AEM currently has four patents for its product designs. We pioneered the Cold

IT’S LIKE THEY KNEW WE WERE COMING

It all started on October 1st, 1987, the same day the Whittier Narrows Earthquake
rocked Southern California. AEM opened its doors as a dyno-equipped, custom
tuning and fabrication shop at 303 West Artesia Boulevard in Compton, CA, and
the industry hasn’t stopped shaking! It was a humble beginning for AEM, which
“shared” about 3,000 square feet with Redline Distribution (it was Redline’s
building), and housed its dyno in the Redline warehouse. The lobby, which was
slightly larger than a jail cell, had Bosch fuel schematics on the wall and tech
manuals on the coffee table—it was about pure performance. However, behind
the counter loomed the “Wall of Shame,” a collection of photos and cut outs that
would land us in the pokey in today’s politically correct world!
In the early 90s, AEM began developing V6 Honda engines (Legend motors) for
desert racers. The original program was for Bob Land’s Class 1 Baja car. AEM
built the engines and designed and built the headers, exhaust and intake
manifolds including the ITB set up. Lands’ original Baja car made 190 HP at
the wheels from an engine that lasted about one race when we first got it, and
left AEM putting down 260 at the wheels from an engine that would last the
entire season. Cosworth performed the engine machine work for this engine
program and this is when we began our relationship with them. In class 1600
the Toyota 4AG engine was dominant and AEM tuned about 70% of those cars.
Our affiliation with Weber and later Mikuni allowed us to work on an enormous
amount of off road vehicles. Recalls Concialdi, “At one time we had our hands
on virtually every off road and stadium truck in competition.”
It didn’t take long for AEM to build its reputation. Before long the garage was
replete with all types of high performance vehicles including Ford GTs, Shelby
Cobras, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Lotuses, Dolphin Can-Am cars, Baja rigs and
Pro stadium trucks. We even had some unusual vehicles like Chenoweth’s US
Army recon vehicle that was developed for duty in the Middle East, and a 1928
Studebaker Indy car. As company founder and Chief Engineer John Concialdi
recalls, “These were the salad days, when we didn’t have any money but were
having way more fun than should have been allowed!”
Before long the next generation of Hot Rodders started making their way to
AEM’s doors, only this time instead of Flatheads and small block Chevys, these
cars were four cylinder front-drives with high compression, snotty cams, and
nitrous or custom turbo systems. A street racer named E.T. Saffon who ended
up working at AEM until he relocated out of state in 2001 created one of AEM’s
first renowned Hondas. E.T.’s 1988 Integra had a fully-built B-series with
individual carbs and a heavy load of nitrous, and he won so many street races

In addition to working with the racers mentioned above, AEM also began tuning
more EFI vehicles, and during this period tuned engines for Cosworth, HKS,
Motec, TRD and others. AEM was truly at the ground level of the emergence of
sport compact drag racing. In addition to tuning and fabricating for many of the
street racers of the time, when Frank Choi created the Battle of the Imports in
1990 AEM signed on as the Title Sponsor and continued its support of the
series for several years until the sport compact series battles began between
BOTI, the IDRC, NIRA and the NHRA.
THE MID 90’S
OFF ROAD & RACING ROOTS
Some of the more memorable vehicles AEM worked on in the early days
included the stadium trucks, Baja rigs, Bruce Ziegler’s Ford GT, Steve Murphy’s
Cobra, a P3 Ferrari, Bob Glidden’s Pro Stock car and Chenoweth’s Middle East
recon buggy. The stadium truck development represented the early days of
AEM when the company was still the R&D department for Redline/Weber
Carburetors, and AEM tuned the carburetors on Ivan Stewart’s and Spencer
Low’s Pro Stadium trucks, Rick & Roger Mears’ Class 1 buggies, Rod and Steve
Milllens’ Stadium Trucks and Jeff Huber’s and Walker Evans’s Pro Stadium
trucks. The Chenoweth vehicle was being developed for Middle East duty and
we developed the IDF Series carb for Off Road vehicles on it. This carb later
became the IDFXE Plus and is still used today. At launch, the Chenoweth buggy
had a 24v electrical system for communications equipment and a huge
machine gun strapped to the roof for defense.
in the car that he had to take the AEM logos off his windows so people would
race him. AEM worked with many of the West Coast racers who put sport
compact drag racing on the map, including Brian “Buddha” Kim and Tony
Fuchs from Cyber Racing, Darren Ishitani, Abel Ibarra, Russ Matusevich, Adam
Saruwatari, and Stephan Papadakis. Fuchs ran an Integra with AEM-tuned
Weber carbs and nitrous, and would spend all nighters on our dyno (along with
Kim and Ishitani) squeezing every pony out of the engine. Ibarra built what we
believe to be the first PRO RWD car on the West Coast—a Mazda R100 running
a 13B Wankel with a gigantic turbo and nitrous—and AEM did the EFI
calibration. The R100 (“Flaco”) came off the trailer at a Battle of the Imports
and ran an 8.60. This car would run into the sevens before its retirement.
The Ford GT was one of the most impressive cars AEM had in the garage at that
time, despite all of the Ferraris and Lambos on the floor. This car had four AEMtuned Weber carbs on top of a 289 cid engine. John Concialdi recalls, “We took
the GT for a rip and hit 140 in no time…we’re lucky that helicopters weren’t
around then! But what I remember most about this car was its balance…it was
perfect.” Steve Murphy’s Shelby Cobra was another car that was impossible to
forget. Murphy, the VP of IMPAC, raced the Cobra in Laguna Seca Vintage class
and won his class that year. Concialdi was the crew chief for his team and tuned
the carbs. This car didn’t lose a race all season. The #12 P3 Ferrari was another
screamer. This car had a V6 motor running a triple-stack of AEM-tuned Weber
carbs down the center of the intake manifold. AEM also did a lot of carb work on
Lamborghinis because of our affiliation with Weber. The vintage traffic we saw
back in this day would represent tens of millions of dollars in vintage cars today.

