Mojiana is defined by its innovative

philosophy. Each piece is intricate and
unique in its thoughtful construction
and fabrication. The inspiration behind
Mojiana’s collections is drawn from the
fundamentals of all geometric design;
circle and line. For the Galaxy and 2D23D
collections, Mojiana creates complex
modular structures by incorporating
simple geometric elements, repeated and
interlinked to create interest, unity and
movement. With the emphasis on form,
line and rhythm, both collections are bold
yet balanced with a sense of mystery,
wonder and drama.

Eleventen is addressed to strong,
young women. Modern but minimalist
products give freedom to show the
wearer’s own style despite of current
trends. Their statement unisex t-shirts

loudly. Pure London AW 2015 will
see the collection of Denials. Inspired
by Amish life and modern culture,

“My signature style I would define as
elimination of excess, simple, major
influence of Asia, a mixture of really
classic, traditional, historical design,
blending with real fashion.” - Felix
Bendish launched his own brand in
2001 and designs in his own studio in
Juhu, Mumbai. He has a passion for
design, in particular for bridal gowns and
indo-western fusion wear. Every piece is
made with quality craftsmanship, and is
finished with couture embroidery.
WHATEVER
The brand draws inspiration from sport,
modern living and attitude, emphasising
wearability and originality. Designer Lun
creates simple, casual pieces that are
indulgent yet rebellious, in addition to
collections featuring a relaxed aesthetic

luxury, handmade leather handbags and
matching accessories to stylish women.
Jules Greaves established Susie in
the Sky in November 2013 as a British
label. She says: “(…) the brand had to
be called Susie in the Sky; that little
star was my late Mom Sue, who gave
me inspiration to follow my dream of
creating my own brand of luxury leather
goods. (…) The new collection is very
sleek and stands out. My inspiration has
come from “opposites attract in colour.”
I hope the Pure London visitors will like

Designs will be showcasing the

new for SS15 luggage collection. This
is an exciting time for nooki design; the

Alice’s Pig is a fashion brand from

What does it take to create a brand
that resonates with beauty and
sensuality in the hearts and minds
of women all around the world? In
the case of Dyrberg/Kern, it took two
individuals from two extremely different
backgrounds; each with a distinctive
angle on design who were drawn to
each other as if by destiny. As the
Creative Directors, design masterminds
and driving forces behind, Danish brand
Dyrberg/Kern A/S is today – after 29
years – a brilliant designer jewellery and
watch brand which never ceases to
intrigue and entice consumers.
Dyrberg Kern
For Spring/Summer 2015, the brand
is launching Dyrberg/Kern Designers’
Limited collection, characterized by
love for extravagant jewellery and
outrageous creativity. The extravagant
mix of brilliant and matte fancy cut
crystals from Swarovski Elements
feature across the range on chunky
short necklaces, fantastic earrings, a
double cocktail ring innovation and an
array of amazing bracelets. Each piece
is handmade in limited quantity, comes
with a special certificate and is delivered
in a luxurious gift box.
WAGNER PORCELAIN
& JEWELLERY
Fascinating stories are everywhere.
They are not just meant for writers to
put them on paper and Ana Wagner has
discovered that small stories can be told
on porcelain too. Wagner Arts launched
its first collection in the summer of
2009. Pendants, rings and bracelets
were appreciated for the refined
miniature design and delicateness. The
novelty stems from the combination
of porcelain, silver, gold and semiprecious stones which resulted in the
creation of some sophisticated items.
Introduced at the event will be the
Golden Palm collection: the signature
element is the palm. The theme of
vegetation, characteristic of Wagner
ARTE studio, is simplified to capture its
essence. The graphics of the landscape,
predominantly black and white, are
adorned with gold and platinum which
results in a visually enhanced effect,
which in turn creates pieces of jewellery
with a strong personality.

