FISCAL YEAR
2012
Greetings,
I am very proud to announce that, despite the enormous
challenges that healthcare organizations currently face,
The Mental Health Center of Greater
Manchester concluded Fiscal Year
2012 in a financially sound position
with all our service programs intact. As
we look to the future, we anticipate the
advent of Medicaid Managed Care at
the state level and, at the national level,
there remains much divisiveness and
uncertainty surrounding what to do about
healthcare coverage. As we move into
FY 2013, however, we remain cautiously
optimistic
Thanks to effective strategic planning by our Board
and the tireless efforts of our staff, The Mental Health
Center of Greater Manchester is well positioned to
meet these challenges. We cannot, however, be lured
into complacency by our successes to date. We must
continue to find ways to adapt to a changing and troubled
healthcare environment.
In closing, I wish to express The Center’s gratitude to
all the community partners, volunteers, family members,
consumers and friends who have collaborated with us
and supported us throughout the year. We look forward
to continuing to serve our community by providing high
quality, cost effective care.
Sincerely,

●The center has been selected as
one of two sites for a 5-year research
project funded by the National Institute
of Mental Health, which will be
conducted by the Boston University
Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
It is an expanded study of techniques
used to improve the likelihood of
securing and retaining employment by
persons affected by serious mental
illness.
●We are actively engaged in the
process of activating our new
electronic medical record. We are on
schedule with the implementation plan
and look forward to the day that it
becomes fully operational.
It will
enable us to provide care that is more
effective, efficient, and responsive.
●Due to the very challenging economic
times, our Board of Directors
increased The Center’s fundraising
goal for FY12 by more than 30%.
Thanks to the outstanding support we
received from so many in our
community , we not only met that goal
but we exceeded it by 10%.
●We made 125 community presentations
to a variety of community groups on
mental health and wellness issues,
including a collaborative anti-stigma
program with the Currier Museum of Art.
The event featured a documentary by
John Cadigan, a noted artist who has
schizophrenia, titled “People Say I’m
Crazy.” The movie, attended by over
200 people, was followed by a panel of
responders and a dialogue with the
audience.
●NH was awarded a grant from the
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid
Services to expand InSHAPE, a health
promotion/fitness program to reduce
illness risk factors for persons affected by
serious and persistent mental illnesses.
“Healthy Choices-Healthy Changes”
allows us to add two additional Health
Mentors, for a total of four, enabling us
to now serve up to 120 clients.
●Our Consultation and Education
Department has provided a range of
training services to mental health
programs from nine states and three
foreign countries (Denmark, Canada &
Australia) concerning the introduction,
implementation and effective utilization
of
Evidence
Based
Practices.