Our manufacturing roots began in 1995, when Concialdi conceived the Cold
Air intake design for sport compacts. States Concialdi, “The idea came to us
when we were looking at an SAE horsepower equation. We noticed that heat
played a major role in power production, which we confirmed with our own
testing. Just lift the hood of any car after a few passes on the dyno and the
extreme heat coming out just tells you that the air in there is thin!” But it
wasn’t until testing different fitments that we realized the correct combination
of length and diameter of inlet pipe also played a major role in making power.
After several iterations, the 21-400 intake was born for 88-91 Honda CRXs. It
wasn’t long before other companies began copying this design, and in 1997
Sport Compact Car did an air intake shootout. AEM’s Cold Air blew the
competition away, and this line was off to the races.
In 1996 AEM’s Honda engine building experience led to the creation of the
TRU-TIME adjustable cam gear. Prior to its release, fully-built Honda engines
with modified heads were using highly modified stock cam gears to advance
and retard timing. “There were no indication marks on the gears and they
would break all the time,” noted Concialdi. “Esslinger had just developed an
adjustable cam gear for four-cylinder Ford engines and we approached them
about making one for Hondas and Toyotas. They weren’t interested in
making one for us, but they were an invaluable resource for us when we
developed our own line. I can’t thank them enough.” Concialdi took this
opportunity to fix all of the problems he had seen by adding precision laseretched marks, an OE belt tooth profile on the gear edge, and hard anodizing
on the outer edge.

