GETTING TO KNOW THE EXPERTCARE
OFFICE STAFF
We thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves and tell you a
little bit about each of our office staff. Each month we will feature
a new interview with someone from our office. We hope you enjoy
this new section!
Meet Katie Carlisle
Sensory Friendly Films – AMC
Theatres
Saturday, December 12, 2014
PADDINGTON
AMC Theatres throughout Metro
Detroit, Michigan (and the country)
hold sensory friendly film showings
for individuals and families affected
by autism and other disabilities as
part of their Sensory Friendly Films
program.
ECare: Tell our Caregivers a little bit about you.
Katie: I moved to Michigan with my husband last year after living
in Indianapolis, Indiana for 10 years. I love to read, cook and watch
really bad television. I have 1 cat who enjoys playing in the toilet
when we forget to put the lid down.
ECare: What is on your bucket list?
Katie: To go to Europe and pet a penguin.
ECare: What is your position at ExpertCare?
Katie: I am a staffing consultant.
ECare: What are your job responsibilities?
Katie: I recruit, hire and place staff
with consumers and then monitor
the case.
ECare: How long have you been
working at ExpertCare?
Katie: 10 months
ECare: Why do you like working for ExpertCare?
Katie: I love knowing that we help consumers in becoming as
independent as possible.
ECare: What is the most challenging part of your position?
Katie: Knowing that there are people who need services that we
can’t help because there aren’t staff available in their area.
ECare: What’s a good piece of advice for Caregivers?
Katie: Make sure to call and mark yourself available once a week if
you are still looking for hours. We have a lot of consumers who are
still looking for staff.
Families affected by autism and
other disabilities can enjoy movies
in a safe and accepting environment during the monthly Sensory
Friendly Films program. Sensory
film showings feature lowered
sound and dim lighting. Patrons
can bring their own gluten-free or
casein-free snacks and the kids can
“dance, walk, shout or sing” or
move about the aisles. No previews
or advertisements will be shown
before the movies. The movies are
geared toward children ages 5 & up
and showings begin at 10am. All
shows are at 10:00 am local time.
Dates and films are subject to
change so it’s best to contact the
participating theatres directly before each sensory friendly film
showing.

LOOK WHO’S TALKING!
ECare: Tell us a little bit about you.
Sabrina: I am a very dedicated and responsible person. My mother
raised 3 children on her own so I was forced to be somewhat of a
mother figure. I love taking care of people.
ECare: Tell us about your family.
NOVEMBER CAREGIVER
OF THE MONTH
SABRINA GASTON
Ecare: What are your hobbies?
Sabrina has been an outstanding
caregiver ever since starting with ExpertCare.
Sabrina: I just love hanging out and relaxing with my family and
watching movies.
Sabrina is always willing to help and
go the extra mile when needed.
ECare: Who inspires you?
Sabrina has made a lasting impression on the families she has come
into contact with. Her consumers
have made it a point to mention to us
what a truly amazing caregiver she is
and how influential she has become
in their lives. She is extremely compassionate and always willing to help
out on short notice. ExpertCare appreciates all of Sabrina’s hard work
and dedication.
Sabrina: I have a brother and a sister all a year a part.
Sabrina: My mother, she is my hero. She can do anything she sets her
mind to, and she has taught me to do the same and not to depend on
anyone.
ECare: What is on your bucket list?
Sabrina: I really want to go sky diving.
ECare: What makes you a successful Caregiver?
Sabrina: My personality and caring about others.
ECare: Tell us your best piece of advice for other Caregivers.
Sabrina: Try to build the best relationship that you can with your
consumer. Know that it may get tough but we are there to help them
and make things better in their life. Remember to always care about
your consumers.
Great job on your continued success!
ECare: Tell us your best care giving story.
Sabrina: I previously worked with a
girl who was just so interesting and
had such a great personality,
She would amaze me with the
things she knew how to do. She
was just so smart!
