YAHYA KEMAL BEYATLI ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL HOSTED THE TURKISH CONFERENCE
From 27th April to 02nd May 2014,
eight partner countries met for the
seventh conference in Istanbul,
Turkey.!
On Sunday evening, all teachers got
together at the hotel and joined the
welcome dinner with Mr. Necip
Daglı, Deputy Headmaster of Yahya
Kemal Beyatlı Anatolian High
School, at Fish Restaurant ‘Balıkçı
Hasan’ in Yesılkoy.!
On Monday, all participant schools
met in the host school. The Turkish
Team welcomed all guests. The
deputy headmaster, Mr. Necip Dagli
officially welcomed the guests at the
conference hall and the students
made presentations about Turkey,
Istanbul and Turkish Educational
System and a movie about Turkey
was watched. Then all coordinators
had a school tour in the guidance of
project coordinator Didem Dundar.
While the students were doing
drama workshop with psychological
counselor Pelin Aksu, the
coordinators had their conference.
After the meeting, all coordinators
joined and observed the students’
drama workshop for a while. After
lunchtime, the students joined and
learnt a traditional folk dance activity
and the coordinators observed the
students. On Tuesday morning, the
students made percussion
workshop with project coordinator,
Didem Dundar. After that, students
joined photography workshop and
learnt how to make “light painting” in
photography. They wrote their
slogans with light painting and after
lunchtime, the students made
videos with the photographs taken
by them. The coordinators joined at
paper marbling workshop at Istanbul
Metropolitan Municipality Art and
Vocational Training Center and
created their own paper marbling.
After lunchtime they joined and
observed the students.!
On Wednesday morning, we set off
to historical part of Istanbul. We
visited Topkapı Palace, Hagia
Sophia Museum, Underground
Cistern, Sultan Ahmet (Blue
Mosque) Mosque and Sultan Ahmet
Square. On Thursday morning, we had a
boat tour along the Bosphorus. In
the afternoon, we visited Miniaturk
outdoor museum. !
In the evening, we all met at the
hotel Blue Regency for farewell
party. After watching the final
presentation working with videos
made by the students, we had
d i n n e r a n d w a t c h e d Tu r k i s h
students’ singing and folk dance
performance of a professional
dance team. It was great to watch
the cups song performance of all
students. All teams collected their
certificates and gifts. Then the
students performed the dances they
learnt on the first day. !
