Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing”. Jesus presents to us today a daring and powerful image. He presents the Father as the vine-grower, Himself as the true vine, and we as the branches. This image of the vine and branches illustrates who and what we are to be as Church. The Church is truly the visible Sacrament of Christ in the world. Indeed, we belong to something much greater than ourselves. As the Body of Christ in the world, we draw our nourishment and life from Christ, the true vine, most especially through the Eucharist we celebrate. Jesus must be the center and source of everything we say and do. The fruit of our words and work manifest the face of Christ to others. This may not always be easy given our tendency to fall into sin and temptation, but the Father, the vinegrower, will also be there to prune whatever that hinders us to bear fruit. This week we take the time to reflect upon who is truly at the center of lives. We identify our source of life and nourishment. We take an honest look at the things that prevents us to bear fruit, i.e. not allowing others to encounter Christ through us. In everything that we do for home, school, and work, can people recognize the person of Jesus? When we come together as Church do we make Christ present in the celebration of the Mass through our active, full, and conscience participation? Do we respond to the call to service and ministry serving our brothers and sisters or do we prefer to be fruitless by ignoring the call through indifference? We can also be fruitful branches when we extend the gift of mercy and forgiveness that God generously bestow upon us when we become merciful and forgiving to others. God bless! Resti's New Assignment We congratulate Fr. Resti as he prepares for his new assignment at St. Joseph's in Vacaville. Fr.
