The Harmony of TACT Corporate Brochure The Harmony of TACT We are a symphony of joy and pride, Always certain that our children will learn and grow 1 Corporate Vision To nurture children, the next generation of leaders, to become splendid adults who will be kind to others and create a wonderful society. Business Philosophy To train our personnel so that they are able to build confidence, conquer new challenges, and be successful. 2 “Making your own way in life” This is the management philosophy of TACT, a total education group We want to teach children the joy and pride of being able to create their own path in life by making use of their strengths. 3 The Harmony of TACT Nurturing potential with our unique system Japan’s era of growth has passed, and the country is now in a mature state. Intellectual technology and globalization means social change and fierce competition. In this chaotic age, we at TACT consider it our job to nurture young people so they will be able to make their own decisions and create their own path in life using their own unique strengths. The key to achieving this is for people to believe themselves and then act based on that belief. The next step is to find a place in society where they can shine. An unstable age, such as the one Japan is facing, requires people who can think for themselves and use their inner resources to move forward. At TACT, we have developed a system to promote such qualities in the next generation, and this is the educational service we offer. Education tailored to the individual The TACT system requires that we study each student, carefully assess them, and then decide on a Unique Learning strengths plan of learning with goals designed for the the joy of Study and individual. Our system instills in our students the confidence, lifestyle habits motivation, and habit of learning on their own, which leads to a achievement steady improvement in grades, confidence, and motivation. Our approach is to look for obstacles that keep a student from moving ahead and begin teaching at the point where the obstacles appear for each student. The curriculum does not move on until the problems are solved and material learned. With this system, not only do our students get better grades, but also, by cultivating the habit of studying and learning by themselves, they can experience the joy and pride of achieving goals through their own efforts—something that cannot be attained merely by “being taught.” The final result of this process is a confident, independent person who is able to think and act on his or her own. Great contributions to society in this age of “lifelong learning” In an age of fierce competition, people must continue to learn even after they end school and join the workforce. This is where TACT feels it can contribute to Japanese society. We undertake new forms of business in order to reach more diverse segments of society and also to offer other cultures the joy of learning to live under one’s own power. Masao Matsuda President, TACT 4 IE Square Introduction We’ll find out what it takes to motivate you. Specifying and setting goals Setting deadlines to reach goals Drawing up a schedule New dreams, goals Dreams, goals Society Dreams, goals Tasks for meeting goals Student Time schedule for meeting goals Fulfillment 5 School Sense of achievement and growth Confidence, that you can do anything if you try The Harmony of TACT Thorough Individual Guidance with Customized Tutoring by Designated Teachers Individual guidance: School IE Educational Philosophy How can we be certain that students will improve academically? The answer is TACT’s educational philosophy: Educate the individual. We have to deal with each student individually if we want to effectively motivate, build confidence, and improve learning power. To do this, TACT has developed original systems. The first is the Environment Test System (ETS). A child is asked to answer 200 questions. Responses are computer-processed to analyze “motivation,” “study habits” and “lifestyle routine.” The findings are then used to choose a teacher and determine the optimum learning method for the child. The second system is the Personal Curriculum System (PCS). Students are tested on material from the last two school years. The results are analyzed to discover what the child understands and what he or she has trouble with. A unit schematic diagram based on textbook material is prepared to create a tailored curriculum. Results of the above two tests are used as reference to coach and help the child set goals and choose study methods. Finally, the child’s family is given guidance concerning at-home study assistance required to meet learning goals. TACT, in cooperation with parents, supports students in achieving their objectives. Guidance to help students meet goals and win acceptance to their first-choice schools Order-made textbooks—one of a kind “Yume SEED” “Yume SEED” is not a revolutionary teaching material or method. It is a revolutionary educational system, tailored to the individual child and aimed at meeting individualized goals. The study method best suited Diagnostic test ETS Character + PCS Scholastic abilities Goal achievement meetings Length of time + Order-made textbooks Level achieved At Yume SEED system, curriculum is designed to meet the personal education goals of each child, making sure the workload is realistic and efficient. Following ETS, PCS and the goal achievement meeting, the child’s study policy will be set and order-made textbooks prepared. By choosing the study method best suited to your child and providing materials needed, study time will be effective and your child will be able to achieve his or her goals. 6 Nurturing a child’s future—parent and child together 7 The Harmony of TACT Preschool Education to Nurture Heart and Mind Nurturing heart and mind Preschool Education Child Eyes ■ Child Eyes stimulates the curiosity of children and makes them eager to learn What is are the keys to the differences in learning ability? Why can’t children improve even if they try? We have run tutoring schools for elementary, middle, and high school students for the past 30 years and have taught more than 50,000 students. We have discovered the unfortunate reality that some children learn quickly and others fail to learn no matter how hard they try. However, we also found that the key to successful learning is for a student to discover that “thinking is fun” before they even begin school. When we looked into the background of children, we learned that the difference in learning abilities was based on whether or not they had experienced thinking as being fun in their preschool years. Research shows that enjoyable experiences with thinking will lead to a love of learning, because both thinking and learning are on the same spectrum. When you look at it is this way, it is not surprising that a child who enjoys thinking will also quickly take to learning. We have created the Child Eyes program, a learning system that emphasizes the joy of