scooter park
was installed on Tuesday which provides a
locking facility for scooters. To ensure greater
security we would strongly recommend you bring
a lock with the scooter each day. There are 20
racks available.
We will endeavour to monitor the area at the start and the
end of the day, as well as after school clubs which finish
at 4.40pm. Our staff are aware of the situation and we will
do all we can to ensure this situation does not happen
again. If you believe you may have taken the wrong
scooter by accident over the past few weeks please do
return it to the school office. Please do not leave your
scooter or bikes on school premises
overnight. Thank you.
Do you enjoy designing, cutting, sticking and generally getting stuck in?
If so, Miss Lambert’s Christmas Creative Club is for you! The club will start on Tuesday 17th November from 3.40pm 4.40pm until Tuesday 8th December for year 3-6. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Please complete and return the slip to Miss Heron on Monday 16th November.
