Dear Avon Parents and Guardians,
Friday, October 30th at 1:00pm is the Annual Avon Halloween Parade and Parties. Please refer
to the information on the next page for details.
• If you would like to volunteer in your child’s classroom please sign up with the
classroom teacher. To keep the parties focused on the students, only parents who have
signed up for the party will be allowed to the classrooms.
Cold and Flu season is upon us. In order to keep students and staff healthy please keep a sick
child at home. Children can return to school after they are 24 hours symptom free. (CCSD 46
Parent Handbook p. 27)
As we enter Fall and Winter and the weather cools off, please make sure that students are sent to
school with the appropriate jackets, hats, and gloves. We do not have any extra clothes. Please
see the CCSD 46 Parent Handbook p.37 for details on Recess during the Winter.
I wanted to remind parents that when car riders are being dropped off in the morning that if you arrive
after 8:00am you must park and walk your child into the building and sign them in.

Estimados Padres y Tutotes de Avon,
El viernes, 30 de octubre a las 1:00pm será el Desfile Anual de Halloween y los festejos. Por
favor consulte la información en la siguiente página para más detalles.
• Si le gustaría ser voluntario en el salón de clase de su hijo/a, favor, de registrarse con el
profesor del aula. Para mantener la atención enfocada en los alumnos durante la fiesta,
solamente a los padres que serán voluntarios en el aula se les permitirá la entrada al
salón.
La temporada del frío y la gripa esta aquí. A fin de mantener a los estudiantes y al personal
saludables favor de mantener a su hijo/a en casa si esta enfermo/a. Los niños pueden regresar a la
escuela después de 24 horas que estén libres de síntomas. (CCSD 46 Parent Handbook p. 27)
Estamos entramos en el otoño y el invierno y el clima esta frío, por favor asegúrese de que los estudiantes
sean enviados a la escuela con la ropa apropiada, como chamarra, gorras y guantes. No tenemos ninguna
ropa extra. Consulte el manual de padres CCSD 46 p.37 para más detalles sobre el recreo durante el
invierno.
Quiero recordar a los padres que cuando traen a sus hijos a la escuela en la mañana y si llega después de
las 8:00am debe estacionar su carro y llevar a su hijo dentro del edificio y firmarlos.

Desfile y Fiestas de Disfraces de Halloween

Los disfraces deben de ser apropiados para la escuela
No se permitirán armas ó máscaras
Por favor, tenga en mente que algunos estudiante/familias se pueden ofender con
disfraces de brujas, fantasmas, vampiros, demonios, hombres lobos y duendes.
Desfile'y'Festejo'
• Los niños pueden venir a la escuela ese día con lo básico de sus disfraces
(pantalones/camisetas). Las demás piezas del disfraz se las podrán poner antes de que
empiece el desfile.
• Por la tarde se llevará acabo un desfile que tendrá lugar de 1:00 PM a 1:20 PM.
Dependiendo del clima, el desfile se llevara acabo afuera. Los padres son
bienvenidos a asistir al desfile y verlo desde la parte de afuera.
• Todos los visitantes TIENEN que pasar a la oficina a firmar su llegada antes de
entrar al edificio.
• La maestra del salón de su hijo le notificará con tiempo si Usted va a venir como
voluntario para la fiesta de Halloween. Nos gustaría darles la oportunidad a todos los
padres de que participen por lo menos en una de las fiestas del salón este año escolar.
• Tendremos una lista de voluntarios por salón para que confirmen su llegada/salida. Por
favor en ese momento indique si su niño será car rider a la hora de la salida. Todos los car
riders se podrán ir a las 2:10 PM para evitar retrasar a los camiones.

From the Avon Office
Tardy -If your child is tardy, please escort them into the office and sign them in.
Forgotten lunches/lunch money-Please make an effort to send in your child’s lunch or lunch money each
day. The office prefers not to disrupt classrooms to notify them that a child’s lunch has arrived.
Absences/Tardies-Please call in absences and tardies to the District Absentee Line at (847) 223-3540
and follow the voice prompts for attendance to Avon school. This line is open 24 hours a day. This will help
decrease the busyness of our office each morning.
Illnesses-To preserve everyone’s health; please keep your children home when sick and/or when they have
a fever of 100 degrees or more. Before returning to school, they must be fever-free, vomit-free, and
diarrhea-free for 24 hours. Also, children cannot carry their own medications-these must be turned into the
office.
Easy Ways You Can Help Raise Funds for Avon!
Target REDcards
(Avon recently received a check from Target for over $500 through the following program!)
How? Use your Target REDcard when you are doing your normal shopping at Target, and designate
Avon through their Take Charge of Education program-this provides Avon with much needed funds.
If you already have a Target REDcard, you can participate in the Take Charge of Education program and help
our school! Target donates up to 1% of purchases made using the REDcard to eligible K-12 schools
designated by Target consumers. Avon has received over $6,030.34 over the past few years through this
giving program. If you are interested in designating Avon on your REDcard, go to Target.com/tcoe and click
on the “enroll now” link, then enter our School ID (46818); this will lead you to Avon’s information page.
Click on “designate school” where you will then be asked for your information and REDcard number. Please
note that Avon is listed as Avon Center Elementary and our School ID is 46818.
If you don’t yet have a REDcard, you can go to Target and apply for one directly, or you can apply online at
Target.com. If you apply in store, you can take our school ID (46818) and they can add that to your
application the same day. Or, once you have your REDcard number, you can designate our school online at
Target.com/tcoe.

Abbott Labs’ Employee Giving Campaign
Do you or someone in your extended family work at Abbott Laboratories or Abbvie? The Avon Office
would like to tell you of a way you can help support Avon. Each year in the fall at Abbott & Abbvie, there is
an Employee Giving Campaign, where Abbott & Abbvie will donate matching funds to donations made by its
employees. You can designate Avon School as your recipient
organization, and help raise needed funds for our school!