THE SHIFT TO MANUFACTURING, NEW INNOVATIONS AND PRO COMPACT DRAG RACING
By mid-1997, demand for AEM products was so great that the company was
having difficulty managing the manufacturing, engine building and tuning ends
of the business. Keep in mind that during this period when a customer called
for an intake, the sales person would walk the order to manufacturing, which
would then make the part and ship it to the customer. With little experience in
stock flow, projections, bulk ordering, etc, the company was at a crossroads.
Looking for advice, Concialdi contacted his former boss at Redline Peter
Neuwirth. “I asked Peter how I should grow the company,” stated Concialdi.
“He and his son Greg met with me asked me a bunch of questions and by the
end of the discussion they offered to be partners in the business. This was a
huge stroke of luck because we sorely needed their business expertise.” A
couple weeks later on October 16, 1997, AEM changed ownership and
Concialdi remained as Chief Engineer. Almost overnight, AEM shifted gears and
dropped the hammer into full time manufacturing. The flurry of product
development was about to begin.
Shortly after the change of ownership, AEM released its line of TRU POWER
pulleys. “I was never comfortable with swapping crank pulleys because it
eliminates the harmonic dampener, and cars need those to reduce engine
noise, vibration and harshness,” commented Concialdi. “While that’s not a big
deal on a race engine, many of the racers at the time also drove their cars on
the street, and we didn’t want to be shaking their engines down. I knew we
could net the same results by under-driving the accessories, so we developed
pulleys for alternators, power steering systems and water pumps.”
Staying true to its racing roots, AEM stayed involved in sport compact drag racing
by working with top racers like Abel Ibarra, Adam Saruwatari, Ed Bergenholtz and
of course Stephan Papadakis. In 1999, Papadakis introduced a tube-frame frontdrive Honda Civic hatchback at Battle of the Imports, and not long after AEM
became the title sponsor of the car. The car was built by Papadakis and Shaun
Carlson of NuFormz (currently racing Pro Stock in the NHRA PowerAde Series),
and was the first of its kind in the United States. Although Concialdi had worked
on Papadakis’s car when it was a unibody, this sponsorship marked the
beginning of a prosperous relationship between AEM and Papadakis Racing, as
AEM grew its product line and Papadakis went on to dominate sport compact
drag racing by setting records that were not only thought unattainable in frontdrive cars, but took his competition two years to eclipse once he moved on to
Pro RWD competition. Papadakis was SEMA’s Import Racer of the Year in 1999.
In 2002, on the heels of an ad campaign that had the industry buzzing with
rumors over what the company was up to, AEM returned to its tuning roots
with the introduction of its Plug & Play Programmable Engine Management
System. The goal was to create a stand-alone engine management program
that racers at any level would find attainable. At its launch, most comparable
stand-alone systems cost two to three times as much and did not include all
of the enabled features included in the AEM EMS. Much of the 2002 racing
season was spent developing the Pro RWD Civic, an 1,800 HP, twin
turbocharged, NSX-powered beast that debuted in 2003. In addition to the new
drag car, the team was brought in house and Papadakis remained as driver,
and eventually took over crew chief duty to manage the entire program.
2003 marked the introduction of AEM’s V2 intake and our BRUTE FORCE intake
line for trucks and SUVs, and saw the new drag car begin to pile up records in
NHRA Sport Compact’s Pro RWD class. The Drag Civic became the fifth car to
join the NHRA’s Sport Compact 200 MPH Club, was the first drag Honda to
break 200 MPH, and was the first Honda to eclipse the seven- and six-second
E.T. barriers with a best of 6.90 @ 207.8 MPH.
In 2004, AEM dramatically expanded its electronics program by adding ignition
modules, UEGO controllers, a full sensor program, and factory training
seminars for tuning shops (that are still held today), and became the first
company to offer Hybrid intakes which are direct-fit intakes for Hondas with
engine swaps. The Drag Civic came into its own after a crash in testing before
the season. Although the car missed the first three NHRA events, Papadakis
went on to pilot it to the number one qualifying spot in six of its next seven
events, made 11 final round appearances with six victories, set the national
Elapsed Time record in NHRA three times culminating in a 6.54 @ 211.73
MPH, and finished the season as runner-up in NHRA Pro RWD.
As the industry evolved, AEM diversified with it. The company was looking to
expand its engine breathing product line to include headers and exhaust
systems but was reluctant to begin development from ground zero.
Fortunately, during a conversation between Concialdi and DC Sports co-founder

Darrell Contreras in late 2004, Concialdi casually inquired whether DC Sports
was open to a merger, and to Concialdi’s surprise, Contreras said to make him
an offer. Those who have followed the growth of the SpoCom industry know
that DC Sports is the brand of choice for headers and exhausts, and the chance
to combine these two companies meant the ability to deliver the best engine
breathing products from air filter to exhaust tip.
In 2005, AEM acquired the business of DC Sports and since has expanded the
brand to include more manufacturers while adding turbo performance
products to its cache. AEM Racing finished fourth in NHRA Pro RWD
competition and retained the World’s Quickest Honda title with a personal best
of 6.52 @ 215 MPH, and campaigned its first Drift car, which Papadakis also
drove. Like the Pro RWD Civic, the AEM Drift Honda S2000 was built in house
at AEM using off the shelf parts. In a breakout season, Papadakis qualified in
five of the seven events he entered and had a best Finish in the “Great 8” in
Chicago while notching Co-Rookie of the Year Honors in the FormulaD Drift
series and earning a coveted D1 GP driver’s license.
Two thousand and six marked another year of revolutionary product
development for AEM with the introduction of the DRYFLOW air filter—the first
aftermarket air filter that does not require filter oil to trap dirt and filters at an
average of 99.4% efficiency, and the release of its Universal Programmable
Engine Management System for all vehicles. With an uncertain future
surrounding the Pro classes in sport compact drag racing, AEM Racing retired
the Pro RWD drag car and elected to campaign a two-car drift team. Along with
Papadakis’s S2000, we added a Drift 350Z to the stable and hired top-five
driver Tanner Foust to pilot it. Foust is currently in third place in FormulaD
behind the GM and Mopar factory-backed teams. Also, after setting two
Bonneville Land Speed records in the 1.5L and 1.8L engine class in 2004, the
AEM Bonneville Civic, under the control of Lead Electronics Engineer John
Romero, continued to set records in the 1.5L blown engine class with a 195
MPH official top speed.

