Officers At Annual Conference
Lincoln, NE, November 9, 2012: The following community bankers were elected to serve a two-year term and represent the 80 member bank charters of the only state trade

Outgoing Chairman Selko presented the Chairman's
Award to community banker Steven R. Ausdemore, president, Citizens Sate Bank of Wisner. Mr. Ausdemore exemplifies everything the chairman's award repents-a community banker whose dedication, commitment and achievements have exemplified a true independent community
banker. Steve Ausdemore grew up on a farm northwest of
Crofton, graduated form Wayne State College and started
his career at a community bank in then joining another
community banking group that started at 2 locations and
grew to 11 locations under his management. He has been
with the Citizens State Bank group for 30 years. Active in
his community, among some of Steve's accomplishments
are Eucharistic Minster and Church Trustee, Wisner Plan-

Parkside Manor News
November 12-17, 2012
A tribute to Veteran’s Day was
held Monday. A group of men met in
the morning where they heard readings and did lots of reminiscing about
their military days. Before the noon
meal, we all said the “Pledge of Allegiance” together. Exercise was done
to the music tape. A sing along was
held in the living room where all the
songs that were sung were patriotic
songs. l:l visits were held in the afternoon. After social hour, Marjorie
played the piano and sang for the
residents.
The Rosary was prayed by
Agnes Krobot Tuesday morning.
Amber took a few people out for
walks today. The residents who like
to go outside don’t seem to care if it
is chilly or not. The St. Boniface
Christian Mothers were the hostesses for Bingo this afternoon. The
ladies who were here to help were
Mary Ann Hoffman, Punk Steinhauser, Rosie Hladky, Judy Schmitz,
and Edith Tielke. The ladies stayed
to enjoy a cup of coffee with the residents. Later, a group of residents
helped the kitchen by peeling a large
batch of potatoes to be used for
lunch the next day. We all had fun
visiting while getting some work accomplished.
The cooking group met Wednesday morning to make white cupcakes. They frosted them with pink
frosting and these were enjoyed for
social hour. Judy was busy in the
beauty shop most of the day. While
some people were cooking, others
were busy watching a wildlife video.
A lively game of horseshoes was
played in the living room before
lunch. In the afternoon, the crafters met
and painted wooden hearts, while others were busy working on a puzzle and
visiting with family.
Thursday morning a few games of 7
-Up were played. The card players
really enjoy this game. Diana was doing hairstyles all day today. Group exercise was done in the living room. In
the afternoon, a group of women from
the nursing home attended the Red
Hats meeting in the Assisted Living.
The ladies really like these gettogethers and we appreciate the ladies
who come in to host the meetings for
us. Thirsty Thursday was held at 3:00
with a great crowd in attendance. This
is an important, fun, social activity for
the residents, staff and families. Please
feel free to come join us anytime you
wish. We will not be holding Thirsty
Thursday on Thanksgiving Day.
Pastor Wayne Owens was here to
lead the weekly Protestant church service Friday morning. Elaine Schorn
played the organ for the hymns that
were sung. Most of the ladies had their
nails done by Gayle today. A few
games of Wii bowling were played in the
living room. Father Luke Steffes was
here to celebrate Mass with the residents and people from the community
this afternoon. In celebration of their
mother’s birthday, we were happy to
have a family bring in a beautifully decorated cake for social hour. All the residents and staff were able to enjoy this
special treat. The living room was full
when Frank Murphy came to entertain
the residents at 4:00 p.m.
Last week, it was overlooked in the
news that Parkside honored the Transportation Department at social hour on
Wednesday. Today, we would like to
send out a special salute to Rhonda
Skrdla and Evelyn Paxton who do most
of the van driving to transport residents
back and forth to appointments and
wherever they need to be. These two
ladies are very important to Parkside
Manor.
All the staff and residents of Parkside would like to convey our very deepest sympathy to the family and friends
of Lloyd Stolcpart. He will be greatly
missed by everyone.

