New Tae Kwon Do
Program at Evansdale
Evansdale Community League is pleased to
announce a new Tae Kwon Do program run by Garry
Fedoretz, who has been running an excellent program
for 24 years. The program was looking for a new
home and the Evansdale facility seemed to foot the
bill nicely for the program. The program has highly
qualified instructors and offers instruction at all levels
of Tae Kwon Do. Classes run Mondays and Thursdays 6 - 7:30 cost is $350 per year which includes
uniform, manual, plus 2 Bingos per registrant plus a
community league membership. You can start anytime and come and try it for 2 weeks free. A class for
children with learning disabilities or special needs is
also available. For more information please contact:

Soccer Coach, Soccer Director
Remembering Peter Christansen
In Memory of Peter Christiansen who passed away December 9, 2007 from cancer. Peter
and his family were strong supporters of the Evansdale/Belle
Rive/Eaux Claire Community.
Many of you will remember
Peter running up and down the
sidelines as he coached our girls
soccer or will have shared in his
wonderful sense of humor at one
of the many Community League
events his family attended. Peter
will be greatly missed by all who
knew him. On behalf of the Community we offer our condolences
to his wife Linda, their daughter
Katrina and all his family. Thank
you Peter for all the great memories that will live on in our hearts.

Diversity in
Dickensfield at
Evansdale
The Dickensfield Partnership held its first ever
Diversity in Dickensfield event at Evansdale Hall
on November 23, 2007 and it was quite the event!
Amanda Woodward and Darrell Joe stole the show
with dancing and flute music while Wafaa and Majd
Alsado brought vocal and musical sounds from the
Middle East. The kids enjoyed creating their own
cultural fashion designs, multi-lingual book marks
and some even got their own henna tattoos. Photos by
David Dodge.
Belle Rive K-9 School Opening in 2010
Alberta Education has announced a new Elementary - Junior High School will be built and opened in
time for the 2010 School year.
The school is to be located in Lake District Park
at 87 Street and 164 Avenue on one of the three
designated school sites in the new district park. The
park’s soccer fields may be ready for use in Spring
2008.
The North Edmonton Parks Steering Committee
met with school board officials a couple years ago
and were assured the school site was a priority in the
Edmonton area, but we were warned that we would
not see a school for a long time. The announcement
is one of six new schools announced for Edmonton
sites under a new plan to build schools under a Private-Public-Partnership (P3). The exact nature of the
financial deals is not known at this time.
Henna Hand Art
Amanda Woodward, flutist and
dancer, is a former resident of
Dickensfield.
Evansdale Community League has been very
involved the North Edmonton Parks Steering Committee and area school issues for quite a few years.
The school announcement is a welcome surprise.
Affordable Housing
Planned for Belle Rive Park
Just after Lake District (Belle Rive) District
Park was announced, the City announced the Catholic School Site was named as one of 20 sites being
rezoned for the City’s Affordable Housing program. A
housing project is planned for the southwestern corner
of the District Park at 84th St. and 162 Ave.
The new public school is planned for the middle
section of the park along its western edge along 87th
Street at 164 Avenue.