THE LATE 90’S
The turn of the century marked a major shift in AEM product development,
as the company expanded its hard parts to include fuel delivery components,
developed the Air Bypass Valve for its Cold Air intake systems and was
beginning development on its Plug & Play programmable engine management
system. Once again, our work with racers led to the development of fuel
delivery parts. At any given race, there were hundreds of high horsepower cars
in the pits trying to force large amounts of fuel through factory components
that were incapable of supplying the volume of fuel needed. Noted Concialdi,
“The problem was obvious at the track, and we jumped on the opportunity to
make parts that would eliminate the fuel delivery issues that were hindering
the advancement of these cars’ elapsed times.” The air bypass valve was
another product that was met with great enthusiasm from the tuning

community because it allows users to keep a full cold air system installed
without worrying about hydro-locking the engine if the filter became
submerged in water. By the end of 2001, AEM earned U.S. patents for its
adjustable fuel pressure regulator design and air bypass valve.
On the racing side, Papadakis was the 2000 NIRA Pro Comp Champion, IDRC
Outlaw Class runner up and was named Turbo Magazine’s Outlaw racer of the
Year after eclipsing the nine- and eight-second barriers with trap speeds in
excess of 150 and 160 MPH. In 2001 Papadakis was the NIRA Pro FWD
champion and IDRC Outlaw class Champion after introducing the Drag Civic
coupe, which drove deep into the eights and eclipsed the 170 and 180 MPH
barriers using mostly off-the-shelf and some custom AEM products.

industry, but to creating innovative products that improve vehicle
performance and reliability. Over 20 years, we’ve acquired several patents
for product design, set multiple records in drag, land speed and off road
racing, and our cars and sponsored drivers have won numerous events in

Drifting originated in Japan and is considered by many who have competed
in the sport as the ultimate exhibition of vehicle set up and driver skill. Briefly
described, Drifting is maintaining a slide at a high rate of speed and
transitioning through a course while maintaining the slide, clipping apexes
along the way. Competition is done in tandem, often with competitors sliding
through the course about a foot away from one another. Drifting is judged on
technical merits such as approach angle and entry speed, and subjective
merits such as style and crowd response. Since its formal introduction in the
U.S. in 2001, it has taken the industry by storm.
In addition to our drag racing, road racing, rallying, off road and land-speed
sponsorships, AEM Racing’s in-house Drift team provides us with an
opportunity to test our products in one of the harshest Motorsports
environments. These high-horsepower, high-boost racecars live in the upper
RPM range and are tossed violently into turns and transitions that would yank
out the underpinnings of normal cars. If our products can withstand the abuse
seen on the track, we are confident that they will perform on your vehicle.
Legendary SpoCom drag racer Stephan Papadakis pilots the Drift S2000 and is
AEM Racing’s Crew Chief, overseeing development of both Drift cars and all team
logistics. The 2005 FormulaD Drift Series Co-Rookie of the Year has had a great
season, qualifying in three of the five events entered to date, while also managing
team operations and developing the Drift 350Z that is driven by Tanner Foust.
AEM Racing driver Tanner Foust has had a banner year to date, and at the
time of this writing is 3rd overall in the FormulaD Drift Series (80 points
out of first) and is second overall in FormulaD’s Triple Crown Series (13
points out of first). Foust has qualified and finished in the top 10 in every
event he has entered, and won the FormulaD event in Atlanta. He logged
the fastest entry speed at the D1 exhibition in Las Vegas (108 MPH), and
the fastest lap at the FormulaD event in Seattle (81 MPH)).

