Sylvain Selection
Selection barrels use a fine grain selection from specific state-owned tall forests managed by the
ONF (Tronçais, Bercé, Fontainebleau, Haguenau, etc.) and privately owned forests, naturally
seasoned, to produce a well rounded, generous and balanced option. The barrel gives elegant,
lifted aromas yet, contains supple structuring tannins, bringing forward elegant fruit characters in
wines aged 10-18 months in barrel. It brings body, volume and a rich texture to the wine.
Sylvain Reserve
This top-end barrel is predominantly made from sessile oak from French state-owned tall forests
managed by the ONF. The extra fine-grained oak is carefully sorted and naturally seasoned in the
open air. Our know-how is acknowledged throughout the world; we were able to suit the Réserve
barrel to very diverse grape varieties thanks to the multiple origin of wood available on our wood
lot. The Réserve barrel cares richness, finesse, and aromatic elegance, which help to express the
full potential of great wines. It is Sylvain's flagship barrel.
Sylvain Grande Reserve
The Grande Reserve barrel has the same characteristics as the Reserve barrel, in terms of the selection
of wood and grain, but with a 1-extra-year-seasoning. It brings a very elegant and delicate wood
character, and suits perfectly for a long ageing.
Sylvain Blanc
After numerous tests carried on grape varieties from all around the world, Sylvain designed and
perfected a barrel that is dedicated to white wines. The Blanc barrel’s wood blend is respectful of
the fruit, it is treated with a special light toast, and will be a harmonious fit to various grape varieties.
It was designed to provide balance, elegance and finesse to the most exclusive white wines.

The Tonnellerie Sylvain is « PEFC » certified. This European
Programme of certified forests is a guarantee of the quality
and sustainable management of forests, in terms of biodiversity,
management and renewal of species. Our cooperage wood
purchases are only made from organizations that respect
these criteria.
100% French Oak.: The Bureau Veritas testifies that the origin of
the oak trees purchased by the Tonnellerie Sylvain is exclusively
French. This certificate of recognition enables us to relate to the
origin of the woods all the way from their purchase to the
production of the barrel and it’s delivery to the customer.
A sample is taken from each batch of wood, raw material, and packaging and analysed for HAHP (TCA, TECA, TBA, etc.).
