Aviation Maintenance Technology - Spartan College of Aeronautics
Aviation Maintenance
Technology
The field of aviation maintenance can be exciting and rewarding. Aircraft
must undergo thorough inspections, maintenance and repairs on a regular basis by technicians certified by the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA). Complete a diploma program in as little as 15 months or an associate degree in 18
months. Both programs are designed to prepare you for the Airframe and Powerplant Certification (A&P License).
Companies in many industries such as auto and diesel, racing and heavy-equipment seek the high quality,
detail-oriented skills possessed by certified aviation maintenance (A&P) technicians. This desire opens the opportunities
for aviation maintenance technicians to aviation and beyond.

Aviation Maintenance Technology (Diploma)
Associate of Applied Science Aviation Maintenance Technology (Degree)
(Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic D.O.T. 621.281-014)
These programs are designed to teach students the technical skills required to become entry-level airframe and power-plant
technicians or obtain employment in related professions. Successful completion qualifies the graduates to take the written, oral and
practical tests with the Federal Aviation Administration for the Mechanic’s Certificate with both Airframe and Power-plant Ratings.
The skills and knowledge gained from the diploma program are applicable to other maintenance industries and professions as well
as aviation. The knowledge gained through the additional general education courses in the associate degree program enhance the
students’ background and intellectual proficiency so they are more competitive in their chosen professions.
