One again our fraternal family celebrates the Christmas Season giving us the opportunity to share the tenets of fraternal life with all our brothers and sisters. Christmas allows at least one day of the year to remind us that we're here for something else besides ourselves. Remember that he who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. MERRY CHRISTMAS EAGLES! Remember-The principal advantage of the non-parental lifestyle is that on Christmas Eve you need not be struck dumb by the three most terrifying words that the government allows to be printed on any product: “Some assembly required.” AERIE WEBSITE at www.foe882.com Don’t Forget to check us out on Facebook! Dues Reminder –If your membership card expiration date reads November 30, 2014, YOU ARE PAST DUE. You are more than welcome to pay them by mail, at the bar or in the Aerie Secretary’s office. We held the Children’s Halloween Party at Skateland and had about 20 kids and almost as many parents. They had a great time and each child received a bag full of treats. Thanks to all of the ladies that helped to make this a success, special thanks to Shirley Ragar, Cathy Jones & Marsha Taylor. The 110th Anniversary of the Aerie was held on October 25th. We were honored to have the following speakers and guest: GWVP Jerry Sullivan & wife Maxine, SWP George “Bob” Arnold & wife PSMP & Mid Atlantic Chairman, Fran Arnold, PSMP Nancy Moffat & guest, Frank Lundie & wife Shelly, Steven Jones, both spoke on the Frank Lundie Scholarship Awards, and a representative from the Wounded Warrior Canine Project. The ROTC from Petersburg High School presented the colors. Jimmy Faye Lundie gave a beautiful rendition of “God Bless America”. There were remembrances of our past Brothers & Sisters. Membership awards were given to 50 year Aerie members: A.L. Abernathy, G.R. “Gippy” Belcher, Harold Burcham, Sr., Paul Burcham, Melvin Hall, Sr., Ronald Lundie, Richard Martin, Sr., Aubrey Whirley and Albert Williams. The ladies were given awards for 25 years to 40 years. A great dinner was served and catered by our Sister Shelby Harrison. There was a candle lighting & cake cutting ceremony to remember this special occasion. The Masters of ceremony for the event were: PWP Mike Lubman and SMC & our MP Lynn Jones. The event was held at the Civic Center because the event needed special video equipment for presentation of all of the pictures of past events held at the Aerie home. There were pictures on display of other events held back as far as the first Eagle picnic. There are numerous people to thank for making the anniversary a success and possible, but I would like to thank a few that worked diligently from the very first meeting: Vince Foresta, Rose Williams, Crystal Christian, Danny Wiggins, Eddie Collins, Wanda Bennett, and others too numerous to mention Ladies Cookbooks – Pick up your cookbook today, or ask any sister for a copy….the cost is $10.00 per book with all proceeds to the Scholarship Fund Thanksgiving Dinner – was held at our November 11th meeting, it was a great turnout and we shared in our many blessings as sister and brothers of the FOE. Mini Pool Tournament & Cabbage & Meatloaf Dinner - November 29th – the ladies are having dinner to coincide with the Pool Tournament with all proceeds all proceeds to the Frank Lundie Scholarship Fund. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a great group of people, the pool players! We had such fun and a lot of laughs when we all get together! Ladies Christmas Party – will be immediately following our December 9th, meeting everyone is to bring a snack to share with your sisters. If you would like to exchange a $10.00 gift, please bring one. Children’s Breakfast with Santa will be on December 13th, 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. – please come down and sign your child up.
