3. FIREFIGHTER FOR A DAY.
This is every kid’s dream day! A guest of honor with his or her
family (up to 4) will join the City of Muskegon firefighters for a
personal tour of the downtown fire station, pictures with the
firefighters, and as the guests of honor you’ll ride in the City
of Muskegon fire truck during the Labor Day parades (yes, two
parades!). Start the day with the downtown Muskegon parade and
end it with the Lakeside parade. Takes place on September 7, 2015.

8. PLOUGH MAN, ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING
BY WALTER SHIRLAW.
This idyllic landscape painting is quintessential of Walter Shirlaw’s
(1838-1909) work. He studied at the Munich School in Germany
and by 1861 he was exhibiting in the National Academy of
Design. He was one of the first artists to have an exhibition at the
Hackley Art Gallery when we first opened in 1912 and many of
his pieces are part of the MMA’s permanent collection. A RARE
OPPORTUNITY!

12.GEORGE NELSON SWAG LEG CHAIR BY HERMAN MILLER.
Designer George Nelson worked with Zeeland based Herman Miller
for over 25 years. The design for this chair started with the legs;
Nelson wanted them to be gracefully curved and made from metal.
It is clear to see that design for Nelson and Herman Miller has
always been about the whole product, not just bits and pieces. This
1958 designed Swag Leg Chair has truly stood the test of time.

19.1958 WAGEMAKER “WOLVERINE” WOODEN BOAT.
This Grand Rapids made Wagemaker Wolverine was recently
completely restored by MMA member and docent, Don Rohlck.
Don is a master craftsman and loves a tough project. Since he is
onto his next project, he wants to see someone else enjoy the
fruits of his labor in this beautiful classic wooden boat. The boat
is complete with Evinrude Lark 35 HP motor (50th Anniversary
Edition, the first with electric start), trailer (600 lb load capacity and
2-inch ball), life preservers, anchor, fenders, mooring lines, boat
hook, throw cushion, tool box, first aid kit, marine fire extinguisher,
American flag, and U of M flag.

A large selection of Silent Auction items will also be on
display at the Gala…something for everyone!
All items for the live and silent auctions have been donated, and all
proceeds from the auctions will support the exhibitions and programs of
the Muskegon Museum of Art.
Auction Rules
• Successful live and silent auction bids are final. Returns or
exchanges are not accepted. All items sold “as is.”
• Winning bidders must make payment for all items secured prior to
leaving the Gala tonight and may pay by check, cash, or credit card.
• Successful bidders are responsible for arranging for specific dates,
as needed, for all dinner, event, trips, tours, and special outings
with the donor no later than February 28, 2016. Obligations by
donors to fulfill donaged items are cancelled after this date.
• Successful bidders are responsible for taking tangible live and
silent auction purchases home at the end of this evening.
Items can be picked up at auction tents with proof of purchase.
Arrangements to pick up large items must be made with staff by the
end of this evening.
• The Auctioneer will determine the bid increase required for each
live auction item.
• Payments by credit card (American Express, VISA, Discover, or
Master Card), check, or cash are accepted.
