I am excited to develop a working relationship with her and the business community well into the future. In fact, we had a staffed education department for ten years. At that time we received a grant to explore the perception of value Pantone of public education by the residents of Manchester. At the same time we introduced and managed numerous partnership that matched 180U programs 383U 5565U 50 business people with principals and 25 32 students. 0 December 1, 2009 At this challenging time, we still think that a good and respected public education system is the bedrock of a vital and thriving community. Graduating qualified and competent young people who are self-actualized and enlightened, creative thinkers and problem solvers, attracts more businesses and keeps existing businesses in the region. Today, our role has evolved from where it was ten years ago. We are rebooting our involvement with K-12 public education at with a new program that was born out of our newly formed Education Committee called Educator Leadership Greater Manchester. This program will be modeled after our current Leadership Greater Manchester program. E-LGM will occur one-time-per-month from 3:306:00 p.m., from October to June. The program was developed under the premise that most teachers go from college to the classroom with little to no experience in the non-academic work environment. The Education Committee believes that if teachers/educators have good relations with area business leaders and a better understanding of business leaders’ needs, it will in turn influence their teaching priorities and their approach to teaching, for the benefit of students as the future workforce. The ultimate objective is to provide teachers During the pilot year we will have space for ten teachers. Each month will be dedicated to a specific industry. Some of the business segments that may be visited may include hospitality, technology, retail, law, government, nonprofit, engineering and public safety. Our hope is that this program will continue to grow year over year and we can continue to connect educators with the business community directly to share their needs. If you’d like to get involved please consider joining the Education Committee at the Chamber. We’ll share the progress here in this newsletter as the program progresses.
