WELCOME TO EFH
Welcome to the association of the best
European Hostels – setting the standards,
promoting each other and being promoted
collectively.
ABOUT US
Europe’s Famous Hostels was created in 1995
to promote member hostels across Europe.
Originally called "The Famous Five", with only
5 members, it grew over the years and
renamed itself "Europe’s Famous Hostels" to
reflect this. In 2013 there are 37 members.
The association’s purpose is to benefit its
members through a network of independent
hostels, all equal to each other. The word
"famous" is well recognized by our customers
as a guarantee to have a great stay at
unbeatable value. All our hostels are safe,
secure and clean.

HOW IT WORKS
Management of the association:
· We have a Coordinator and an elected Executive Board to make decisions on
behalf of the association. Every member has a vote, and every member is equal.
The Executive is a voluntary position to oversee the running of the association
and make decisions on the member’s behalf. The Executive positions are open
to every member.
·
The Executive and Coordinator have a monthly meeting on matters concerning
the association – minutes are sent to all members.
· All members are welcome to attend Executive meetings and join in.
· All members sign a "Constitution" for the association, agreeing to abide by the
rules of the association. The Constitution is legally binding and a majority
member vote is required to make any changes to it.
· The Executive is elected annually, with the Chairman staying 2 years.
· The accounts are managed by our Treasurer and audited annually by
an external accountant.
· Membership fees are required to be paid promptly on invoice. The commissions
made through bookings are repaid monthly to EFH from Hostelbookers, and
repaid to the hostels by EFH annually.

OUR HOSTEL STANDARDS
Each hostel maintains the association’s standards to form a brand that is trusted.
Our hostels are award winning, safe, and have the best ratings and reviews from
independent backpackers - an average over all our hostels of 91% on
Hostelworld.com. We expect hostels to maintain these standards, and make a
maximum effort to keep their overall, staff and cleanliness ratings as high as possible.

with all designs available for download.
