What’s Going On in the Kitchen? In March of 2013 Eric Seadler ,or “Hershey” as we call him, became Sous Chef here in Roger Rocka’s kitchen. “Sous Chef” is a French term ,which translates literally to Sub Chef, Executive Chef Eric DeGroot’s right hand man and second in charge in the kitchen. Working closely with the Executive Chef to assist in creating menus and keep Sous Chef Eric (Hershey) Seadler the kitchen running in a manner that meets the Chef’s needs and expectations. Chef DeGroot and Hershey create an atmosphere that allows one or the other the comfort of not being there without anything missing a beat thanks in large part to a tremendous supporting staff consisting of Catherine Walker, Corey Dutra and Sandra Washington. Hershey is originally from the Oakland/East Bay area and moved to Fresno at age 10, his first restaurant job came at 16 and he started cooking at age 18. While not formally trained he learned at an early age that working under a good Chef was the best training one could possibly get and on the job experience is invaluable in a fast paced kitchen. Different seasons provide different challenges as Summer means more grilling and salads and Winter usually means more stove top work for those warm comfort foods. As Eric says they “attack the menu” early and this allows them to focus on completing the remainder of the days work in a timely manner before the guests arrive. They both say that serving seasonal, local, fresh and healthy food is the main goal. Once the guests have been served and the kitchen is cleaned its home to bed and back the next day to do it all again, and they wouldn’t have it any other way! Mistaken Identities and Christmas Spirits at 2nd Space Good Company Players’ production of The Importance of Being Earnest continues at GCP’s 2nd Space Theatre through October 13. Rated G. GCP’s joyful production of the beloved Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol opens November 1. Order online at www.gcplayers.com Page 3 Good Company Players’ production of Young Frankenstein opens at Roger Rocka’s September 19. From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation The Producers, this monster new musical comedy is a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks’ classic comedy masterpiece. The story follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen) as he attempts to complete his grandfather’s masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Together with his oddly shaped and endearing helper Igor (that’s Eye-gor), his curvaceous lab assistant Inga, and in spite of his incredibly self-involved madcap fiancé Elizabeth, Frankenstein succeeds in creating a monster -- but not without scary and quite often hilarious complications. Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment... and the only place you’ll witness a singing and dancing laboratory experiment in the largest tuxedo ever made. Rated PG-13 Tickets for Young Frankenstein are now on sale at the Box Office or by phoning 266-9494 or 800371-4747.