NVC West One Act Competition
Tuesday, November 13th found the Stuart Thespians on the road west to
Bassett to perform and compete in the NVC West one act competition. This
year's troupe is filled with many wild and zany characters performing a play
titled "American Idle: Murdering the Music."
First place honors went to St. Mary's, Lynch finished second, third was
West Boyd, and Chambers finished fourth. Stuart received a superior rating
and finished fifth in the competition. Sixth place was Keya Paha, Rock County
was seventh and the final ranking went to Wheeler Central.
Accolades were given for honorable mention acting to three actresses
from Stuart: seniors Caitlin Kunz and Shelby Paxton and sophomore Brittany
Hanzlik.
Monday, November 26th will find the Broncos on the road to Wynot for
district competition.

children from ages 2 to 14 years old all over the world. We sent 103
boxes, the boxes were wrapped with Christmas paper and stuffed with
items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, toys, combs, deodorant soap,
wash clothes, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, hats, socks, stuffed
animals, hard candy, etc. It cost $7 to send each box. We wish to
thank all the people who made this a huge success. This mission
would not be possible without your help. Operation Christmas Child
will bring joy to children in need this holiday season. The boxes serve
as reminders that there is a God who loves them and who sent his best
gift, Jesus Christ, to be their Savior. Thanks for making a child’s Christmas a little brighter! God Bless you All!

They were married on his first furlough, July 2, 1944. After returning to his

Over the years Lloyd has been active in many organizations including:
65 year member of the Newport American Legion, 35 year board member for
KBR Rural Public Power, 64 year member of the Silver Cord Masonic Lodge
and 39 year member of the Sesostris Shrine Club. He has been an active
member of the Lutheran church for over 52 years. Lloyd was also active in
the organizing of the Newport club calf stock show.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father and mother Frank and Monna
Stolcpart, son Rex Bradley, and four step-brothers. He leaves to mourn his
wife of 68 years, Bettye of Newport, NE, three sons and their families, Rick
(Sue Krenzein) of O’Neill, NE, Randy (Linda Peterson) of Burton, NE and
Rod (Lori Boerger) of Newport, NE, eight grandchildren, Corby (Shelley Thomas), Ryan, Marnee and (Tim Rosenberg)and Holli (Brandon Lovegrove),
Rex, Cara (Paul Kroeker), Bradley (Tara Kral) and Jenna; Eleven GreatGrandchildren, Madalyn, Ellyson and Mayah Stolcpart, Jackson and Benjamin Rosenberg, Lauryn Lovegrove, Jared and Mercedes Stolcpart, Cody,
Megan, and Allison Kroeker, and a sister-in-law Geraldine Mrs. Don DeGroff
and nieces Sheila, Sheryl, and Sharlene, and a host of friends and relatives.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 15 at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson with Masonic rites. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bassett, with internment
at the Woodlawn Cemetary in Atkinson with Military Honors.
Memorials may be directed to: St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bassett,
Sandhills Shrine Club, Stolcpart family trust scholarship, Rock County High
School Foundation or to the donors choice.

ATKINSON – This fall, Atkinson residents and fans of Atkinson, participated in the inaugural Big Give Atkinson 24hour giving event that benefitted 13 organizations and
nonprofits that serve Atkinson raising $17,270. This newly
formed annual initiative, launched by the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund, was a unique, high-visible promotion of personal giving designed to bring new donors
and dollars to local nonprofits and organizations. Donors
utilized all three options for giving: online, by mail and by
visiting the Giving Station. Donors that paid a visit to the
Giving Station were treated to free drinks compliments of
Balers Grill.
“We are extremely proud to bring this type of philanthropy
event to Atkinson, and we couldn’t be happier about the
response we received from 74 donors that were from Atkinson and other communities.” said Monique Johnson,
Chairperson for the Big Give Atkinson event and Vice
President of the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund.
The Atkinson Senior Center had the most donors (27),

