Olympians Bestoweth An Artist at LMS A Stacked Book Drive Pg.2 By Natalia Hernandez and Kyra Milloy G e o r g e O'Conner came to Lincoln Middle School to visit the 6th grade r s March 7, 2 0 1 4 . George O'Conner makes a graphic novel series about ancient Greek her o e s . A few of his graphic novels are Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hera, and Athena. He is also an artist. One of O'Conner's favorite drawings is when it looks like he has a really big headache. H e started to draw h i s h e a d that is exploding and ancient Greek g o d s a n d g o d desses are coming out. To start off with ideas, he draws dummy pages with storylines for his publishers to review. Once they approve, he adds details, color and dialogue. O'Conner's favorite Greek god is Hermes. Hera is O'Conner's favorite goddess. The students were also treated to drawings of Greek gods and goddesses done on a large chart paper easel. From Writtenbydeb By LMS News Staff Another year, another book drive. Another successful pile of gently used books for the community. Student council collected boxes of books for the Community Book Bank. An idea inspired by Mrs. O’Brien, students generously gave away books from Diary of a Wimpy Kid to children’s books. Mr. T’s class lead the charge (again) collecting over 500 books. One student, Ryan Potter, donated 217 books on his own delivered on a hand truck. Twitter is mainly an open network which means a user's tweets are open for anyone to see, unless specifically protected. This helps people connect and bring people closer to their interests. Twitter is made up of 140charcter messages called Tweets. These short messages can range from celebrity gossip, sports tidbits and local news. Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass. On Twitter, everyone uses hashtags. Hashtags have been around for more than 5 years. For example, if a person typed in "#LMS" any tweet with the word "LMS" in it would show up. They are pulled together into streams so that people, businesses, events and other organizations have the opportunity to search, share and communicate about a particular topic. By Jackson Hills My Script Calculator is not only helpful with school and hard problems but it's also fun. By Nehemiah Vargas, Israel and Isaiah Arce Asphalt 7 and 8 are apps that are entertaining racing games. This game has amazing graphics and has real cars like Porches, Dodge Chargers and BMWs. Also, it costs money, but if you have an ITunes gift card then you can use it on that. This is a game that if you play it you will get a d d i c t e d . If you don’t have either, I suggest How can anything related to school be fun? It's simple; when you open the app all you really do is swipe. For example, if you get a really hard problem like 364 times 364 go to your My Script Calculator and swipe in 364 times 364. "I have bad hand writing." Not to worry if you download My Script Calculator! It corrects all hand writings. Many would say that this app is just like writing on a piece of paper. This is a great way to look at it because it really is true. you download these games. Asphalt 8 is free for IPods and I Phones. Even though Asphalt 7 costs money, it's worth the money for any race fan. Peer to Teacher By Sarah Courchesne and Pria Gunter Edmodo is a powerful learning tool used by teachers and students.
