It gives me immense pleasure to present the ninth issue of “REFLECTION”. This internal newsletter is one of the ways in which we can disseminate information on
the life of the Department

1. Ammen Singh and Ms. Auzita Irani has won Gokhale Cup for Elocution competition on 25th
Jan 2014 in Nowrosjee Wadia.
2. Ammen Singh & Dheeraj Agarwal has won Table Tennis competition dated on 20th Dec 2014.
3. Meeta Shimpi has performed Arangetram dated on 6th Jan at Tilak Smarak Mandir, Pune.
4. Samyak Bhalerao has won at Krida Mahotsav 2013at Nashik.
5. Deepak C Mahajan, Sanket A Sancheti, Prasad R Jadhav, Atul M Nikhade, secured forst prize
in paper presentation at 3rd National Conference for students in Electrical and Engineering
organized by IEEE students branch of VIIT,Pune .
6. Garima Goyal, Onkar Borgaokar, Abhijeet Nirmal, Avinash More secured the first Prize in
Paper Presentation at 3rd National Conference for Students in Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized by IEEE Students Branch of VIIT, Pune
7. Bhavika Shah, Gunjan Pahilajani, Megha Chopade, Trupti Shelke have published a paper titled
"Cloud Based Sub-urban Railway Ticket Booking And Validating System For Android Phone"
in International Conference On Science And Technology (ICST2K14) .
8. Anagha Khati, Auzita Irani, Naba Inamdar, Rashmi Soni,has publish the paper titled “Pattern
based security using machine learning techniques” in Journal of Harmonized Research in Engineering(ISSN No. 2347-7393) April,2014 under the guidance of Prof .S.K.Wagh.

A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of S.E. Computer on the topic of “.Graduate
Entrance Exam” on 7th January 2014. The speaker for the session was Prof. Kulkarni from
Ness Wadia College. He gave detail information about the procedure of graduate entrance
exam.
A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of B. E. Computer on the topic of “Secure

Coding” on 29th January 2013. The speaker for the session was Mr. Amol Patil. The Speaker
gave information about Overflows and format string vulnerabilities, Code injection, etc.
A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of B. E. Computer on the topic of “Hadoop
Map Reduce Framework and HDFS” on 13th Februaryry 2013. The speaker for the session
was Mr. Sandeep Dange (Alumni 2012-13) from K2 Technosoft . The Speaker enlightens
students with Hadoop technology, its features and its scope in industry.

The Department organized Two Days National Conference “Recent Advances
Engineering (RACE 2014) on 20th and 21st March 2014.

Target Audience: PG Students of various Engineering colleges, Research Scholars from industry and Faculty from various colleges.
Activity Report The Second Two Days National Level Conference on Recent Advances in
Computer Engineering (RACE 2014) organized by the Department of Computer Engineering
was successfully conducted on 20thand 21stMarch 2014. The National Level Conference on Recent Advances in Computer Engineering was the premier forum for presentation of new advances and research results in the field of Computer Engineering. The conference had bought together Researchers, and Engineers the domain of interest from variety of disciplines such as Computer, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. All the research papers, that were presented, have been published in the proceedings of the conference
bearing an ISSN. The proceeding was released during the inaugural function.

Digital Renaissance - 2014
The Computer Department had arranged an inter-college technical event/competition organized
by ACE (The Association of Computer Engineers) of the Computer Department.
Target Audience: S.E, T.E, B.E students from other colleges .
Activity Report: Two day technical inter college event “Digital Renaissance - 2014” was organized on the 27rh - 28rh feb 2014 at MESCOE - Pune. An inter-college technical event/
competition organized by ACE (The Association of Computer Engineers) of the Computer Department. Nine Different events run in parallel over the course of two days. Each event is
managed by 2 coordinators, 2 or more volunteers as well as 2 teacher/staff coordinators.

AlLUMNI MEET ’2014
An ALUMNI MEET 2014 was arranged by Alumni Association of MES College of Engineering, Pune on Saturday, 22nd Feb 2014. A total of 51 Alumni participated in the event . 18
Alumni of the computer Engg department participated in this event.
The main objective behind the meet was to brief the alumni about the college activities,
to explore the possibilities of a partnership between the Alumni and the college for various
activities such as lab developments etc to create awareness between passed out students as well
as Faculty of MESCoE, Pune. Alumni has interacted with current batch B.E students and given
their suggestions related to Final Year Projects.