VILLAGE OF STUART MINUTE RECORD
Meeting called to order October 30, 2012 at 8:02 pm by Chairman Larry
Paxton. Present were Trustees Larry Butler, Dana Steinhauser, John Madsen,
Del Stracke, Clerk Mark Stracke, Superintendent Bob Lockmon, Gas Foreman
Rick Shearer. Open meeting law poster location noted and posted.
Minutes of the previous meeting were presented to the Board. Motion by
Stracke, seconded by Butler to approve the Minutes. Roll Call: Ayes – Butler,
Madsen, Steinhauser, Stracke, Paxton. Nay – None. Motion Carried.
Deputy Sheriff Larry Wannamaker presented a report on the Sheriff’s department activities for the past couple of months. He outlined that there were 149
hours patrolled in August and 171 hours in September. He relayed the Sheriffs
have been active in the community pursuing dog issues such as barking dogs
and dogs running at large and that the department has issued some dog related citations. He also updated the board concerning ongoing investigations.
Eric Todd of US Energy met with the board to discuss how US Energy could
help the Village of Stuart with their natural gas operations and management.
He emphasized that they were an agent and not a supplier so they would work
to get the best possible price for the Village. After a video presentation, Todd
answered questions from the board. The board decided to considered US Energy’s offer after additional information is acquired.
Steve Alder of Community Wealth Specialists met with the board at Clerk
Stracke’s request to discuss the insurance policy the Village has with CWS
due to several changes in the policy coverage. Due to a recent on-site visit,
several of the buildings were increased significantly in value resulting in premium increases. After reviewing all the changes in coverage, the board asked
Stracke and Lockmon to verify the amounts were appropriate and suggest
changes at a future meeting. Alder indicated that Stuart should receive an insurance dividend and that their workman’s comp modification would be dropping due to older claims being removed.
Clerk Stracke presented building permit application #A2012-5. After review,
motion by Butler, seconded by Stracke to approve permit application #A2012-5
and issue a permit. Roll Call: Ayes – Butler, Madsen, Steinhauser, Stracke,
Paxton. Nay – None. Motion Carried.
Utility Superintendent Lockmon gave a report on his departments.
Natural Gas: Regulations will require certify personnel to answer the phone
concerning gas calls and that a number will need to be designated to handle
such calls for emergencies. As Stuart progresses in their natural gas expansion operations, procedures will be installed to insure the Village is in compliance.
Streets: Lockmon presented a tree trimming list. After review, motion by
Madsen, seconded by Steinhauser to approve the list. Roll Call: Ayes – Butler,
Madsen, Steinhauser, Stracke, Paxton. Nay – None. Motion Carried.
Clerk/Treasurer Stracke gave a report on Village operations.
General: A Veteran’s Day proclamation was presented to the board thanking
all Veteran’s for their service to Stuart and their country. Motion by Stracke,
seconded by Steinhauser to approve the proclamation. Roll Call: Ayes – Butler, Madsen, Steinhauser, Stracke, Paxton. Nay – None. Motion Carried.
Water: Rates were reviewed and upcoming projects discussed. No changes
were considered necessary at this time.
Sewer: Rates were reviewed and upcoming projects discussed. Due to low
funds in the sewer department caused by permit mandates and probable additional requirements, it was agreed on an approximate 3% increase would be
needed. This would affect residential rates by about .50 per month.
Sanitation: Rates were reviewed. Stracke relayed tipping costs at the transfer
station had increased. Lockmon talked about current sanitation truck maintenance and repairs. The board decided to increase the base rate .50 per month
to handle cost increases and save for a truck replacement.

Electric: The billing program the Village uses does not handle deposits
correctly without manual intervention.
After consulting with the software
designers, it was determined the interaction between the all electric customers and the additional discount
was causing the problem with deposits showing up twice. The board decided to continue the additional discount and have the software designer make the program changes.

