Unexpected Romance
and a Holiday Celebration
Good Company Players production of Shadowlands continues at the 2nd Space Theatre through
October 11. This West End and Broadway hit is the
love story of C.S. Lewis - Oxford don and author of
The Chronicles of Narnia and The Screwtape Letters and American poet Joy Davidman. Lewis is smug in
his convictions about God and His plan for the world
until Joy and her young son enter his life and the bewildered theoretician of love in the abstract finally
confronts its direct presence. Rated PG
The delightful Meet Me in St. Louis opens October 29. It’s 1904 and the World’s Fair is about to open
in St. Louis. The Smith family is looking forward to
sharing the festivities with friends and loved ones. In
addition, romance is blooming for the teenaged siblings and all seems set for a lifetime
of love and adventure in their beloved St.
Louis. However, when Mr. Smith’s boss offers him a prestigious position in New York,
his offspring see it as a threat to their future happiness and plots abound to derail
the promotion. Charming, nostalgic, and
fun-filled, Meet Me In St. Louis promises
a happy holiday treat for the whole family.
Rated G.
Tickets for Shadowlands and Meet Me in
St. Louis are on sale at the Box Office, by
phone at 266-0660 or 800-371-4747, or online
at www.2ndspacetheatre.com
The holidays will be a little brighter when Good
Company Players’ production of A Christmas Story,
The Musical opens at Roger Rocka’s November 12.
Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman,
Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie
Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas
gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot
Range Model air rifle. Rebuffed at every turn with
a similar echoing response, Ralphie plots numerous
schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun. All the iconic scenes from the movie are
here: Ralphie’s friend, Flick, getting his tongue stuck
to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed
in his snowsuit; the leg lamp award; the bunny suit
and many others. The delightful score ranges from
gentle ballads to show-stopping full-ensemble numbers such as “Ralphie to the Rescue!,” “A Major Award,”
“Sticky Situation,” and the inevitable “You’ll Shoot
Your Eye Out!” A Christmas Story, The Musical will
bring an exciting new dimension to those who have
seen the classic movie and will certainly stand on its
own for those who haven’t. Rated G
Tickets for A Christmas Story, The Musical are