EMS PRO TUNER SOFTWARE
AEM has created new DRYFLOW air filter designs to fit popular competitor
intake systems, including 14” round filters for carbureted and
Motorsports vehicles. DRYFLOW air filters have an overall efficiency of
99.4% and do not require oil to trap dirt, which eliminates the chance of
over oiling the filter and damaging the MAF sensor. See pages 14-15 for
more information and a cross-reference chart.
Pro Tuner features a simplified, more intuitive interface and more logical layout of
menus. Users can create and edit custom toolbars and create Hot Keys to assign any
function to almost any key combination. It replaces the AEMPro’s old menu structure
with easy-to-use Windows Explorer style navigation. Pro Tuner software works with
version 1.19 Firmware only. See page 53 for more information.
REDESIGNED AEM WEBSITE
AEM has redesigned its website! Now users can navigate through
all brands from one main site, making searching for products
easier than ever. New features include a redesigned search
function that shows all AEM and/or DC Sports products for a
specific application with product images, dynos and product
instructions in the search results page, a “Buy Now” button to

Our TRU BOOST Gauge-Type Controller combines the simplicity of a manual
boost controller with a gauge interface for ease of use. This controller does not
require a PC for programming and includes an on-board 29 PSIG boost sensor.

AEM FUEL/IGNITION CONTROLLER (FIC)
The AEM FIC is an economical solution for controlling fuel and ignition on vehicles that do
not require stand-alone engine management, including variable cam timing engines like
VTEC, VVTi and MiVEC. It gives users with OBDII vehicles and non-factory forced induction
systems the ability to retard ignition and deliver accurate amounts of fuel without the need
for outdated FMUs or “boost hiding” controllers. The FIC works in line with the factory ECU
and will not cause a check engine light (CEL). See page 60 for more information.

At AEM, our mechanical engineers emphasize tuning the resonance
properties of the inlet pipe to help carry more air to the intake valves. We
route our plumbing so that the filter draws air from the safest and coolest
location, and provide a steel powdercoated heat shield to shroud the filter
from engine heat and road dirt. BRUTE FORCE intakes are submitted to
C.A.R.B. for 50-state exemption (excluding Off Road systems), and
we guarantee them for life (excluding Off Road systems).
AEM Workhorse heavy-duty intakes improve power and increase engine airflow on
Diesel trucks and SUVs. This helps Diesel engines efficiently burn fuel to reduce exhaust
smoke and oil contaminants caused by unburned fuel.
Our Workhorse intakes flow up to 33% more than factory intake systems to eliminate
restriction and accommodate additional modifications. Our DRYFLOW filter for

SHORT RAM INDUCTION SYSTEM
A Cold Air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver the coolest air inlet
temperatures possible. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match
the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders, and no company on the market can tune an inlet as well
as we can. We also monitor fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during R&D to eliminate leaning the engine
out and/or throwing a check engine light.
UNBEATABLE UNDER THE HOOD
AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air
systems, install easily under the hood, and deliver the best performance, value
and ease of installation than any other short inlet intake.
Our Cold Air systems are dyno-proven against the competition to create more useable power
than any other system of their kind. Every AEM Cold Air induction system features
the highest standards of construction and we guarantee them for the life of
your vehicle. All AEM Cold Air systems are either 50-state legal or pending
(excluding "Off Road" and "Hybrid" systems), include a lifetime DRYFLOW
Synthetic air filter and come with a limited lifetime warranty.
During the development process, we found certain applications respond
favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these
applications (denoted in application guide), we offer a Short Ram system only.
We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest
area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to
achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible.

WATERPROOF YOUR COLD AIR SYSTEM
AEM’s patented Air Bypass Valve virtually eliminates the chance of
hydro-lock in the event the filter of your AEM Cold Air induction system
becomes submerged in water. On most systems, the valve installs along
the upper portion of the inlet pipe and shuts down induction at the filter
when it becomes submerged, rerouting air through its external
diaphragm to keep water out and air flowing in. Check with your dealer
or call AEM for more information on air bypass valve installation
locations. The AEM Air Bypass Valve is C.A.R.B. exempt
on AEM Cold Air induction systems only and is NOT
for use on forced induction vehicles.

COLD AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
DYNO TESTING
AEM has established consistent dyno procedures that deliver results. We do our testing the same way every time, so that when you do your own
test you will get the same results. Our Mustang dynamometer uses a real-time data acquisition program for ambient temperature, barometric
pressure and relative humidity, eliminating the chance of wrong correction factors being applied to dyno results. Our dyno room is climate
controlled for consistency and so that we can perform both “hot” and “cold” testing. In addition to our testing procedures (published in detail on
aempower.com), we only publish results for vehicles with engines that have exceeded the manufacturer break-in period.

V2 & HYBRID INDUCTION SYSTEMS
THE MOST POWERFUL AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM AVAILABLE
AEM’s V2 intake systems use a patented dual chamber design to produce the most
power and torque of any other intake system available—even our own Cold Air systems.
On a dyno graph, the area under the power band (or power curve) represents the amount
of effort that an engine is producing. The larger the overall area under the curve, the more
power your engine is making. The AEM V2 utilizes a dual chamber (using two different
diameters and lengths of piping) that creates multiple frequency sound waves to produce
the largest area under the curve of any intake system on the market.

