Happy Fall Spouses! The year is off to a great start. We'd like to thank everyone who came
out to the Vendor Blender and give a special shout out to the organizations that supported
the OSC by participating in the expo. If you were one of the first 75 spouses to sign up for
membership and have not received your cooler bag, please contact one of the board
members.
With the help of our social chairs, we have had a variety of events that have taken place
and many more planned for the upcoming months. Please remember to "FRIEND" our
Facebook page (Cherry Point OSC) to make sure you are seeing all the social event invites
and weekly reminders for what's going on.
The Assistance Committee met the last week in October to vet the fall applications. Stay
tuned for updates. Remember that there will be a spring application process as well. Don't
forget to spread the word to about our Assistance and Scholarship Grants!

Long after most holiday gifts have been forgotten, an
investment through Edward Jones can still be valued by
those who receive it.
Whether it’s stocks, bonds, mutual funds or 529 contributions, your Edward Jones financial advisor can help you
decide which investment is most appropriate.
Because when it’s the thought that counts, thinking about
their financial well-being means a lot.
Contributions to a 529 plan may be eligible for a state tax deduction or credit in
certain states for those residents.

Our focus as a squadron in November and
December will be preparing the next
iteration of SPMAGTF-Crisis Response (CR)
for their deployment after the New Year. We
currently have 85 Marines deployed to
Moron Air Base in southern Spain supporting
SPMAGTF-CR on a continual basis that we
switch out every 6 months.
Additionally, we will be focusing our efforts
on training many new aircrews who are
arriving this fall and winter. We have seven
new Lieutenants scheduled to join the
squadron before the end of the year,
bringing our total number of Lieutenants to
13!
This is an unprecedented number of junior
officers in VMGR-252 as the time to train in
flight school continues to decrease and Otis
takes on a bigger role in Fleet Replacement
Squadron training. We are anxious to get to
know these new officers and to get their
young families involved.
Wishing you all wonderful holiday season!

few hours of “adult” only time. We also
enjoyed a September Spa Night at Hot Locks
Salon in New Bern. This was an event for all of
our Deployed Spouses, and a great time was
had by all of the ladies in attendance. We were
pampered for a glorious 2 hours! At the
conclusion of the evening, the question of
“When can we do this again” was heard several
times! The Lady Tigers also had a large
presence at the MAG-14 Sponsored Wine
Tasting Tour to Huffman Vineyards. The
evening was full many of good laughs, lots of
great conversation, a plethora of samples
drank, and numerous bottles purchased!
Overall, it was a fantastic evening had by all of
the Lady Tigers! Next month the Lady Tiger
OSC are going to attempt to hone our cooking
skills in preparation of the upcoming Holidays,
we hope to learn how to prepare some killer
appetizers!
As our Marines and Sailors prepare to return
next month, our families will be busy with
making banners to decorate the Squadron and
their homes in early November. Our Tiger
Family will also be celebrating with a
Thanksgiving Dinner at the Squadron on
November 25th. It is looking to be a wonderful

+We want to hear
celebrate and kick off the
Holiday weekend.
Early December will also be a
busy time in the Squadron.
The Squadron will be putting
on a “Home for the Holidays”
Holiday Party at Miller’s
Landing in early December. It
is in the initial planning stages
with the Marines, and several
of our Squadron volunteers,
but so far it is shaping up to be
a “don’t miss, adult only”
event! Jay and I will also be
hosting one final Hail and
Farewell that same weekend.
On December 11th, the VMA542 Change of Command will
take place, and LtCol Roger
Hardy and his wife Patty will
assume command of the Tiger
Family. Jay and I are sad to
leave this great family, but we
know it will be in good hands.
I have enjoyed the past 22
months with the Tiger Family,
and 4 ½ years as a member of
the CP OSC. I have made
many new friends, and
reconnected with old ones
over the years through the CP
OSC. It has been a pleasure to
have served on the Executive
Board and as a Committee
member for this wonderful
organization! Thank you for
allowing me to do so!

In October, VMA-223
happily welcomed home the Great
American Bulldogs that were part
of the 22nd MEU. While on the USS
Bataan, the squadron was part of
the Bataan Amphibious Ready
Group as a theater reserve and
crisis response force in northern
Africa and the Middle East. In
addition, our Marines provided
intelligence, surveillance,
reconnaissance and strikes against
the Islamic State. The MEU
detachment was also featured on a
viral video that showed one of our
Harrier pilots impressively
performing a vertical landing on a
stool when the nose landing gear
failed.

Happy fall! I would like to thank everyone
who supported our Golf Tournament Ball
Fundraiser as well as all the spouses who
donated goodies to our bake
sale. Everything was delicious, and you
helped us raise over $500! We are excited
about our 2014 Marine
Corps Ball on
November 14th at the
Crystal Coast Civic
Center in Morehead
City. Our H&HS
Marines just celebrated
a Warrior Night with an
awesome guest
speaker, Col Joe Dowdy. It was a night of
great tradition and camaraderie. Some
upcoming events for H&HS are a Single
Marine Holiday Meal on November 20th,
Breakfast with Santa on December
6th, and our Squadron Christmas
Party with a "Casino Night" theme on
