You will see the pre-paid booth on your left as you turn to the exit from the luggage belt. The standard charge for reaching IIT Guwahati is about INR 500 (five hundred). For those staying in different hotels in the city, the rates may vary from INR 400-600. Guwahati Airport to IIT Guwahati campus drive is about 25 km, and should take between 45-60 minutes if the traffic is clear, crossing the mighty Brahmaputra on your way. On arrival at the Guwahati station: For commuting from the station to the IIT Guwahati campus, taxis and auto-rickshaws are available from the parking area near the main entrance of the station just out side platform number 1. Please note that although taxis and auto-rickshaws are available for transport but are without meters and fares have to be negotiated. It will however not exceed INR 500. IIT Guwahati has its own bus service to ply to and fro from the campus to the city. The IITG bus stand is also near Guwahati Railway station. If you come out from the main entrance near platform number 1, a few minutes walk will take you to Reserve Bank of India. The bus leaves from there. It is a green and white bus with a board in the front written as “On IIT Duty”. The bus timing is given at the end of this information document. Radio Taxi Radio taxi service is also available in Guwahati. Please call 0361-222-2233 to book a Prime Cab or call 0361-222-8888 to book a My Taxi. If you prefer a radio cab, it is adviseable to reserve one before arrival in Guwahati. Pick-up and drop-off services for participants staying in the city hotels We have arranged two cars for pick-up and drop-off purpose for the participants staying at the Radison Blu and Gateway Grandeur hotel. A bus has been arranged for participants staying in the hotels near Panbazar area. The cars/buses will be available at 7:15 am in the morning. We request the particpants to wait in the respective hotel's lobby by 7:10 am (for the very first day and later on by 7:30 am). There will be student volunteers (available only for the first day) for helping you regarding transport from hotels near Panbazar area, however no student volunteers will be available for participants staying in Radisson Blu and Gateway Grandeur. The same buses and cars will take you back to the hotels after the meeting. Please try to maintain the time since traffic on the bridge over the Brahmaputra river may become a cause of trouble in the early hours of the morning. Accommodation: For those who are staying in the IITG campus, the accommodation has been arranged in the IITG guest house, Manas Hostel (for boys) and Subansiri hostel (for girls). If you have not already informed us, please let us know if you prefer to have vegetarian meal. You have to arrange for your own breakfast and dinner. For those staying in the Guest house: you have to pre-book your breakfast and dinner at the guest house itself. For those staying in hostels: The hostel dining has been informed about your stay. Please book your breakfast/dinner by collecting the coupon from the dining area. For those staying in city hotels: The breakfast/dinner has to be arranged at the respective hotels by the participants. There are a few places inside the IITG campus where you can look for breakfast/dinner: 1. IRCTC canteen (Tech Nax): It is situated near core 3 of the academic area. Serves Indian/Asamese/Chinese cuisines. It generally opens around 9 am in the morning. The dinner starts from 7:30 pm and closes at 10:45 pm. 2. The new SAC building has a couple of eating places including an ice cream parlour from Buskin and Robbins. Meeting Venue: The meeting is planned to be in the main Auditorium and the Conference Centre of IIT Guwahati, which is within the walking distance from the guesthouse as well as from the hostels. Please see the campus map for location, and how-to-reach. A very pleasant morning walk will take you to the meeting venue. Internet connection: For the participants staying in guesthose: The guesthouse is equipped with WIFI connection. The login id and password will be provided in your welcome kit. The meeting venue is also WIFI enabled. You will be able to use the same id and password here as well. In addition, all the guesthouse rooms have LAN connection. You will have to carry your cable to connect. Instructions to use this facility are available in the respective rooms. For the participants staying in the hostels: You have to carry your own ethernet cable for connection from your hostel room because there is no WIFI connection available in the hostels. The participants can use the LAN available in each room of the hostels to connect to internet. The details will be provided with your registration kit. For areas such as Auditorium, conference centres, guest house and academic area, you may please use the guest wifi which is available in those areas with the same user id and password. Weather: Guwahati enjoys a very pleasant weather at this time, with temperature ranging from 1018 degree Celsius. Please bring some warm clothing. The weather is also expected to be dry. Medical issues: For any medical issues, the IITG hospital situated near the guest house. It has three medical officers, three visiting consultants for ENT, Psychiatric and Paediatric consultation. Besides it has three medical consultants in OPD. There is also a pharmacy inside the hospital. Uploading your presentations: For the smooth running of the conference we request all the participants who are giving a presentation (including plenary and mini review speakers) to upload your presentation files well in advance via web-uploading service now available in the conference webpage. Please follow the steps below: 1. Go to http://www.iitg.ernet.in/DAE-HEP2014/public/ 2. Login with your user id and password which you have used during your registration. 3. In the menu bar on the top of the page you will see a dropdown menu saying “Hi, your name”. 4. On placing the mouse above it will show you the link “upload talk”.