We have found that inlet length plays a vital role in the power production of V2 systems
and not all V2 induction systems relocate the filter outside of the engine compartment.
In these cases, we performed extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the
coolest area of the engine compartment to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures

So you’ve swapped an H22 into your EG Civic…now what do you do about getting
an intake that fits? Do you order one for the chassis, or for the engine? Will a
chassis system fit, or will it sacrifice performance, or both? Relax, we’ve done
the R&D for you!
AEM Hybrid intakes are direct-fit intakes for Hondas and Acuras with engine
swaps, and eliminate the need to buy a system that doesn’t fit and have
to cut it up, which voids the warranty. Hybrid intakes install using
standard tools with no additional modifications. We designed
our Hybrid intakes for high-output engines with internal engine
modifications like cams and porting, and manufacture them using
three-inch mandrel bent aircraft aluminum for maximum flow. Since
we design our Hybrid intakes for cars with engine swaps, they are
intended for off road use only
and are not 50-state legal.

Once AEM designs a prototype intake system, there are several tools used to ensure that the same design that fit perfectly during development
makes it into an AEM Induction System box. One of these tools creates a digital blueprint of the prototype that allows us to electronically

BORED BIG FOR HIGH VOLUME DELIVERY
AEM High Volume fuel rails feature a 1/2-inch fuel bore to support fuel flow for
applications up to 1,000 horsepower. This large bore also dampens backpressure pulses
created by larger injectors and works perfectly with stock injector sizes. An additional
1/8th NPT port is included to accommodate a nitrous set up or fuel pressure gauge. A
custom fuel line fitting is included for the factory fuel line, and the ends of each rail are pre
tapped to accept -6 AN or 9/16”x18 fittings for users who want to use custom fuel lines.

AEM's Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulators are capable of supporting enough fuel flow for
engines up to 1000 horsepower. Our patented interchangeable discharge ports enable the
regulator's output to match the output of any fuel pump. Our universal fuel pressure
regulator is tapped to accept a -6 AN, or 9/16”x18 fittings and includes a 1/8 NPT port for
a fuel pressure gauge or pressure sensor pick up. AEM has direct-fit regulators for
Honda/Acura applications, and a universal regulator for virtually any vehicle.

horsepower. Double O-ring seals deliver superior leak protection and the filter’s 6061

milled, forced induction, high compression and/or utilizing aftermarket
competition cams. Our gears enable users to match cam timing with their

DC Sports header systems are dyno tested to outperform all comparable header systems on the
market. Extensive research and development goes into each system to ensure the best performance
for your vehicle.
In 1987, American Honda commissioned DC Sports to develop a header for SCCAprepped CRXs. What culminated was our first 4-into-1 header design, and it was
so well received that Honda requested headers for other applications. That
system (HHC5002) is the one that stared it all.
We precision-bend our headers on our CNC mandrel benders, using data acquired from our non-contact
digitizing scanner. Our flanges are CNC machined, we machine-grind the flange mating surface to
ensure a leak-free seal and use a robotic welder to attach the flange to the header pipes. Our state-of-theart manufacturing process ensures superior quality and a perfect fit with every header system we make.

DC Sports headers are available in 100% T-304-stainless steel, and in mild steel with a proprietary
temperature- and corrosion-resistant ceramic coating. We thermally degrease and sandblast our
mild-steel headers to prepare the surface for coating adhesion, and hand-paint them to ensure an
even application. After verifying the proper thickness of the coating, the header is cured for proper
bonding of the ceramic coating and then fine-blasted for a high-luster finish.
DC Sports has three 50-state legal header designs: A race-inspired 4-into-1 design that optimizes
mid- to top-end power, a lightweight, one-piece 4-2-1 design that provides maximum ground
clearance and emphasizes low- to mid-range power for street/drag applications, and a two-piece
4-2-1 design for easy installation and unmatched low- to mid-range power. Our “Race-Only”
headers come in 4-into-1 and 4-2-1 designs, and our turbo manifolds and competition pipes for
O.E.-equipped turbocharged vehicles are 100% stainless steel. Please refer to the application

DC Sports Competition Pipes delete the catalytic converter to eliminate
restriction in the exhaust path and are dyno tuned to deliver incredible
performance gains for your factory turbocharged vehicle.
Because of the high temperature demands of turbo applications, we use
special manufacturing techniques to virtually eliminate the chance of
failure, including preparing the plasma cut materials for welding, using a
slower weld process and thicker rod for deeper weld penetration and
purging the inner tube sections with Argon gas to strengthen
the backside of the welds.

