During his years as a professional cyclist, Paul represented Great Britain at the highest level winning countless medals at World Cup, World Championship and Olympic competitions. His career highlight was winning the Olympic Gold medal in Beijing in the Team Pursuit alongside Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Ed Clancy, breaking the World Record in the process. In 2009, Paul was awarded with an MBE for his services to the sport. Following his retirement after the Beijing Olympic Games, Paul joined the GB Cycling Team coaching staff in the role of women’s endurance coach for British Cycling’s Podium Programme. Paul has been integral to the development and subsequent success of the women’s endurance squad who broke the Team Pursuit world record on six consecutive occasions – the final time being at the Olympic Games in London where Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott won Gold. Laura Trott then went on to win a second Gold medal in the Omnium under the coaching guidance of Paul. Stephen Benjamin Parry is a former British butterfly swimmer. He competed internationally in 100-metre and 200-metre butterfly distances. He excelled during his time in the United States, winning the NCAA title in the 200 m butterfly. After returning to Britain and joining Stockport Metro, he set a Commonwealth record at the 2000 US Nationals in Seattle, beating, among others, a very young Michael Phelps. Later that year he qualified for his first Olympic Games in Sydney. Four years later in Athens, Greece, Parry won Britain's first Olympic swimming medal in eight years at the Athens Summer Olympics in 200-metres butterfly, being beaten by Michael Phelps and Takashi Yamamoto. Phelps had beaten him into 4th place at Sydney four years earlier. Parry retired from competitive swimming in 2005. After retiring, Parry joined up with former training partner Adrian Turner to create a swimming training program for young people called Total Swimming.
