To fulfill this mission, the Department has developed principles of operation to provide guidance and direction to its personnel. The following information may be helpful to you and your teams upon arrival to New Paltz. Services and Equipment Provided: Board Certified/New York State Licensed Athletic Trainers are available at all of our home intercollegiate events. There may also be athletic training students from the Marist Athletic Training Education Program assigned to a staff member to aid in coverage of an event. We will be available to tape your players and provide additional services, but do ask that you provide all necessary materials. Modalities such as ice and moist heat packs will be available to your athletes. Electrical stimulation and ultrasound will be available based on the availability of the New Paltz Athletic Training staff member provided detailed treatment instructions have been included. We will provide the following: • Water and ice at each bench • Emergency supplies (AED, vacuum splints, etc.) **Please note that bench towels and water bottles will not be provided to any teams. Cups will be available on request. 5 |2012-13 SUNY New Paltz Visitors Guide Athletic Training Information Facilities: We have one central athletic training room on campus in which rehabilitation and pre-participation preparation for practices and games takes place. Location: Elting Gym Room 103 Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Athletic Training services are available 1 hour prior to all practices (2 hours prior to all competitions) and 30 minutes after. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have prior to the start of the contest. After Contest Teams will also be able to get back into the locker rooms to shower and change if they so choose. If visiting teams would like a space to sit down and eat in our Athletics, Wellness and Recreation center after a game then that must be set up with Ryan Hooper (Event Manager, contact information below) at least 72 hours in advance. Any other special requests must also be made at least 72 hours in advance. We may not be able to accommodate all requests but we will do what we can within our means. DVD of Game Certain sports will be able to receive copies of their game on DVD, this will be done in accordance with the SUNYAC video exchange policies (SUNYAC Teams Only). If a visiting team does not have enough time to wait for the copy to be made then it will be sent to the visiting institution within 48 hours by the coach of that respective sport. Each general locker room is equipped with lockers, bathrooms and showers. We recommend that teams bring their equipment, and other valuable items with them after exiting the locker room. If your team is arriving early and would like to schedule a practice time please contact our Associate Athletic Director, Brian Williams at [email protected] or (845) 257-3910 to make the necessary arrangements. From the northeast/west take the NYS Thruway (I-90) to Albany and then south (I-87) to exit 18. From the southwest take Route 17 east to Route 17K to NYS Thruway (I-87) north to to exit 18. From Connecticut take I-84 west to exit 7S. Follow sign for NYS Thruway (I-87). Take Thruway north to exit 18. From New Jersey take the Garden State Parkway to Route 17 (Exit 163). Proceed 14 miles to NYS Thruway north to exit 18. Alternate route: Via Route 287, go northwest on State Rt. 17 to New York. Take I-287 north to I-87. Go north on I-87 to exit 18. From Mid Hudson Bridge turn right onto Route 9W north. Proceed 2 3/4 miles to traffic light at intersection with Route 299. Turn left onto 299 and proceed approximately six miles to New Paltz. Turn left onto South Manheim Boulevard (Rt. 32 South). From Adirondack Trailways bus station, New Paltz The Trailways bus station is located on the corner of Main Street and Prospect Street. From the parking lot, turn left onto Main Street. Go up hill to the traffic light (Rt. 32 & South Manheim Blvd.), turn right. Proceed 1/8 mile, campus is on your right. Trailways Bus System information (845) 255-6520. From Stewart International Airport, Newburgh, New York, Turn left out of Stewart onto Rt. 207. Go approximately 2 miles, then turn left onto Route 300 north. Stay on Route 300 for approximately 3 miles. At light at intersection of Rt. 300 and 17k, turn right onto 17k south. Make first left onto I-87/NYS Thruway entrance. Go north on I-87 to exit 18. Public Transportation from Stewart: Take the Newburgh-Beacon Link from Stewart to the Shortline Bus Station in Newburgh and from there take the bus to New Paltz. From train station, Poughkeepsie, New York - Hudson Line: Taxi cabs are available most hours from the train station. If driving from train station, go west on US 44 across the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Then follow directions above from Mid-Hudson Bridge.Amtrak (800) 872-7245, Metro North (800) METRO-INFO. *From Exit 18* turn left at the traffic light after toll booth. Turn left at the third traffic light onto South Manheim Boulevard (Rt. 32 South). Several campus entrances are on the right side of the road, depending on which part of campus you are here to visit. See the campus map for more information. 10 |2012-13 SUNY New Paltz Visitors Guide Directions From Exit 18 - Alternative Route: To avoid Main Street traffic in the Village of New Paltz, use the following directions from Exit 18. Turn left at the traffic light after toll booth. Turn left at first traffic light on to South Putt Corners Rd. Follow that road to the end. At the stop sign, turn right onto Rt. 32. After approximately one mile, you will see several campus entrances on the left side of the road, depending on which part of campus you are here to visit. See the campus map for more information. From Exit 17 - To avoid possible congestion on Thruway/Rt. 299/Main St. To avoid Main Street entirely AND POSSIBLE CONGESTION ON THE THRUWAY BETWEEN EXITS 17 AND 18, use the following directions from Exit 17 (Newburgh). After the toll booth, follow the signs to Route 300 North. At the light, turn left on to Route 300 North. After about 3 miles, continue straight onto Route 32 North. After about 14 miles, you will see several campus entrances on the left side of the road. Facility Directions: To Athletic and Wellness Center (includes: Hawk Center, Locker Rooms and Athletic Training Room): From Route 32 South, several campus entrances are on the right side of the road. Enter the last campus entrance (South Entrance). Please note that roller hockey courts will be located on your right proceed down South Side Loop to the second stop sign. Turn Right and the Athletic and Wellness Center is on your left. Loren Campbell Field (Baseball)/Mary Grace Deane Softball Field: Take South Entrance onto South Loop Road. Follow to second stop sign take a right onto South Road. Follow to stop sign (passing the Athletic and Wellness Center on your left). Take a left onto Southside Loop Road. Follow to Wallkill parking lot 30. Fields are adjacent to parking lot. Varsity Tennis Courts: Take South Entrance onto South Loop Road. Follow to second stop sign take a right onto South Road. Follow to stop sign (passing the Athletic and Wellness Center on your left). Take a left onto Southside Loop Road. Follow to Elting parking lot 8A, the North Tennis courts are behind Elting Gymnasium Turf Field (Field Hockey and Lacrosse): Take South Entrance onto South Loop Road. Follow to second stop sign take left. On South Road make first right into West student parking (37a) and West parking (37) lots. The field is located directly behind the parking lot. Alumni Field (Men’s and Women’s Soccer): Take South Entrance onto South Loop Road. Follow to second stop sign take left. Take South Road all the way down passing Lenape Hall (on right) and Esopus Hall (on left). Stay on South Road until reaching South parking lot (lot 35). Once parked follow path to the back of the parking lot.