Transparente are very excited to be
bringing their collection to the UK
for the first time at Pure London. The
German brand is very proud to present
the newest knit collection which will
be different to anything they’ve done
before, but still matches perfectly their
signature Lagen look.
ZEITLOS
New to the UK, German brand Zeitlos
is perfect for the woman who already
knows her style. Easy soft fabrics
worked into sharp lines that contour
the body create a feminine, fashionable
oversize pieces with patched silk overlay
complement. Zeitlos is a must-see new
collection. The designs will be on display
at Pure London and in the new London
showroom in Hanover Square, 28.01 –
24.02.2015.
MINKPINK
MEL DREAMED BY MELISSA
Travelling all the way from Australia,
the iconic brand, Minkpink, will be
showcasing their brave and bold
collections. Designer, Rachel Evans,
founded Minkpink in 2005 after spotting
a gap in the market for well-designed,
yet affordable clothing. Eight years on,
Minkpink is being snapped up all of the
world and the brand shows no sign of
slowing down.
Mel Dreamed By Melissa is the playful
younger sister of Melissa, a happygo-lucky footwear brand whose only
aim in life is to sweeten your stride.
Taking on the same ethical stance as
its sister brand, Mel believes in being
vegan friendly, recyclable with a subtle
scent, and proving that fashion can
be thoughtful. At this February’s Pure
London Mel will be showcasing the new
SS15 collection which promises to be
the biggest and best yet.

ROSEMUNDE
DURVAL
Founded in 2004 and based in
Copenhagen, Rosemunde is
rooted in Scandinavian values, with
romantic, feminine style and business
dynamism at its core. The brand is
built on beautiful clothes that are
easy to wear, such as the bestselling
signature silk camisoles, cardigans and
fine knits. Functionality and femininity
are the two essential elements in
each and every piece that bears
the Rosemunde name, giving women the
touch of luxury, every day.
Classic Italian brand Durval will present
the AW15-16 collection. The Durval
woman this year is a chic globetrotter.
The new line includes casual split
leather bags in autumn colours, as well
as in the classic dark shades, always
characterised by its applied insects
– spiders and bees – that add irony

Based in East London, Brat and
Suzie was founded in 2009 by
twin sister duo Polly and Charlotte
Vickery. Since the brand’s inception,
Brat and Suzie has grown from a
small t-shirt brand that first sold

Tell us about your brand.
What do you stand for?
Kate: My sister and I took over an
existing business just over 3 years ago,
bought all the stock, changed all the
brands in store and then launched our
online website.
Sarah: Our main focus is customer
service; we are a long established brand,
expanding over three generations and
90 years! We remain true to our original
values of outstanding customer care,
inspiring fashion, and a passionate
dedication to helping women look and
feel their best.
Kate: Our brand personality is a true
reflection of what my sister and I believe
our customers would want to wear. It’s
a unique mix of contemporary brands
with a broad range of fun and unusual
accessories. We pride ourselves on
excellent customer service and spend a
lot of time sourcing brands that are not
available on the high street.
Vanessa: We always aim for the highest
quality; we spend lots of time sourcing,
and like to offer a very personal service
for our customers.
Becky: We are a well-established
independent retailer. We offer excellent
customer service, and a mix of clothing
from top to toe, from jeans to evening
wear.

Karina: Our tagline is: “Scandinavian
by name, stylish by nature” - we’ve
built our business around it. Our pieces
are timeless and ageless, they can be
worn to work or for going out. We stock
pieces by Scandinavian designers
because they share this philosophy. For
us, customer service is always a priority
– we always have Prosecco on chill for
our customers who are welcome to sit
down and chat during their visit.
How did you get to where you
are now?
Sarah: I have lived and breathed fashion
from a very early age! My mother was an
amazing role model. Following a course
in European business, I had several
placements in the fashion industry
before joining the family business. My
grandparents live just behind the shop!
Vanessa: I’m dyslexic, and I don’t
have lots of degrees under my belt. I
started my career in fashion in Barbour
in Edinburgh, and loved it so much and
worked so hard I was the manager in 6
months! When I found A Hume Country
Clothing, I fell in love with the fashion.
It is exactly my type of clothing, so I
basically hounded the shop until I got
my dream job!
Karina: I have studied social policy
which is people-focussed, as is now my
business. I used to write government
reports on anti-social behaviour, then
moved on to research. I was always
into fashion and always wore it with
a Scandinavian twist. Eventually, I
decided to open my own store, so
I took the time to plan the business
and what it should be about. I found
really lovely premises in the centre of
Edinburgh, so I went for it!

