Dear Friends of Westchester Lutheran Church and School,
It is with great excitement and joy that we welcome you to our 2013 Carnival and Silent Auction,
“Around the World in 80 Days”. We invite you to join in the festivities as we celebrate
another banner year at Westchester Lutheran Church and School. We’re looking forward to a
wonderful day of family fun and couldn’t be more excited to share this event with so many
dedicated members of the school, church, and community!
We are indeed grateful for the generous support from our school families and community
members. We offer our gratitude to each and every donor for playing an integral role in the
success of our Silent Auction. We want to encourage everyone to patronize the businesses that
have made donations to our silent auction and let them know how appreciative Westchester
Lutheran is for their involvement and generosity.
We would also like to recognize another component vital to the success of our Silent Auction;
the Silent Auction Committee. With heartfelt appreciation, we extend our thanks to this mighty
team of school parents. Countless hours have been spent preparing an incredible auction
offering and transforming Fellowship Hall into a creative wonder. We are blessed to have these
volunteers in the WLS family. Hats off to Heather Alvarez, Linda Bragadottir, Annette Durso,
Tiffany Epps, Rona Goldberg, Judy Hernandez, Krista Maire, Kay Osborn, Lisa O’Leary, Alison

Thank you for joining us for this event filled with fun and fundraising. All of the proceeds raised
through our Silent Auction will be directed to The WLS Building Fund; keeping us steady on our
path to “Realizing our Dream…..Building our Future”.

GENERAL AUCTION INSTRUCTIONS AND RULES
The Westchester Lutheran Church and School (“WLCS”) Silent Auction will be held in the Fellowship
Hall on June 1, 2013. It will open for viewing and bidding at 10:00 am and close using a staggered
closing format beginning at 3:30 pm. The staggered closing format is structured such that predesignated tables will be closed at 15 minute intervals; 3:30 pm, 3:45 pm and a final closing at 4:00
pm.
All items in the Silent Auction have bid sheets with corresponding numbers indicating a minimum
opening bid. Each successive bid must equal or exceed the minimum raise stated on the bid sheet in
order to constitute a valid bid.
All bidders must check-in at the Auction entrance and confirm or be assigned a bidder number. This is
a 4digit number (in most cases, the last 4 digits of your home phone number). Once bidders have
confirmed a personal bidder number, bidding may begin. To enter a bid, complete name, bidder
number and bid amount on the uppermost blank line available on the bid sheet. Bidders must be 18
years of age or older. Parents are responsible for bids placed by children under 18. Bid
sheet adjustment may occur only with the approval and signature of a Silent Auction
Committee member. Moreover, the Silent Auction Committee reserves the right to adjust opening
bid amounts and minimum raise amounts at any time before or during the auction, at the Committee's
discretion. Any such adjustments will affect only those bids that are entered after the adjustment is
made. In the event of any dispute, a member of WLCS's Silent Auction Committee shall render the
final decision to determine the winning bid.
The last bid entered on the bid sheet when the Auction is closed constitutes the winning bid, provided
it complies with the minimum bid and increase requirements. The WLCS Silent Auction Committee
reserves the right to take some auction items to closed bidding prior to the Auction closing, as
necessary. Beginning at 3:30 pm, bid sheets will be collected as each table closes. By 4:00 pm, when
all tables are closed, the Auction Room and Fellowship Hall will close so that all bid sheets may be
prepared for payment and distribution of auction items.
Payment for winning bids will commence at 5:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Those winning bidders not
present will be notified by phone the following day. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit
card (VISA and MasterCard). Checks should be made out to Westchester Lutheran School.
Items not claimed the day of the auction will be held for pick-up for one week only! The WLCS Silent
Auction Committee reserves the right to award an unclaimed auction item to another bidder.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL, and no exchanges or refunds are possible. Merchandise is sold “as is,” and
WLCS neither warrants nor represents, and shall in no event be responsible for, the correctness of the
description, authorship, or condition of the property. WLCS is not responsible for the quality of the
goods or services of the donor. WLCS cannot provide any servicing guarantee with the item.
Stated values of auction items and services are appraisals provided by the donor only, and are not
warranted for tax purposes or for general value. Contributions to this event are tax-deductible to the
extent allowed by law. Please consult your personal tax representative for more specific information.
Value indicated on restaurant gift certificates exclude tax, service charge, gratuity, wine, and
beverage, and is not redeemable for cash unless otherwise stated.
No statement in the auction catalog is to be considered a warranty or guarantee of the items. Each
bidder agrees to hold WLCS, and their employees and volunteers, harmless from any liability.
