Class Information
Welcome to Needham Dance Theatre
Celebrating our 25 year, Needham Dance Theatre continues to offer the
finest quality dance instruction to children in Needham and the surrounding
communities, in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

INTERMEDIATE JAZZ This program is designed for our more experienced jazz students. This class
will include challenging choreography and the opportunity for technical growth. We strongly
encourage all intermediate jazz students to take ballet in addition to their jazz class(es). (Attire:
black jazz pants, black leotard and black jazz shoes)
Classes
Needham Dance Theatre offers a complete range of dance classes for students of all levels. Please see
the descriptions of each class below and refer to our schedule for specific days and times. If you are
unsure which class is right for your child, please don’t hesitate to call us.
PLEASE NOTE: All students must pull longer hair back off of the face. Boys’ attire varies from class to
class. Please inquire.
JAZZ Students learn contemporary dance
style set to popular music. Jazz emphasizes
coordination and flexibility, rhythm and
musicality as well as freedom of movement
and self-expression. (Attire: suntan tights
or black jazz pants, black leotard and black
jazz shoes)
JAZZ/TAP If you think tap looks fun, it is!
This high-energy class consists of basic jazz
and tap rhythms, traveling steps and winds
up with spirited choreography designed to
sharpen coordination and musicality. (Attire:
suntan tights or black jazz pants, black
leotard, black tap shoes and black jazz shoes)
DANCE ‘N TUMBLE An ideal first class for our youngest students, this class includes the
fundamentals of ballet and creative movement through imaginative dance and basic tumbling.
This beginner class is presented in a positive age appropriate manner. (Attire: pink tights, black
leotard and pink ballet slippers)

BALLET This enriching program offers
our students sound technical instruction.
Dancers develop strength, flexibility, and
elegance that will be theirs for a lifetime.
Beginner and Intermediate levels available.

BALLET/JAZZ For the dancer who respects
the traditional beauty of ballet, but also
craves the up-beat, contemporary style of
jazz, we created this class, which offers the
best of both worlds! (Attire: pink tights,
black leotard, pink ballet slippers and black
jazz shoes)
BALLET/TAP This class offers forty minutes
of ballet instruction, followed by a change of
pace and a quick change of shoes! The tap
portion of the class includes twenty minutes
of beginner tap rhythms, progressions across
the floor and basic tap choreography. (Attire:
pink tights, black leotard and pink ballet
slippers, black tap shoes)
BALLET/TUMBLE Similar to Ballet/Tap, we
start with ballet instruction, then break out
the mats as we follow it up with twenty
minutes of tumbling skills, such as forward
and backward rolls and introduction to
cartwheels. (Attire: pink tights, black leotard
and pink ballet slippers)
POINTE This class is for our advanced ballet students. A portion of the class will consist of
supported pointe work at the barre. It will also include unsupported technique and progression
across the floor.

HIP HOP Hip hop
is a popular urbaninfluenced dance
style set to current
and sometimes
edgy music that
encourages freedom
of movement and
individual expression.

SUMMER INTENSIVE FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLERS Classes in Jazz, Hip Hop,
Modern, Ballet and Pointe. Instruction from the area’s best Master Teachers. Dance all day,
every day all week, various dance styles, improve your technique with this intense schedule

GRACE NOYES,
OWNER &
FOUNDER
Grace founded
Needham Dance
Theatre in 1987
and served as
its Director for
many years. She
has more than 30 years of dance teaching
experience and before opening NDT,
taught in Weston Public Schools and at the
prestigious Edra Toth School of Ballet, under
Boston Ballet soloist Edra Toth. Grace studied
dance education at The Boston Conservatory,
University of Massachusetts Amherst and
Smith College.

Dance Camp during summer vacation for

ANDI NEIL,
DIRECTOR
Andi has directed
the Needham
Dance Theatre
program for 14
years and has
taught dance in
our studio since
she joined us as an instructor in 1992. An
accomplished performer and choreographer,
Andi danced professionally for 8 years with
Impulse Dance Company of Boston. She is
also a certified gymnastics judge, and has
choreographed floor routines for competitive
gymnastics teams throughout Boston for
many years. Andi has a B.S. in Engineering
from Roger Williams College.