Where do you go for
inspiration?
Sarah: I like to take inspiration from the
people around me and my customers; we
have some fantastic regular customers,
some have even come on buying trips!
We also attend fashion shows in Paris
and the UK, and I am fortunate enough
to be so close to London so I can browse
the other shops.
Kate: We go to many places, read the
fashion supplements in newspapers,
look at online fashion sites, industry
leaders, read fashion magazines, attend
trade shows and keep very active on
social media which is the best place to
stay in tune.
Vanessa: I go online and look at blogs,
and visit the website “sheerluxe” which
is one of my favourites. I also read lots
of fashion magazines, I particularly
love Grazia! We are lucky here to be
surrounded by mills so I can look
through all the fabrics for inspiration.

fabric from the mills here!
Becky: I get my inspiration from all
over! I look at magazines, people in the
street, fashion exhibitions, a little bit of
online and Twitter.

including various cancer charities, which
are very close to home for a lot of our
clients, Children in Need and Movember.
What are you most looking
forward to at Pure London
in February?
Karina: Since we opened 6 years
Kate: All the events that are going
on and the people involved in
seminars and talks.
Karina: I’m inspired by Scandinavia
where I come from – I travel there quite
a lot, going to the cafés, museums,
art galleries, just to experience the
atmosphere. In Scandinavia, we love
living. It’s quite a holistic and cosy
culture where fashion is a way of life.
This translates quite well to the UK, as
the climate is quite similar!
ago, we have always supported local
charities. A local children’s cancer
charity is particularly close to our hearts.
What causes do you support?
Vanessa: I would say for people not
to judge a book by its cover and give
people a chance. There are a lot of men
in this industry, and being a woman
under 30, you don’t always get taken as
seriously as you might like; you have to
stand up for yourself!
Sarah: We do a lot of work for cancer
charities as this is something close
to our hearts, and to many of our
customers’ as well. Our ‘Calendar Girls’style calendar raised around £3,000 for
breast cancer awareness! We support
lots of local charities as well.
Vanessa: We do love to support
charities; it is something we are
specifically looking into at the moment.
We have supported local charities in the
past, recently running a charity raffle for
the Border Children’s Charity.

If you could make a difference
to the fashion world, what
would it be?
Kate: It would be to sell more brands
that are made in the UK.
Becky: I would get the seasons in the
right order! Sell winter pieces in the
winter and summer pieces in summer!
Karina: I would stop the larger retailer
from heavy discounting before the
traditional sale periods.
Vanessa: Seeing who’s there, and
how it has changed; it’s different
every year, and there was a huge
improvement last year, as a buyer,
you were made to feel extra special!
Top tips for getting the best
out of Pure London:
Sarah: Be methodical; go up and
down between each row of stands so
you don’t miss anything. Make sure
to take a break too, it is important to
keep your energy levels up!
Becky: Take your time and look
around, it’s a big show! You can
focus on specific brands but don’t
be afraid to go and investigate new
suppliers.
Karina: The show is so big, it’s
good to have a plan, and it helps to
be a little bit organised. And, most
importantly, wear comfortable shoes!

We all know retail is about
desire. But just what desires
are going to have the most
traction in fashion over the
next year?
If you understand how your customer
thinks you can service them far better so what will they be thinking about in the
year ahead?
Getting older will almost certainly be a
on their minds. After all, we all are - and
that’s official. The UK’s average age
is tipping over the 40-year mark for
the first time in history and the Office
of National Statistics states that the
over-50s now comprise 35% of total UK
population, adding they have the highest
disposable income.
It’s a lucrative market and the National
Centre of Social Research (NatCen) has
revealed that retirement leads to a more
active social life, with retirees spending
more on holidays, takeaway food and crucially - clothes.
And as the millennial demographic feels
the economic pinch, this more mature
shopper is co-opting ‘younger’ lifestyle
habits. The ONS data tell us 80% of
the UK’s 55-64 year olds have internet
access, and researchers at Deloitte say
that the over-50s are the fastest growth
area for smartphone penetration in 2014,
with half of the demographic using them.
The hyperconnected but mature
shopper is key, then. And the message
is if you have a site that is targeting this
cash-rich demographic and yet you

