There is a $50.00/hour fee, with a two hour minimum for early or late service. Whether it is a quick turn, rental car, overnight hangar or all of the above, call us at 717792-5566 to pre-arrange dependable after hours service. ---------------------------------- Night Approach Update On December 4th, bids were opened for the obstruction removal project necessary to re-establish our night approach to Runway 35. We received five bids and the low bid is within budget. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation will be receiving all of the information today for review and after the review is complete, they will issue the actual grant. The State may take up to 45 days to perform their review, but they are aware of the critical nature of this project to our operations, so hopefully it will take less time. After the grant is received, we will immediately issue the contractor a "Notice to Proceed". The contractor has thirty days from the Notice to Proceed to remove all of the trees and install the lights on the fence. Then, we are told it is simply a matter of the Engineer submitting a certification to the FAA that the obstructions have been removed and they will immediately reinstate the night approach to runway 35. This is a long and tedious process that has required countless hours of our staff's time, the cooperation of our neighbors on Ridge Road, the expertise of our Engineer and collaboration from both PennDOT BOA and the FAA. Most of all it has necessitated your patience, for which we sincerely thank you. T-Hangar Bi-Fold Door Safety Alert Kitty Hawk Restaurant Kitty Hawk restaurant, located in the main terminal building at the York Airport, delivers some of the best priced meals in town. With meals ranging from $3.50 to $14.95, you can enjoy favorites including eggs, New York steak, burgers, crab cakes, soups and even homemade baked oatmeal. Many pilots fly into York Airport just to eat at Kitty Hawk, and doing so waives the ramp fee-- even without the purchase of fuel. We have noticed some examples of improper operation of the electric bi-fold hangar doors on the airfield, which have led to dangerous conditions and major repairs. We would like to take this opportunity to review the proper procedure to safely operate your bi-fold door. 1) Ensure the area outside of the hangar (where the door will open and fold) is clear of obstructions such as parked cars or other aircraft. 2) If equipped, make sure the side latches and gust pin(s) are disengaged. 3) When opening or closing the door, remain at the controls in the event the door needs to be stopped quickly -- such as a moving obstruction or the doors operating out of parameters. Never push a button and walk away or jam the switch in the open or closed position. Always be present to stop the door quickly if necessary. 4) Do not operate the doors in extremely high winds. Taking these precautions will ensure safe door operation and will reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage. If you are having any issues with the operation of your door, please let us know as soon as possible so repairs can be made. KTHV Parking Information After arriving at the York Airport, most aircraft will be either marshaled to a parking spot or will be directed via Unicom. We have two rows of "long-term" tie downs adjacent to the "T" hangars as you approach the ramp. There are also tie down spots on the extreme north end of the ramp as well as in front of our maintenance shop. For any assistance contact York Unicom (123.00). Meet Your Flight Support Team Jody Baker - Customer Service Representative Jody has been a York Aviation team member for over 10 years. Between her business school training from York Technical Institute and years of dispatch and call center experience prior to joining the team, her transition to coordinating arrangements for flight crews and passengers and communicating information on the UNICOM was a natural one. Jody is valued team member and ready to employ her experience and skill to resolve your airside and travel requirements. Next time you stop by York Aviation in the evenings or on weekends, say hello to Jody and expect service, with a smile! Runway Reader Classifieds Narco 122 NAV Unit Narco 122 NAV - $950 This is a complete ILS unit that fits in a standard 3 ¼ inch hole. I purchased this unit on Ebay about 4 years ago for my aircraft but, because of health issues, never installed it. Last fall the unit was checked out on the bench by Ben Travis at Smart Avionics at Deck Airport. The reason for the low price is the nav flag is inoperable. All nav frequencies are selectable and operable as well as all localizer and GS frequencies. The localizer, glide slope and marker beacons all worked perfectly. There is a very slight rough spot when selecting the frequency but all frequencies are easily selectable. The CDI needle is responsive and accurate and when an ILS frequency is selected the localizer needle and GS needle are precise. This will make a great and economical primary or backup ILS unit where panel space is limited. It comes with a connector.
