Message
from the Director,
NOW AT A NEW TIME: 10:30 a.m.!!
Keeping Kankakee County
Up-to-Date with Park District news
on WKAN 1320
Tune in Saturdays from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. to WKAN 1320 to
keep up with The District Dish and the Kankakee Valley Park
District. This half hour show is devoted to keeping guests
informed on all things KVPD. We are not professional radio
people, but we are determined to let you know about upcoming
events, and news on programs and trips. We may stumble along
the way but that is half the fun of this journey that we call life.
Join Sam Jordan and myself Loren Petrakis-Mueller in a relaxed
morning atmosphere that speaks of the fun adventures and all
the stuff that is out there, for you to do.
Who knows, you may even find out there is too much to do
in-and-around the Kankakee area.
Get Your Picture I.D.
at the New RecCenter. . .
Whether you need a Dog Park pass or a Splash Valley Pass you
now should go to the new RecCenter located at 150 N. Indiana

and they will get you set up. Once Splash Valley opens you
may also get your Splash passes there, just as they have
always done it. Once Splash Valley opens you may also get your
Season Passes printed at the water park. If you have your Season
Pass from last year, you can simply renew it at any office, no
need for us to print a new card.

Little Beggars Chefs
Our goal at Beggars Pizza
is to teach the whole pizza
baking process from the
oven to the table.
In addition to learning the
importance of sanitation and

wish to make their own special pizza creation. This is a great
way for them to learn fundamental cooking and communication
skills. At Beggars Pizza our ‘Little Beggars Chefs’ will learn a

Swim Lessons
The Kankakee Valley Park District’s swim lesson program is for
swimmers of all ages and abilities. On the second day of lessons
parents will receive a parent letter, which gives information on
each specific level. For those who have been in a previous swim
lesson program, please sign your child up for lessons according to
a previous swim lesson report card. Before registering for a swim
lesson, review your child’s previous lesson history and age limitations of class. Classes fill quickly and transferring from one level to
another is not always possible. If you have questions, please ask at
the Registration Desk. Registration will close 3 business days prior
to the start of the class. Please note the time and dates of your
lesson. No refunds or make-ups will be given for classes missed
or forgotten. The park district reserves the right to combine class
levels if deemed appropriate.
Parent/Tot-Shrimp
Swim instructors will facilitate the lesson while parents act as the
main instructor for the class. This class helps to develop comfort
in the water, water adjustment, entering and exiting the water,