have not optimized for mobile, then you
are missing out. Do etail and do it well
through multiple channels - the need has
never been more urgent.
But whatever their age, your customers
will probably feel the effect of broad
cultural trends. Research centre Mintel
isolates some themes for the year ahead
in its 2015 consumer habits report. And
- whisper it - they hint at good news for
boutiques.
It suggests shoppers will increasingly
seek the comforts of a local life. A
growing distrust in the big power of
government and corporations is driving
consumers to engage more fully with the
shops in their town or businesses with a
human face.
Major retailers are on top of this with
Amazon placing collection lockers across
London Underground stations, parcel
service Doddle opening collection stores
at UK train stations, and Asos trialling
evening changing room pods open from
6-9pm, while click and collect fashion
hubs are likely to drive up online sales.
2015 will be the year that we all have to
accept shops never close. With the data
showing that a significant amount of
women shop after midnight the message
is clear. You simply must offer etail.
Likewise, whether looking locally or
globally, consumers want their fashion
to mean something, as 44% say ethical
treatment of workers influences their
shopping choices and 33% cite brands’
environmental policies as key.
However, even ethics holds less sway
than convenience. Mintel’s research
reveals that 79% of UK clothing
shoppers say that a company’s returns
policy now influences their buying.

With many of the UK’s boutiques going online for the first
time or ramping up their operations, we learn that in etail, the
words you write can be your best sales tool
It’s time to unleash your inner fashion
writer. As Stephanie King, director at
Writers Bloc – a recruitment consultancy
that has placed writers at Whistles,
Net-A-Porter, M&S and more - says:
“Narrative sells product now.”
It’s a key message that comes as many
of Pure London’s heartland retailers tell
us this is the year they will broach - or
perhaps more likely revisit - etail.
It’s well timed. UK shoppers are
estimated to spend £107bn online this
year, according to online association
IMRG, and to have devoted 45mln
shopping hours to etail over Christmas
alone - according to the analysts at
Experian Hitwise.
Grabbing some of that action is a
sensible business move. But with so
many competitors out there how do you
stand out?
The analysts at Verdict Retail confirm
that conversion rates (when browsers
become shoppers) are higher on sites
with “enjoyable and quirky” experiences.
Verdict’s report cites the likes of Boden
and Jack Wills among the bestperforming fashion sites, thanks to their
clear personalities.
Verdict offers some concrete tips to
drive online sales: host better outfitbuilding tools including buy-the-look
options; offer click and collect instore:
give free postal returns. It’s all about
building a sense of true convenience to
drive repeat business and volume.
GET WRITING
But the stories online need to build up
too. Lisa Barnard at London creative
agency Illustrated London News,
makes the point that you have to write
rather a lot - and for practical reasons.
“The idea of having fewer words and
more pictures is simply not enough
anymore,” she says. “The Google
algorithm changed. It now seeks more
depth and more content to establish
a site’s relevance to a subject.” In
essence, the more you write the more
Google ‘believes’ in your site. The best
way to do that? Natalie Bulmer, features
editor at ShopDirect says it’s about
being clear who your audience is and
developing a tone of voice that works
for them.
At Writer’s Bloc, King underlines that
message. “The bricks and mortar
retailers have been slowest to catch on
to the value of online content, but what
we are now seeing is that etail gives
smaller operations just the same reach
as large ones.”
She tells the story of a Yorkshire pig
farmer that was going out of business
until it discovered Instagram and social
media. It used these to just the show
the world it was small family business
packed with personality and - long story
short - sales rocketed.
“So be true to yourself,” she says.
“Don’t try too hard otherwise people
won’t believe you. You already have
expertise in fashion, so use that.”
What is certain is that with more
boutiques turning to etail, only those
with the best content and user
experience will succeed. Make sure
that’s you.
