As the Provincial Convention moves closer and closer in Cranbrook I urge all of my Committee Chairs to have their

Just a note on the Pacific Northwest Regional Conference: it will be hosted by Auburn, Washington this year in October from the 15th to 17th.

OLYMPIC TORCH RUN : A GALLERY of CARVINGS
AERIE 2690 - HOPE, BC
The pictures are of a recent gallery of
carvings done for the Olympic Torch
run.
The carvings will go on permanent
display in front of the Eagles Hall in
Hope, BC after The Gallery closes.
It will then become part of the Tour of
Carvings throughout Hope which
starts at the city owned park and is on
all the tourist maps.
This is quite a feather in Hope’s Hat
as it will be putting the Fraternal Order of Eagles on the Tourist Map of
the world.

FOE Vancouver Island Disaster Relief Trailer
The Island Disaster Relief Trailer is locked, loaded and ready for the next dispatch. We had a call out to the Duncan floods in November, where we supplied a few items to assist the people affected by the high water.
The group also spent several hours this winter working on supply systems and packaging hygiene kits for future
distribution.
Financial support for the project continues to come in from Aeries, Auxiliaries, and other Community organizations . We are very grateful for the support we are receiving
from everyone.
We expect to be having officer elections for our association in
late April. Any Eagle or Auxiliary member in British Columbia
who wishes to become involved at the officer level is encouraged
to contact Shirley Hunt at (250) 245-1374 or Bill Yearley at
(250) 246- 4973 or contact any of the Island Aerie or Auxiliary
members.
Hopefully you will never have a bad situation in your community
where we are required to attend, but if you do need the trailer
and its supplies we are there for you.

I am working on visitations and Chairmen for Committees for my term. Secretaries please watch your mail
for letters as they will be sent out next week (editor’s note: Kit’s message was dated April 6th).
Things are going very well in the Okanagan. We have only two months left to get new members for Provincial President Marty so let’s get out there and “ROPE EM IN” boys.
Last weekend we were in Kamloops for our spring Executive Meeting. The meetings went very well and
Kamloops did a great job as they always do.

Hello Brothers,
Let’s Round ‘Em Up and Rope ‘Em In for Brother Marty!
Two months left to go in the term, Brothers, and we still
have quotas to make and Rope Numbers to be
achieved, and two months is lots of time.
Here are the Aerie counts as of March 31st:

Aerie Membership - New & Re-enrolled Members
I hope you have all made it through the winter and are looking forward
to the sunny days ahead.
Well the term is almost over and we are still short some numbers in
the membership department and we need to fix that right away.
We had our Provincial executive meeting not long ago and I had mentioned to the Brothers in attendance that we need to rope some more
in for Marty. One of the things that I suggested is to phone the lapsed
members, not just from this term but the past couple of terms. These
people were good enough to be a member once so why not phone
them and see if they will re-enroll!!
We have done this in Abbotsford for the past few years and have had
great success in getting a large number back. They have really appreciated being contacted and it made them feel that they have not been
forgotten.
I hear so often “well I don’t know anyone else to sign up”, well yes you
do! Along with the Provincial Secretary I have been going over the
names of past members from all of the Aeries and you ALL have a
healthy list to choose from.
Let’s help Marty make quota and beyond – all members
up to May 31st count towards the total.
Thanks very much,
Will Heigh, Secretary
BC Prov. Membership Board
So please phone - it won’t take you long.
Not long ago I phoned 150 members to remind them that it was time to
pay their dues, so I’m sure you all can contact your lapsed list and get
some back.
Remember that a re-enroll counts for your quota and there are some
Aeries out there that have not signed up or re-enrolled anyone. We
were 110 members and re-enrolls short of the quota at the time of the
executive meeting , so please help out and get the
members back and if possible sign up some new ones.
Thank you for all your work so far this year. We are
looking forward to giving the grand prize to that hard
working Brother who is lucky enough to have their name
drawn from the bucket.

Hello Brothers & Sis- documents have been passed around via email that are stored in .docx format. This is the latest
ters,
Word (Office) format.
I just wanted to pass
a little knowledge
along to all of you
about documents.
Recently, a lot of
Many of you with new computers, received a trial version of MS Office or it may have come with
your new computer, which is great. Unfortunately now when you save a document in word, it defaults to the .docx format.
Many people in Eagledom, who do not have the latest office cannot read a .docx document without adding a special converter to their Office suite. Being technical, I have the converter, but
many of our Brothers & Sisters do not have this knowledge and cannot read your document.
So if you could, when sending a document out via email or to others, could you please use the
"Save As" option from the File Menu. Select Save as type: Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc).
That way you can insure that the majority of your Eagle Brothers & Sisters will be able to get
your message.