V6 Applications..
Due to certain fitment requirements and routing specifications, DC
Sports manufactures a single canister, dual tip exhaust system for the
Nissan 350Z, Acura NSX and other select applications. Like all our
engine breathing products, DC Sports exhaust systems are dyno tuned
and tested to outperform all comparable systems on the market. Our
Single Canister, dual tip systems feature a large, transverse-mounted
polished oval canister with dual straight-cut, four-inch tips with rolled
DC Sports logos so there is no mistaking whether you have the best
exhaust on the market.
DC Sports’ race-inspired Dual Canister systems are available for V6 and
select four-cylinder applications. Our Dual Canister systems feature twin

AEM is proud to introduce its ProTuner software for its programmable engine
management systems! ProTuner software works with version 1.19 Firmware and later.
AEM's Plug & Play Engine Management System (EMS) plugs directly into a
vehicle's factory ECU harness and requires no additional wiring or hardware.
Windows™ compatible software (2000, XP, NT, 98, 95, ME) makes the task of
copying, viewing and manipulating data as simple as a click of the mouse. An
integrated tuning wizard allows users to create a base map specifically for a
car’s configuration, regardless of what type of injectors, sensors, coils or other
changes have been made. The AEM EMS's infinitely adjustable software allows
tuners to program virtually any combination of engine control, power adders
and auxiliary devices, and accurately delivers proper amounts of fuel and
correct ignition timing for any boost level or operating condition.
ProTuner is the next generation of EMS interfacing software. From its inception,
ProTuner has been designed to be more user friendly, intuitive, and simpler to use.
It was created with the belief that attention to detail is what differentiates a good
program from a great one. The realization that an overwhelming majority of our
users are tuning on laptops with small monitors has lead to several features to help
them tune under this unique user environment. These include having the ability to
hide all “convenience” features, such as toolbars, title-bars and status-bars to
maximize screen real estate and the ability for the user to define Hotkeys for any task
that can be done in ProTuner. In addition the backgrounds of all 2D and 3D Tables are
set to a color spectrum that indicates how high or low the given cell’s value is.
We have also added features that will make your tuning sessions more efficient.
ProTuner replaces AEMPro’s old menu structure with an easy-to-use Windows
Explorer style navigation, which eliminates the time-consuming need to pull menus
down over and over again. It also allows users to quickly and easily switch between
Excel-style “Tabs” that act as templates to store Calibration Windows, allowing
users to set up their environment once, and switch between these “Sheets” for
their various tuning needs.
The help system in ProTuner is another area where we concentrated much of our
energy on. Our new context-sensitive help is much easier to use, integrated into the
tuning environment, and provides information about how a given option
or table is used in the context of the larger function it serves. This
“Collective Explanation” uses the real values from your loaded
Calibration to demonstrate how the ECU makes its calculations. The new
Calibration Wizard provides one place to go anytime something changes
with your vehicle, be it a sensor, ignition system, or injector. Simply
answer the Wizard’s questions which to inform it of what has changed
in your car’s setup and it will intelligently update your Calibration for
you. Finally, a new, integrated program guide provides tuning help from
inside the software, eliminating the need to switch back and forth
between programs.

GET RACE READY–AEM’S UNIVERSAL PROGRAMMABLE
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
AEM’s Universal Programmable Engine Management System adapts
to any vehicle using our flying lead wiring harness and sensors (sold
separately). In addition to the features found in our Plug & Play
EMS, AEM’s Universal EMS also includes 10 independent, built-in
peak & hold injector driver channels, direct drive ignition and dual
wideband UEGO controllers. Peak & Hold injector drivers enable
users to utilize low impedance injectors with a true 4/1 Peak & Hold
injector drive circuit. The Direct Drive ignition feature allows users to
drive a coil directly from the ECU without the need for an igniter or ignition
module, and a wideband UEGO controller is an essential tuning tool that
provides a 0-5 signal for monitoring and tuning air/fuel ratios (AFR) on
heavily modified high-performance engines.