thinking. Child Eyes features Improving intelligence by training “intelligence range” No.1 (e.g. figures, symbols, concepts), and “intellectual activities” (e.g. memorizing, thinking) Our system is based on US-psychologist J.P. Guilford’s theory of factors of intelligence and uses the Hida Intelligence Theory developed by Masajiro Hida as its axis. The system effectively stimulates and expands intellectual traits. No.2 Over 100 types of original educational materials The Child Eyes educational materials were developed according to the Hida Intelligence Theory. They do not require a child to stop and think, but nurture the ability to learn and memorize. Our teachers have been trained in our methods With our wealth of knowledge and experience, we confidently take responsibility for our teaching. Child Eyes, taught in small classes, accepts each child just as they are, and uses things of interest to them to lead them smoothly into learning activities. In-class environment for children Interpersonal environment Instructor trained in character theory and intelligence factor theory Material environment Toys (educational materials) that bring out the ability to imitate and probe Classes where there is no comparing, no rejection—only acceptance 8 9 An English conversation school conceived by a prep school The Harmony of TACT English Conversation WinBe ■ WinBe improves both communication and English skills. Communication power that acknowledges differences and fosters acceptance. Even today, when Japanese come into contact with foreigners, they are unable to use English communicate. The English conversation school WinBe was established in order to improve this situation through private instruction to help children understand each other’s differences and improve their ability to communicate effectively. The 3 key concepts of WinBe 1. Roots in the community Rooted in the community, WinBe gives children a chance to come into contact with “living English” and experience the fun of speaking it. This is a grassroots project to contribute to globalization in Japan. 2. The joy of using English to communicate opinions You need more to communicate your opinion in English than just pronunciation and listening abilities. It is also vital to understand the sensibilities and thought processes of a native English speaker. This is why classes at WinBe are taught by native English speakers; Children learn the fun of exchanging opinions in English and polishing their communication skills with native speakers. 3. Reaping the fruit of improved communication At WinBe, we put energy into preparing students for the challenge of standardized English tests(e.g. Eiken TOEIC), achievements recognized both at school and by society. To this end, a Japanese counselor prepares a plan suited to the goals and needs of each child, and gives advice about studying at home. Each lesson includes a section to make sure the child has completely learned the material. A good curriculum that ensures progress An English conversation text that is fun and easy to understand. Review of all studied materials. The 3 features of All of the teachers are native English speakers All teachers receive 48 hours of training before they start teaching. They also have regular training sessions once a year. Teachers are carefully chosen from among 15,000 candidates who apply each year. Step-by-step lessons with Japanese teachers For 1st thru 6th graders Step-by-step lessons with Japanese teachers result in the most effective English instruction. 10 Playing in English Learning in 11 Eng lish The Harmony of TACT Children attend a day care and after-school program conducted in English Playing in English, learning in English ■ Playing in English, learning in English— Kids Duo Curiosity and interests of children are stimulated using English. This is a new type of day care and after-school program. Our approach is not simply about studying English. Rather, we follow our philosophy of “Play in English, Learn in English.” Learning a new language is always a challenge, so we create an environment in which children can learn in a natural and enjoyable way, rather than reading out of a textbook. In order to accomplish this effectively, we offer various types of afterschool and day care programs (such as Arts and Crafts and Music and Dance; see the list below) using only English. We firmly believe this is the best teaching method for children as it mixes learning with having fun in a relaxed environment The Kids Duo philosophy Individuality Individual We guide our students to be able to think, decide, and act on their own so they will become people who can act independently. Internationalism We provide our students with the resources to learn about the world through fun, discovery, and English. Internationalism Discipline Discipline and Teamwork We strive to help our students learn about compassion, cooperation, and communication. The 3 Key Concepts of Kids Duo 1. After-school and day care programs Parents feel uneasy about after-school programs that are no more than ways to keep children occupied until they get off work. Kids Duo makes good use of after-school hours by providing a safe, fun, and educational environment. The day care program is conducted entirely in English, so children as young as 1 can learn the language naturally. Diverse Kids Duo program Book Outdoor Party Music and Dance 2. English ability Children make their own decisions, choosing programs that interest them. Playing and learning in English. Four after-school hours are spent in a 100% English environment and instruction so that students can learn naturally through immersion. Learning in an environment where English is used naturally will amount to an enormous advantage when children grow up. Puzzle Blocks 3. Peace of mind With both Japanese and native-English-speaking staff on hand, there is nothing to fear even for English beginners. The Kids Duo bus picks children up at school and drops them off at home after Kids Duo. Parents and staff stay in touch through the exchange of notes, activity reports and regular meetings. Arts and Crafts Games Hands-on Math 12 The TACT name The TACT name The name TACT comes from the Chinese character for “pioneer.” The company was founded on the concept of bringing together people who have pioneer mindset, eager to achieve dreams and ideals, and do what they wanted with their lives. Personalities and abilities vary, which is why we see TACT as an orchestra. Each instrument has its own unique tone and individuality. When a conductor (TACT) waves his baton, each member of the orchestra plays their unique instrument while also listening closely to the others, coming together to make beautiful music. TACT is a company that appreciates each individual employee, and emphasizes mutual cooperation as a way to make the most of everyone’s talents with further development of the company in mind. 13 The Harmony of TACT co Re rin g e d nsi edu t tarting poin s s t i m n fro catio YARUKI Switch Group Holdings Co.,Ltd.
