Each month for the next year our Club will be publishing in the weekly bulletin a motto encouraging our members
to be better people in all things we do. And each month is tagged with related theme:
Febuary
Responsibility
“To be trustworthy, dependable and accountable for one’s actions.”
Last Meeting:
23 February
Presidents’ Night
Guests: Isis Layane, Jill Smyth, Melissa Bode, Nemanja Varesanovic, Cheryl Field, Lisa
Manning, Michael Li.
Chairman President David Strauss welcomed everyone to the meeting. He introduced special guests Nemy and
Melissa and also indicated that Cheryl and Lisa would be along later to tell us about the Primary Patchworkers.

President David referred us to a proposal from Andrew Camp as outlined to members in a recent email to
members. The meeting agreed to not support the proposal at this time but David would convey the Clubs wishes
to Andrew for a successful event.
Mindfulness Training is available to members as outlined in the brochure below. The course coordinator
Sharee Johnson will address the Club on the subject soon. The course commences on the 17th March.
There are 5 deliberate mistakes (probably some others too!) Members must be able to pick at least one
to avoid a fine at the next meeting. Anyone who finds all 5 will get a prize!
Wellington Shire Mayor Caroline Crossley will address the Club next week.
D.G. Nominee in waiting Don Ripper (until 2nd March) has not heard of any challengers to date. He attended
the District Learership Meeting yesterday and advised that our Club is one of the few who have done a budget
for Foundation – a feather in the board and Secretary Laurie’s hat! A Foundation Seminar will be held in Sale
and Berwick. We need to have a representative there to be eligible for grants.
Our exchange student Isis outlined a fun week with a trip to Phillip Island which involved seeing koalas,
chocolate factory visit (extreme enthusiasm for this one), Churchill Island for lunch, plenty of beach time and
of course the Penguin Parade. Isis also discovered a new passion for surfing managing to stand on the board
with very little experience – great effort!
In fact, Isis is so keen to improve her surfing skills, she would like to borrow
a board to get some more practise. Can anyone help???

Laurie has tickets for this Thursday 26th Feb at $20 each which are selling fast. “Second

Adrian went to “White Kight” in Melbourne last weekend and entertained us with some slides and facts about
the event.
Adrian advised a feasibility study for Gippsfest was proceeding in conjunction with the Ag. Society and the
meeting supported the concept to proceed further with investigations. A tentative date for the June long
weekend in 2016 is being considered. It would be a showcase for the area with workshops, trade displays etc.
Adrian further advised that Thursday 2nd April has been set aside for a joint meeting with Maffra at Duart.
President David then reintroduced Nemanja Varesanovic, (Nemy), who spoke to us regarding his new career
with the RAAF.
Nemy was born in Serbia but grew up in Germany. After an initial visit to relatives in Moe, Nemy moved to Sale 7 years
ago. He has graduated now and has joined the RAAF with great support from “Mr Ripper” and “Straussy”. Nemy will
work at Amberley.
(Editor’s Note: Note the due deference to our illustrious newly nominated DG Elect!)
Nemy and Melissa with President David

Our next presidential nominee is due for selection. A sub-committee will be formed to do the job. Expressions
of interest to President David.

The Dinner Auction will happen. The format is likely to go back to our original concept. Dates and venue to
be advised.
President David introduced Cheryl Field and Lisa Manning from Primary Patchworkers.
They told us about their upcoming exhabition on 18/19 April 2015 in the Lorna Sparrow Hall. They thanked Rotary
for helping them get a Shire Grant to run the exhibition explaining that proceeds go towards a variety of local charities.
They suggested they may need our help in getting their own display frames for future exhibitions and President David
indicated our willingness to consider ways of helping out. They displayed a magnificent quilt which will be raffled at
the exhibition.
Cheryl and Lisa stand proudly in front of their beautiful quilt whilst Daniel and Mike do their best teapot impersonations.

Mindfulness @ Work
CORPORATE BASED MINDFULNESS TRAINING
(CBMT)
Evening course Starts 17 March 2015
Would you like to have more hours in a day? Or at
least make better use of the precious time you have
each and every day? Are you looking for
opportunities to be more effective, calm, clear, and
focused at work and at home? Are you interested in
learning techniques to be more responsive and
less reactive in everyday living?
Mindfulness is a scientifically validated and practical
way to handle any kind of work environment with more
presence, patience, insight and effectiveness. It is the
equivalent of going to the gym for the mind – if you want
to be high performing you need to train the mental
muscle.
In this enjoyable and interactive course we will explain, demonstrate and practice, scientifically
validated solutions to every day work and life challenges. We will also give you the tools to start a
simple yet powerful daily training routine that can help you be more kind, creative, productive, happier
and healthier.
