Holston Conference United Methodist Women 41st ANNUAL MEETING and DISTRICT OFFICER TRAINING September 13-14, 2014 The Holston Conference UMW Annual Meeting and Officer Training has something for everyone this year. New features include two focus sessions and a hands-on project as well as well as some very special music. Loretta Bowers, Nelta Buck, and Lora Melton will present an opening concert for your enjoyment from 12:30 to 1:15 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Stuart Auditorium. The first focus session will be led by Marva Usher-Kerr from the UMW National Office. It will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 AM on Saturday morning and is titled "Young United Methodist Women: Rise Up!" It is designed to ignite, encourage, and inspire young women to organizational leadership. The second focus session will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 PM on Saturday afternoon. It is titled "Identifying Your Ministry Strengths: God's children gifted for ministry. What are you gifted to do?" It will be led by Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor. During the time set aside for officer training, 3:00 to 4:30 PM Saturday, Willela Douthat will lead a session called UMW 101 for those not attending training sessions. It is meant to focus on general, basic information about UMW membership, purpose, and mission giving so those relatively new to UMW have a better understanding of what UMW is about. Kayce Castenir will be directing a hands-on mission activity at the back of Stuart Auditorium for those who like to participate in mission oriented crafting. The Program Committee has worked hard to bring to fruition the plans for this Annual Meeting. We hope that you will enjoy the 41st Annual Meeting and these new features. On behalf of the Program Committee, thank you for your support of Holston Conference UMW, its purpose, and its missions.