Murphy Center. It was the consensus
to leave the rates as is.
Rehab: The clerk presented a revised rehab loan as approved by the
Village Rehab board. After the board

Jr. High Lady Broncos
Basketball
On Nov 13th, the Jr High Lady Broncos hosted the North Central Lady Knights.
The Lady Broncos struggled to adjust to the
full court pressure the Lady Knights displayed throughout the evening. It was the
first time this year we had faced a team that
played an aggressive trapping defense and
we missed some opportunities for quick ball
reversal to beat their press. Credit is due to
the Lady Knights as they were the more
physical team in this match-up. The Lady
Broncos also put themselves in foul trouble
by not executing on the defensive end. The
Lady Broncos were 1 for 9 from the foul line,
while North Central converted 10 of 23 free
throws.
The Lady Broncos lost the game 13 to
36. Scorers for the Stuart Broncos were:
Harlee Fischer - 6 points; Taylor Kubik - 1
point; Ariel Larsen - 2 points; Kennison Kunz
- 2 points; Trisha Fox - 2 points.
This game was an important learning
lesson for the girls on the need to execute
while on the floor. As we grow as a team, we
will continue to work on minimizing the mental mistakes which lead to turnovers, and
increase our free throw shooting percentage.
The girls have a lot of potential. If they continue to work hard, and execute as a team,
then the sky's the limit on what they can
achieve.
On Nov 17th, the Lady Broncos
hosted the Stuart Basketball Invite. There
were 4 teams that participated in the tournament: North Central, St. Mary’s, West Holt,
and Stuart. The Lady Broncos opened up
play in the opening game against St. Mary’s.
Stuart came out and played tough defense to
start the game. I was extremely proud of
how the girls came out and went toe for toe
with St. Mary’s to start the game. The girls
were in position to make baskets but could
not get the ball through the hoop. Holding an
uptempo team like St. Mary’s to 11 points in
a quarter is a great accomplishment. To St.
Mary’s credit they were able to keep up the
press throughout the game and converted
turnovers into layups and free throws.

The Lady Broncos lost a
hard fought game 56 to 9. The final
score did not reflect how hard the
girls played. I was extremely proud
of our girls for giving their best effort
for the full 24 minutes. We improved in several facets of the
game from our last performance,
and after playing an aggressive
team like St. Mary’s, it helps improve your level of play. Scorers for
the Lady Broncos were: Harlee
Fischer - 1 - point; Taylor Kubik - 1
point; Ariel Larsen - 2 points; Kennison Kunz - 5 points.
The lady Broncos showed
significant improvement in free
throw shooting, finishing 7 of 14 for
the day.

While 50% is not where we want to
be as a team, it is a step in the right direction. It was exciting to see the girls working as a team on the defensive end. There
were flashes of brilliant help-side defense
played during the game. Help-side man
defense is a difficult defense to master, but
our girls are starting to really get after it on
the defensive end, stopping dribble penetration. We will continue to work on improving upon rebounding, and offensive
execution.
Stuart next played West Holt for
the 3rd place game. Before the game I
challenged the team to come out and give
it their best effort. The Lady Broncos responded to the challenge opening up a 24
to 5 halftime lead. Our theme for the year
has been Hyenas, because hyenas are not
the biggest animal in the wilderness, but
they are tough and do not back down from
any challenge. Our girls played like hyenas in this game, diving after every loose
ball, consistently getting rebounds and
playing smothering defense. I was proud
of how our girls played together as a team,
and attacked the rim on offense. The
Lady Broncos did a good job concentrating
on finishing their layups. Because of our
execution throughout the game, we were
able to get all 15 girls on the floor. Getting
all of the girls in the game allows the girls
to continue to learn and develop their skills.
Credit is due to the Lady Huskies
as they fought hard the whole game. I told
our girls after the game that they elevated
their play, Because West Holt was much
improved from our first matchup on Nov
6th. I was proud of our girls for having the
tenacity to overcome the adversity we experienced in the first game, and give their
best effort to close the tournament. Scorers for the Lady Broncos were: Harlee
Fischer - 10 points; Taylor Kubik - 5 points;
Alison Stracke - 4 points; Kennison Kunz 2 points; Rachel Kaup - 4 points; Trisha
Fox - 10 points. The Lady Broncos will
next be in action in Ainsworth on Dec 3rd
at 6 PM. The Lady Broncos will play 2
games, and would appreciate your support.
