Evansdale Volunteer
of the Year: Coach
Steve Hanrahan
Area 17 Volunteer
of the Year: Jeff
Muiselaar
It was about 12 years ago when Stephen Hanrahan
stopped by my place and asked if my kids had ever
considered playing basketball. Since that fateful day
all of my kids have played soccer and almost all have
played basketball thanks to Coach Steve.
Stephen Hanrahan is Evansdale Community
League’s Volunteer of the Year for 2008-09. Steve
has coached soccer and basketball, he’s served as
Soccer Director, and today he’s the Boys Technical
Director of the Northeast Basketball Association.
Steve is a coach’s coach and a favorite of the kids
who line up to play for him year after year. Steve is
also a referee of soccer and basketball and no matter
what level he is coaching he brings something new to
every practice and game he participates in. Steve has
helped kids stay in sports when the odds were against
them and every single player on Steve’s team grows
every year and learns something about him or her
self. All three of Steve’s children have played basketball and Alex Hanrahan, his 21-year-old daughter
played community basketball, high school basketball
and is already coaching basketball as well.
Steve is a great volunteer and a mentor to other
volunteers, we are extremely proud to honour Stephen Hanrahan as our Evansdale Volunteer of the
Year for 2008-09
Jeff Muiselaar’s involvement with Evansdale
Community League goes back to the beginning
of time! Evansdale Community League is 30 plus
years old and Jeff was there in the beginning to get
Evansdale up and running. Jeff is Area 17’s Volunteer of the Year for 2008-09. This is the second
year in a row Area 17’s volunteer of the year has
come from Evansdale.
Jeff Muiselaar is the Past President of Evansdale Community League and he also currently
serves as our Area 17 representative and he looks
after buildings and grounds. In the winter Jeff
looks after the Evansdale rink, making ice and ensuring the facility is well-maintained.
Jeff also represents Area 17 on the Area Councils of Edmonton board. Jeff was around when
Evansdale Community League operated out of
Evansdale School. Jeff is in the printing business
and he has a small printing press – this newsletter
was printed by Jeff!
Evansdale is pleased to acknowledge Jeff
Muiselaar as the Area 17 Volunteer of the Year for
2008-09.
