Future Meetings July 25th Sabah and Borneo with Ian Chalmers Aug 29th AGM and Sam Tsui Sept 26th Stage 2 Equador by Garrie Bromley The next meeting is on 25th July. The meeting was declared closed at 9.30pm I don't trip over things, I do random gravity checks. Old age is coming at a really bad time. When I was a child I thought Nap Time was a punishment ... now, as a grown up, it just feels like a small vacation. The biggest lie I tell myself is ... "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." Lord grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change things I can and the friends to post my bail when I finally snap. I don't have grey hair. I have "wisdom highlights". My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance to idiots that needs work. Teach your daughter how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees. The kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no" which is shorter than "yes". I'm going to retire and live off of my savings. Not sure what I'll do that second week. Even duct tape can't fix stupid ... but it can muffle the sound. Why do I have to press one for English when you're just gonna transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway? Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice. At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I actually came in there for. Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller. Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet. 4 Orchid News July 2016 AFFILIATED SOCIETY SHOWS JULY-AUGUST, 2016 JULY 20-23 July Boolaroo Orchid Society Stockland Mall, Wallsend 20-23 July Fairfield District Orchid Society Fairfield Forum Station Street Fairfield 22-23 July Batemans' Bay Orchid Club Soldiers Club Beach Rd, Bateman's Bay 21-24 July Cumberland Orchid Circle Home Hub, Castle Hill 28-31 July Bankstown Orchid Society Bass Hill Plaza, 753 Hume Hwy, Bass Hill 4-7 August Five Dock RSL Orchid Society Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre, Roseby St Drummoyne 5-7 August Manly Warringah Orchid Society Dee Why RSL Club, Pittwater Rd, Dee Why 11-14 August Campbelltown District Orchid Society Narellan Town Centre, Camden Valley Way, Narrellan 12-14 August National Orchid Extravaganza The Centre, 1 Pellitt Lane, Round Corner, Dural 18-21 August Western Suburbs Orchid Society Ashfield Mall Shopping Centre, Liverpool Rd, Ashfield 19-21 August St Ives Orchid Fair St Ives Showground 19-21 August Sapphire Coast Orchid Club Twyford Hall, Market St Merimbula 26-28 August Eurobodalla Orchid Club Leisure Centre, Narooma 31Aug - 3 Sept Alstonville Orchid Society Alstonville Plaza, Alstonville 31Aug - 3 Sept Fairfield District Orchid Society Fairfield Forum, Station Street, Fairfield AUGUST National Orchid Extravaganza Friday 12 August 9am-4pm Saturday 13 August 9am-4pm Sunday 14 August 12noon-4pm The Centre, 1 Pellitt Lane, Dural Website: http://ccansw.com.au/events_dural.html 5 Orchid News July 2016 Sale of Murray Coirrigan's Orchid Collection The auction and sale of Murray Corrigan’s orchid collection will take place on Sunday 7th August 2016, at his home at 19 Allington Crescent, Elanora Heights, NSW. Unfortunately Murray has been unable to maintain his plant collection after suffering a stroke, and is now in a nursing home at Narrabeen. The auction (of 80 select plants – many specimen size) will start at 11.00 am, with viewing of the collection from 10.00 am. Most of these have been grown in a cold glasshouse, with a number in the shadehouse or outside under cover. There are a lot of Australian Dendrobium specimen plants that would make ideal garden subjects, as the tags are faded. All plants are to go on the day.
