Inter Rhone and Grenache Association present:
GRENACHE, the quintessentially Rhone grape
Master class
Rhône Wine Festival – Saturday 14th September 2013

GRENACHE LOVERS UNITE!

We are representing the Grenache Association, a not-for-profit
organisation open to fine wine’s lovers. Members of the Association are
leading International wine organizations, producers, critics, wine
enthusiasts.

Created on the back of the first ever International Grenache
Symposium, a world summit on Grenache, which took place in 2010,
and brought together 270 leading wine experts, critics and producers
from 23 countries.

The idea started with Walter McKinlay, the owner of Domaine de
Mourchon in Seguret. It was chaired by Steven Spurrier, editor of
Decanter Magazine, and Michel Bettane, the leading French Wine
Critic. It was hosted at the Chene Bleu wine estate of Nicole & Xavier
Rolet.
The purpose of the Symposium and the Association is to bring better
knowledge of this great grape. Most winemakers know and like
Grenache, but consumers rarely do. WE ARE PLANNING TO CHANGE
THAT! Our goal is to make sure that Grenache gets the place it
deserves in the Olympus of Wines!

•  If you enjoyed these wines and this presentation, please let us
know!
•  Our Association is a non-profit organisation created to increase
awareness and appreciation of Grenache around the world-- We
educate, inform, celebrate!
•  Like Grenache itself, which is a team player and blends well
with other grapes, our philosophy is to be very inclusive.
•  We believe that everyone benefits from a high level of wine
knowledge: we are not here just to say « we’re the best », « our
wine or our regions are better than theirs ».
•  We think that all winemakers who work hard and make good
wine should be recognises and appreciated, all grapes that
inspire them to greatness should be respected and understood.
•  Grenache, as the most widely planted red grape in the world
deserves its place in the sun.


Grenache is actually the #1 most widely planted red grape in the world.

It is the main grape of Mediterranean-style climates and reflects the
wonderful food and lifestyle of those hot, sunny, dry places.

It comes in many styles because it changes a lot depending where it is
grown, and can make white, red, rosé and even sweet wine.

The most famous regions for Great Grenache are, in France, the Southern
Rhone, Languedoc & Roussillon, in Spain: Priorat , Campo de Borja &
Calatayud ,but many more.

It’s a team player: it has soft, velvety tannins that blend well with many
other grapes and marry well with many flavours, and aromas of fresh red
fruit like strawberries, cherries and plums, and soft spices.

This is why it is so fantastic for food pairing, especially well with
mediterranean food, red goes well with rich meat.

The next International Grenache Day is on September 20, 2013.
Celebrate with us!
+ THANK YOU!
