Hymns of Praise
11:00 a.m.
Acceptable to Thee
Revive Us Again
Let the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be acceptable, in Thy sight
Let the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be acceptable, Lord to Thee.
Verse 1
Here I am Lord, at Your feet, Lord,
My soul looks up to Thee,
Make my thoughts, Lord,
And my tongue, Lord
Acceptable to Thee.
We praise Thee, O God,
For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died and
Is now gone above.
Hallelujah, Thine the glory! Hallelujah,
Amen!
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Revive us again.
Refrain
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.
Verse 2
We praise Thee, O God,
For Thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Savior and
Scattered our night.
Hallelujah, Thine the glory! Hallelujah,
Amen!
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Revive us again.

Guest Preacher Bio
Rev. Dr. F. Bruce Williams
is the son of
Rev. Earl B. and Norrene T. Williams. Early in life, God
ordained Dr. Williams' footsteps. Earning numerous
honors, he graduated summa cum laude from Florida
A&M University and received a Masters of Divinity from
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctorate
in Ministry from the United Theological Seminary.
In 1986, Dr. Williams was installed as Senior Pastor of
Bates Memorial Baptist Church located in Smoketown,
one of the poorest zip codes in Jefferson County,
Louisville, Kentucky. The congregation has grown exponentially, seeing its membership
increase from a hundred members to over five thousand members. In addition, the
ministries of the church currently provide 58 diverse areas for people to serve and also
provide, through the Bates Community Development Corporation, a number of creative
ministry opportunities.
Often dubbed, “the preacher’s preacher,” Dr. Williams is frequently asked to serve as
an instructor and guest speaker for various community wide events, lectures, seminars,
workshops, and revivals throughout the country. He is committed to changing the lives of
the marginalized people that society has forgotten. The homeless, the drug addicts, the
single mothers, the hurting and the suffering all have a purpose and a place in the Kingdom.
Through his message of transformation and restoration, Dr. Williams encourages people
to believe God, to believe in themselves, and to believe that there is something greater for
their lives. He desires that all people seek after and discover their God-ordained purpose
by introducing them to the power of the Savior.
Dr. Williams is married to the former Leona Michelle Smith of Greensboro, Florida, and
they are the proud parents of two daughters, Imani and Nailah Cymone.

The Temple Praise Choir was founded in the late 1970s as the
primary adult choral ensemble of The Temple Church, under the
pastoral leadership of the church’s founding pastor, Dr. Michael
Lee Graves. Bishop Graves emphasized a “balanced” approach
to worship and the importance of incorporating all genre of
music in each worship experience. Nearly 40 years later, the
Temple Praise Choir still serves as the primary adult choir of the
church and sings for most worship services. It also continues
to follow the mandate for “balanced” worship by infusing
anthems, hymns, and spirituals, with traditional and contemporary gospel as they seek to reach
the many different types of people who may attend worship each week.
Over the years, the Temple Praise Choir has traveled all over the country singing with
many different ministries and has been called to the share the stage or record with numerous
recording artists, from CeCe Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Darryl Coley, to Stevie Wonder,
Patti LaBelle, and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra . The Temple Praise Choir has also appeared
on Bobby Jones Gospel.
The Temple Praise Choir has released several recordings, and in June of 2014 embarked
upon its latest live recording, Temple Live III to be released in the fall.

Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem
lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come,
let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be
in disgrace.” . . . They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they
began this good work.
nehemiah 2:17-18 niV
Family,
When Trinity UCC embarked on our journey to Raise the Roof in August of 2013, we were stepping
out on faith. God had provided a vision to Pastor Moss to reach beyond basic infrastructure updates
for our church, and to instead stand with His teachings to be good stewards of His Creation, and
to install a Green roof and other energy efficient updates.
We have now raised pledges from our church family of over $4.8 million . . . a stone’s throw away
from our goal of $5 million!
The good news is that we will soon shift our focus from encouraging pledges, to completing our
pledges. The even better news is that we will also soon begin to actually “Raise the Roof” as
projects that are now in their planning stage move into an implementation stage.
Currently, we are less than $200,000 away from our goal. This could easily be achieved if 700
members/families:
• Pledged $10 a month for 4 years, or $120 a year, we would exceed our goal by $136,000!
• Pledged $5 a week, for 3 years, or $160 a year, we would exceed our goal by $346,000!
If you have yet to pledge, it would be wonderful if you have it in your heart to do so in the next
week or so. If you have already made your pledge, it will be critical of the coming months, and
even years, for you to meet your commitments.
Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your commitment to our Lord and Savior and His church,
and thank you for considering a pledge to Trinity UCC’s Raise the Roof Campaign.
God bless you and yours,
Rev. Mark A. Smith
Executive Minister of Stewardship

Prof. Jon Rieder, author of
Gospel of Freedom:
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Letter from Birmingham Jail
and the Struggle That Changed a Nation
"I am in Birmingham because injustice is here," declared Martin Luther King, Jr. He had come to that city of racist
terror convinced that massive protest could topple Jim Crow. But the insurgency faltered. To revive it, King made a
sacrificial act on Good Friday, April 12, 1963: he was arrested. Alone in his cell, reading a newspaper, he found a
statement from eight "moderate" clergymen who branded the protests extremist and "untimely."
King drafted a furious rebuttal that emerged as the "Letter from Birmingham Jail" – wa work that would take its
place among the masterpieces of American moral argument alongside those of Thoreau and Lincoln. His insistence
on the urgency of "Freedom Now" would inspire not just the marchers of Birmingham and Selma, but peaceful
insurgents from Tiananmen to Tahrir Squares.
Scholar Jonathan Rieder delves deeper than anyone before into the Letter-illuminating both its timeless message
and its crucial position in the history of civil rights. Rieder has interviewed King's surviving colleagues, and located
rare audiotapes of King speaking in the mass meetings of 1963. Gospel of Freedom gives us a startling perspective
on the Letter and the man who wrote it: an angry prophet who chastised American whites, found solace in the faith
and resilience of the slaves, and knew that moral appeal without struggle never brings justice.

“Loving God, Living Green, Liberating All”
July • Job 38:4-7 (NIV)
LoVinG GoD
January • Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength.
February • Psalm 119:105-106 (NIV)
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my
path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that
I will follow your righteous laws.
March • John 15:10 (NIV)
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my
love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands
and remain in his love.
April • Romans 14:19 (NIV)
Let us therefore make every effort to do
what leads to peace and to mutual
edification.
LiVinG GReen
May • Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the
world, and all who live in it.
June • Genesis 1:29-30 (NIV)
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing
plant on the face of the whole earth and every
tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be
yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth
and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures
that move along the ground—everything that
has the breath of life in it—I give every green
plant for food.” And it was so.
20
Where were you when I laid the earth’s
foundations? Tell me if you understand. Who
marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who
stretched a measuring line across it? On what
were its footings set or who laid its cornerstone
while the morning stars sang together for joy!
August • Deuteronomy 24:19 (niV)
When you are harvesting in your field and you
overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave
it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow,
so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the
work of your hands.
LiBeRATinG ALL
September • Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Stand
firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened
again by a yoke of slavery.
October • Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be
free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the
flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in Love.
November • Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor
free, nor is there male and female, for you are all
one in Christ Jesus.
December • Luke 4:18-19 (NIV)
The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he
anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he
has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the
oppressed free, to proclaim the favorable year of
the Lord.