Provincial Secretary Message
Hello again, Brothers. It’s just 62 days to go until
the Cranbrook Convention. Time has flown by this
year and we appreciate all your hard work on the
many worthy causes we all support. Just a reminder to the Aeries that any Aeries wishing to
host the 2013 Convention should get their bid
letters in to me by the first day of Convention.
In addition, please be sure to get any applications
for Mr & Mrs Eagle to Brother Wayne Cummings
at [email protected] as soon as possible, and
any submissions for consideration for the Eagles
Hall of Fame as soon as possible to PPP Geoff
Middlehurst at [email protected].
Charity reports from your Aeries are due in by
April 30th, so please get them in to Charities Coordinator David Thomson by phone at 250-4898416, by snail mail at 196 Lombard DR., Trail, BC,
V1R 4V6 or via email @ [email protected]
Any Aeries supporting new or continuing Brothers
for Provincial Office should get their Aerie authorized letters of support in by May 15th. Please remember Brothers that all Brothers must have
submitted a letter in order to be eligible to serve
on the Provincial Aerie (this Provincial By-law
revision came effective in November of 2009).
Also, please send in the names of your Aerie’s
deceased members by May 22nd to guarantee that
their names are not left out of our Convention’s
Memorial Service.
As for Archival material, we’re still looking for
Convention Booklets from the following years:
1945 through 1952, 1954 through 1957, 1959,
1960, 1962 through 1966, 1974, 1976 and 1982.
Originals will be scanned and returned if Aeries or
individuals would like them back.
All Provincial Aerie Convention minutes are now in
the archives, thanks to many Brothers and Aeries
within BC.
Lastly, Convention Coordinator Steve Chisholm at
[email protected] is hoping to have all the preregistration money and names in by May 15th at
the latest, so please do him this favour and decide
on your Delegates and list the Past Presidents
who will be attending. The registration form for
Convention is available on the Provincial website’s
Convention 2010 page which also should have
been mailed out to all the Aeries – A copy of the
registration is in the back of this newsletter.
Also, hopefully, those Aeries who want an ad in
the Convention Booklet have already sent the
request in to Brother Steve.
Based on the MMS System
data:
Only 93% of the Aerie Officers in BC are listed in MMS,
when 100% are supposed to
be, according to the Grand
Aerie Compliance Officer.
Only 81% of the Aerie Officers in BC are
reachable directly by telephone, when 99.2% of
the population has at least one phone.
Less than 25% of the Aerie Officers in BC are
reachable directly by email, when 89% of the
population has at least one email address
If there is a communications problem across
BC, these facts may explain part of it.
So please, Aerie Secretaries, canvass all your
Aerie's officers for at least one phone number
and one email address, and be sure they get
entered into the MMS System. Officers, please
be sure to provide phone numbers and email
addresses, if they exist, to your Secretaries if
they exist. We can all do better to keep each
other in the loop.
Submitted by Will Heigh
In closing, following is a Schedule Reminder for
the Aerie Secretaries in BC:
The Provincial Executive looks forward to seeing
you in Cranbrook on June 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Past Grand Worthy Presidents Ken Cross, Bill
Loffer and Pacific Northwest Regional President
Jack Rhein will be in attendance so until soon, be
well, and drive safely.

Spinal Cord “Quality of Life” Concerns
From the Desk of Randall Didiuk
– New Westminster Aerie #20
ATTENTION:
All B.C. Eagle Brothers
Recently our Worthy Provincial President, Brother Martin Kennelly requested that I act as B.C. Spinal Cord
Chair for the remainder of the 2009/2010 Eagle Term …
That being said, I would like to request that all Aeries look at their Spinal Cord Charity Activities & Funds.
We would like to encourage that ALL B.C. Aeries “contribute” & “top-up” their Spinal Cord Funds for
“presentation” at the upcoming June 2010 Provincial Eagle Convention …
Spinal Cord Charity has had a long history with the F.O.E. and our B.C. Aeries over the years … We would
wish to keep this tradition strong …
There are very many ways to contribute to Spinal Cord QOL (Quality of Life) Projects and also for the Search
for the Cure – Nerve Tissue Regeneration …
The Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion June 13th Event Day is only one area of Aerie Spinal Cord Support.

Hello Everyone,
This term has been great. I have had the honor of being our Lower
Mainland Visitation Chair and have really enjoyed visiting all the Lower
Mainland Clubs. On every occasion the hosting Aerie has done an excellent job. The food has been delicious; the friendship has been great
and the cocktails, always great. Our final Visitation will be held in Hope
on April 23rd and 24th. They always put on an excellent event so it
would great to see all of you there.
Our Officer Executive Meeting was held in Kamloops March 27th and
28th. I would like to congratulate Kamloops on a job well done in hosting the weekend. It was great to see Mr. Snufalufagus (AKA Mike
McFee) there, I have missed you.
In Abbotsford, my home Aerie, Bill and Janet Davies hosted a Fundraiser Dance on March 27th. All the proceeds of $5650.00 from the
dance is going to towards finding a cure of Multiple Sclerosis. Well
done both of you. There was a draw for $500.00 worth of booze and
guess who won - me!! If I can only keep Dani away from it Kersey, Will
and I should be able to have a couple all-nighters. Of course we will be
discussing Provincial stuff because it is amazing how smart we get after
a couple of drinks.
ward to seeing everyone there. I wish our incoming Provincial Worthy President Kit Chamberland the best of
luck and congratulations on a great job by our outgoing
Worthy President Marty Kennelly.

If you guys haven’t already heard, the Super Bowl weekend in Abbotsford was something to remember. Not only did the torch run go by our
Club that day, we also had a visit by some every voluptuous Cheerleaders. A group of guys from the Club got together to raise money for
Lung Cancer by dressing up as Cheerleaders and getting pledges from
friends and family. We raised $5700.00! It was quite a half time show
that will not soon be forgotten. If you haven’t had a chance to see the
