First a summary of the shows we already had.
Jennifer Zamorano was an excellent Mezzo Soprano. She sang a wonderful variety of songs. But, her operatic voice was so fabulous, I was sorry she
didn’t do more. I tried to get her for next season to do just an operatic show
but, she will not be around next season. Eddie Capone is still a funny comedian. His stories are amusing and we can all relate to them, Sharon Daniels
does wonderful impersonations. We were all hysterical laughing at all of
them. I especially liked her Joan Rivers.
Now on to Luisa Lubell. Her voice is exceptional!! I like having her back
because I think she gets better and better. David Morin did a wonderful Elvis
in a gorgeous costume and he stayed to pose for pictures with anyone who
asked. When he sang other songs in his own voice, the first part of the show,
he was also terrific. In between his own and Elvis, Sofia Uri was a fabulous,
talented pianist. Wow did her fingers fly over those keys! It was something
exciting and wonderful to watch.
Charmaine Forde, came with two instrumentalists—a drummer and a
keyboard. You would think there was a whole band up there the way they
sounded. They were beyond fabulous. Everyone in the audience was on their
feet and screaming for more. They did an extra song and absolutely brought
the house down. They played and Charmaine sang for two hours.
We are now winding down the season and we have a few changes. March
19th: Jeanne Lynn Gray is a wonderful performer, and singer. Jeanne was
here last season on Valentine’s Day. We had a very small audience; I thought,
because of the holiday so, I am bringing her back with an entirely new and
different show so anyone who saw and loved her then, can enjoy her again
and, the people who missed her, can see the talent they missed. Jaime Tinoco,
who, was supposed to appear with Jeanne, can’t make so we are having Lou
Villano. Lou is a talented singer and has a terrific personality. He always gets
the audience going.
April 9th: Instead of David and Shira Pressler, who can’t make it, we will
have Jessi Campo who is a terrific singer in many genres and Miguel Aragon
who is a singer, and dancer. Sorry I couldn’t get the bios in time. I just got
these changes. This will be the last show of this season.
Our sound people, Robert and Jennifer, do an excellent job every week.
We are not having shows March 26th and April 2nd since it is Easter
Season. Easter Sunday is March 27th and I wish everyone an enjoyable and
healthy Holiday.

Bocce Ball Tournament
Our 2nd Bocce Ball Tournament will be held on Saturday,
March 19, 2016 at 9:30 A.M., on our courts, while players
are requested to be on site at 9:00 A.M., for registration verification and review of rules. Each team will be composed
of (2) two players that are pre-chosen by the players. Registration will begin immediately on March 1, 2016 and will
end on March 18, 2016. You can sign up at the receptionist’s desk (Monday thru Friday, 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.), in
our front office or contact Fred Reimann or Marvin Cooper
when you see them throughout Point East.
Tables and chairs will be provided but all food, non-alcoholic beverages and supplies are the sole responsibility
of the players and viewing audience, not council. Keep in
mind informal Bocce Ball practices are held every Thursday (4:30 P.M.), and Saturday (9:00 A.M.). Courts open
every day 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with lighted courts. It is
time to get off the couch and practice!

Fact: Staying healthy means getting the adequate

disease and type 2 diabetes, at any age. Staying physically active can reduce the risk for diseases and increase
your independence. Staying at an ideal weight can help
you maintain your daily activities and keep you doing

Myth#4: It’s OK to skip a meal if you don’t feel hungry.
Fact: Loss of appetite is a common complaint among
seniors, but skipping a meal means skipping out on your
health. Skipping meals can cause blood sugar levels to
change too often, and can lead to eating unhealthy foods
later when you feel hungry again. How to stay constant?
Experts say, start with a healthy breakfast and then snack
throughout the day even if you don’t have a full meal.
Myth#5: Once you hit 65, it’s too late to start following a healthy lifestyle.
Fact: It’s never too late to make healthy changes in your
diet or lifestyle. Even if you’ve already developed insulin resistance, you can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes
by eating more whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables,
and becoming more physically active. Exercise and a
healthy diet have together been shown to keep arteries
healthy.

Easy Irish Soda Bread
cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly
grease a large baking sheet.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking
soda, baking powder, salt and margarine. Stir in 1 cup
of buttermilk and egg. Turn dough out onto a lightly

brush loaf with
this mixture. Use
a sharp knife to cut
an ‘X’ into the top of the loaf.
Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into
the center of the loaf comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes.
Check for doneness after 30 minutes. You may continue
to brush the loaf with the butter mixture while it bakes.
