Remember in Prayer
As members of the parish faith community, it
i s
our responsibility to remember both in concrete and spiritual ways those who cannot celebrate with us each week
because they are ill. Those who are sick in turn, remember all of us daily in their prayers and in their sufferings.
We experience many blessings because of their remembering us. And so...please remember in your prayers:

Roses to those on the
Way of the Cross
It remains our sincere hope that through
word and deed, education and example,
we young and old one heritage or another, would all come to know that our
care for Our Church — His really, is done
through small and not so small gestures of help
and support. As a source of hope and inspiration it
is our intention to publish those names in print
who have done outstanding work in the course of
the week to “plant a rose” so to speak along the
way as we carry the cross in the glory of the victory “He” won. Our part though small can and
does grow. We might need to see the proof. The
names are both a thank you and attempt to have
lots of roses where ever “the cross” is.

Almighty
God,
stretch
forth
Your
mighty arm to
strengthen and protect the men and women
of our Armed Forces. As they face the myriad of challenges and decisions that each day is destined to bring,
may they be anchored by their faith, protected by Your
presence and comforted by the knowledge that they are
loved by You and by this community of faith. Grant that,
meeting danger with courage, and all occasions with discipline loyalty, they may truly serve the cause of justice
and peace to the honor of your holy name, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen. May God keep you safe!

When God Made Moms..
By the time the Lord made mothers, he was into his sixth day of working
overtime. An Angel appeared and said “Why are you spending so much time
on this one?”
The Lord answered and said “Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has
to be completely washable, but not plastic; have 200 movable parts, all replaceable; run on black coffee and leftovers; have lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up; have a kiss that can
cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart and six pair of hands.
The angel was astounded at the requirements for this one “Six pairs of hands!
No way!’ said the angel.
The Lord replied, “Oh, it’s not the hands that are the problem, it’s the three
pairs of eyes that mothers must have.” “And that’s jus on the standard
model?” the angel asked.
The Lord nodded in agreement, “Yep, one pair of eyes are to see through the
closed door as she asks her children what they were doing, even, though she
already knows. Another pair in the back of her head are to see what she needs
to know even though no one thinks she can and the third pair are here in the
front of her head. They are for looking at an errant child and saying that she
understands and loves him and without even saying a single word”.
The angel tried to stop the Lord, This is too much work for one day. Wait
until tomorrow to finish.”
“But I can’t” the Lord protested. “I am so close to finishing this creation that
is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick and
can feed a family of six on a pound of hamburger and can get nine year old to
stand in the shower”.
The angel moved closer and touched the woman. “But you have made her so
soft, Lord.”
“She is soft,” the Lord agreed, “but I have also made her tough. You have no
idea what she can endure or accomplish.”
“Will she be able to think? Asked the angel.
The Lord replied, “Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate.”
The angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the women’s
cheek. “Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that
you were trying to put too much into this one.” “This is not a leak,” the Lord
objected. “That’s a tear!” “What’s a tear for?” the angel asked.
The Lord said, “The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow her disappointment, her pain, her loneliness, her grief and her pride.”
The angel was impressed. “You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything. MOTHERS are truly amazing.”

ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
May 11, 2008
OFFICE OF THE CARDINAL
Dear Friends in Christ,
On this Feast of Pentecost, we celebrate the love of God poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We also
celebrate Mother’s Day and gratefully honor our mothers and all women who, in their magnanimous love,
have shared the gift of life with their children.
There are many ministries in the Church and many gifts of the Spirit that manifest God’s love. The gift of
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is to “hear the cry of the poor” and reach out to heal Christ’s
body through compassionate service to those in need.
From generation to generation, for more than 90 years, Catholic Charities has cared with the love of a mother
for poor and vulnerable families, children, seniors and hungry and homeless people. Last year, Catholic Charities in Cook and Lake Counties touched the lives of 1.1 million people in need—of all generations, faiths, ethnic and racial backgrounds.
Over the past year, Catholic Charities nurtured 2,235 children in caring child development centers; provided
nutritious food for tens of thousands of infants, children and pregnant mothers in low-income neighborhoods;
provided maternity and adoption services; and counseled hundreds of pregnant and parenting teens.
How else is Catholic Charities caring for the vulnerable? Homeless families suffering from a lack of affordable housing, education or job skills are healed and strengthened by emergency services or comprehensive,
long-term family self-sufficiency programs that assure a future of hope for thousands of mothers and children
each year. The dignity and independence of elderly people are advanced at Catholic Charities’ twenty affordable senior residences, at senior and adult day care centers, and through in-home care and meal services.
The mothers helped by Catholic Charities are young and old, married and single, healthy and in need of healing, and Catholic Charities cares for each one with respect and compassion. Trusting in the spirit of God who
binds the Church together in the unity of charity, I ask you today to offer what you can to assist Catholic
Charities in its mission of charity to the next generation of mothers and children.
May Mary, Mother of the Church, bless your generosity to this appeal. On this Mother’s Day, you and those
you love are in my prayers; please keep me in yours.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago

ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
OFFICE OF THE CARDINAL
11 maja, 2008 r.
Drodzy Przyjaciele w Chrystusie,
bezbronne rodziny, dzieci i seniorów, głodnych i bezdomnych ludzi.
tysiącom matek i dzieci każdego roku. By zapewnić godność i niezależność ludziom starszym, organizacja Catholic
pomocy. Catholic Charities do każdego w potrzebie podchodzi z szacunkiem i zrozumieniem.
Wasz szczerze oddany w Chrystusie,
Francis Kardynał George, O.M.I. Arcybiskup Chicago

i Cezarego Gotowalskich, którzy ufundowali główną nagrodę loteryjną. Niech Was Pan Bóg nadal błogosławi, a
Matka Boska Ludźmierska ma Was w swojej opiece
„Bóg Zapłać”.
Zaś naszym członkom Koła, którzy przyczynili się swoimi poczynaniami i działaniami, niech Gaździna Podhala
daje dużo sił i wspaniałych pomysłów, aby kolejne nasze
imprezy były jeszcze świetniejsze i lepsze. Szczęść Boże.
