Terry Fox School Run
October 5
September 30 was a perfect day for our annual Terry Fox School Run. Students and
staff participated in this event by running or walking, and raising funds for Cancer
research. Our goal this year is to raise over $15,000.00! It’s not too late to donate.
Thank you to the students, parents, and staff for your support! All donations for the
Terry Fox Foundation are due to the class teacher by October 5.

Spirit Week
Thank you to the TCMPS students, parents and staff for an amazing Spirit
Week! From September 28 to October 1, our students participated in a
week full of activities like Career Day, Dress Up Day, Toronto Sports Team
Day, Spirit Week Assemblies, and the Terry Fox Run. On Toonie for Terry
Tuesday, students donated $1500 in Toonies to the Terry Fox Foundation in
exchange for ballots to enter a special contest. Several lucky students’
names were drawn from the ballot box and these students had the thrilling
experience of squirting ketchup and mustard on Mr. Ash, Ms. Thadani, Ms.
Bowerbank and Mr. Lamanna, who were dressed up as HOTDOGS!
Grades 7 and 8 Student Activity Council (SAC)
Thank you to all the students who enthusiastically participated in this year’s election for the Student Activity Council.
During Spirit Week, the grades 7 and 8 students voted for their chosen candidates and now the election results are in.
Congratulations to the elected students who will begin to organize their first event of the year with Mrs. Bowerbank and
Ms. Clayton as advisors. Now, the SAC students are eagerly looking forward to the grades 7 to 9 Fall Dance which will
be hosted by our grade 9 students. The dance will be held in our Main Gymnasium on Friday October 30, from 7:00 to
9:00 p.m. Last year’s dance was a huge success and
the students had a great time dancing.
This year’s SAC members are:
Sanaa (President), Suraj (Vice-President),
Michelle (Treasurer), Ria (Secretary),
Anika, Ashley (Spirit Reps),
Wesley Kyle, Mili, Alexa, (grade 7 Reps).
Karmenjot, Shivani, Eeman-Ulla (grade 8 Class Reps).

Halloween Activities
Friday, October 30, is Halloween day at TCMPS. Grades 2 to 8 students are welcome to wear a
costume to school. For the safety of our students, toy weapons are not permitted in the school. It
is recommended that students bring a change of clothes in case they would like to take off their
costume during the day. Students who do not wish to wear a costume may wear casual clothes
for the day. Parents are reminded that all regularly scheduled After School Courses will still run
on Friday, October 30.
Class parties will commence at 12:00 p.m. Teachers will post a sign up sheet outside their classroom door and
parents are welcome to sign up for food items to be donated to the party. For allergy reasons an ingredient list must
accompany all food items which are being brought in for the class. Elementary classes will also participate in our
annual pumpkin carving contest. Parents are invited to view all the marvelous pumpkins which will be on display in our
front foyer beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, and will remain on display until Friday morning. Classes
will raffle off the pumpkins for students to take home!
Small Schools Athletic Federation (SSAF)
Through the Small Schools Athletic Federation (SSAF),
students have the opportunity to join TCMPS sports teams and
compete in friendly competition against other independent
schools for championship banners. This fall, the coaches have
been busy with tryouts, practices and games for the following
teams: Co-Ed Cross Country, Co-Ed Under 12 Indoor Soccer,
Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Volleyball, Co-Ed Flag Football, Co-Ed
Ultimate Frisbee, and Co-Ed Golf. Parents are welcome to
attend all home and away games and help cheer our teams to
victory! Go Tigers Go!

Extended Care Hours:
Parents are reminded that the school is open for extended care hours from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. The school will not
be open before 7:00 a.m. and there is a late fee for every minute after 6:30 p.m. All early morning SSAF sports
practices are scheduled to start at 7:15 a.m. For the safety of our students, especially as the weather becomes
colder and darker outside, please do not drop off students earlier as they cannot enter the school until the
front doors are unlocked at 7:00. a.m. If parents and students arrive before the school is open, the parents must
remain and wait with the student for the school to open. We thank you for your cooperation.

Town Centre Private High School News
In the high school our students have quickly become deeply involved not only in their
academic studies, but in a wide variety of sports, clubs and extra curricular activities.
Our annual “Welcome Back” House Activity Day took place on September 11 as the
Lions, Marauders, Warriors, Blues, Gryphons and Mustangs met at Highgate Park for a
series of fun and friendly athletic competitions. Congratulations to the Warriors for
winning the first event of the new school year!
An important fall tradition at Town Centre is the grade 9 Bark Lake trip. This year, our
grade 9 students left bright and early on the
morning of September 23 to travel to the
Haliburton Highlands for 3 days of outdoor
education and team building activities. The
weather was excellent this year and our grade
9’s were able to take part in the full range of
hiking, high ropes and archery activities that
have made the Bark Lake trip a memorable
experience for all our students.
Students also participated in fundraising events
and the Terry Fox School Run at Highgate Park
on September 30, as part of our annual drive to
support the Canadian Cancer Society.