MONITOR 19 CHANNELS USING ONE GAUGE!
AEM’s Serial Gauge plugs into the company’s Programmable EMS and has the ability to
read 19 channels simultaneously to provide reference for all outputs, including boost,
AFR, EGT, H2O, IAT, knock, volts, RPM, vehicle speed, and more! Since it can read
all channels at once, AEM’s Serial Gauge eliminates the need to buy a cluster of
gauges, or you can link multiple Serial Gauges together to monitor additional
channels or to divide your readouts across a few gauges.
The Serial Gauge includes a user-selectable LED display allowing users to set
vehicle specific limits, warnings, display ranges and operating ranges. This unit
runs the standard EMS datastream by default, and includes 12 preset channels
and seven user-selectable channels that are custom-configurable through the
PC interface, allowing you to monitor practically anything attached to a sensor.
AEM’s Serial Gauge includes user-programmable MIN/MAX storage for EVERY
channel and records MIN/MAX values even if you are not using the function—if it’s
in the stream the gauge records it. Red, yellow and green LEDs and the center threedigit display are fully user-programmable, making this a truly custom configurable
unit.
Users can set alarms for each channel so that when the signal exceeds a value the Gauge

notifies you by flashing all LEDs and switching to the channel where that triggered the alarm. Userselectable qualifiers eliminate false warning lights, and the unit includes two outputs to trigger ancillary
warning lights based on user selectable conditions. The Serial Gauge also includes user-selectable alarm priority in the event multiple alarms
sound, allowing you to set alarm readouts in your order of priority.
AEM’s Serial Gauge includes interchangeable silver and black bezels and pin guides, and black and white faces for a customizable look. QuickConnect technology allows you to install the gauge and connect the wiring separately for easy installation and less chance of damage to the
circuit board. The Serial Gauge includes a harness, wiring to connect to the EMS, a daisy-chain adapter for linking multiple gauges to one EMS
and software for a trouble-free installation.

MASTER WIRING HARNESS
AEM’s high-quality, color-coded master wiring harnesses include everything
you need to properly wire your racecar in one easy-to-follow configuration
(sold separately). We silk-screen each individual wire function onto the body
of the wire to ease the installation process and reduce any chance of
misidentifying a wire during set-up.
AEM’s 72” master wiring harness includes built-in fuses and relays
for fans, pumps, auxiliary power, and more. AEM also has a 24”
wiring harness for adapting our Universal EMS system to an
existing wiring harness, and harness mating connector kit with
104 contacts.

ELECTRONICS TEST BENCH:
The AEM Electronics Test Bench has the capability of testing both fuel components and ignition components. AEM’s resident
injector guru Jeremy Negen uses the EMS test bench to determine battery offsets of OEM and popular aftermarket injectors.
This data is continuously added to the EMS injector library, which currently includes over 50 different injectors.

THE FIRST EASY-TO-USE ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER
AEM’s TRU-BOOST Gauge-Type Controller is an electronic boost controller that combines the simplicity of
a manual boost controller with the added ease of adjusting boost levels through a gauge interface.
There is no external interface required for set up, and it is fully functional right out of the box. There
are no gimmicks or special software programs included. If you want more boost press the button on
the right of the gauge face, and if you want less boost press the button on the left of the gauge
face. It’s that simple, and IT WORKS!
AEM’s TRU-BOOST Gauge-Type Controller includes everything you need, including an on-board 29
psig pressure sensor, built-in Overboost protection with two timed shutdown levels, a scramble
boost setting and a low-side output for a warning light. AEM offers a 75 psia boost sensor for high
boost applications (sold separately).
AEM’s boost control solenoid (included) is the only one specifically manufactured for automotive boost
applications, which means it won’t corrode and stick from exposure to rich fuel mixtures, it is pressure
tested to 100 psi and includes -4 AN fittings to eliminate any chance of leaks.
AEM's Wideband UEGO Controller module is available in single- and dual-channel
models for everything from four-cylinders to V10s, and is the most affordable
UEGO sensor controller available. This unit has a very low current draw, and
features both 0-5v calibrated output and 0-1v calibrated output to mimic the
factory narrow band sensor. This unit works with virtually any stand-alone
engine management system.

A wideband UEGO sensor controller accurately monitors Air/Fuel ratios (AFR) during the tuning
process to prevent a lean fuel mixture, which could lead to engine damage. AEM has combined

The AEM/DriverFX.com Civic uses an off-the-shelf AEM Twin-Channel Wideband UEGO Controller (Part # 30-2300) to monitor
and control AFR. AEM Racing does this by utilizing the unit’s 5v output signal for feedback control to the AEM EMS, although
AEM’s UEGO sensor controllers work with almost any stand-alone engine management system. That said, we highly
recommend our EMS.

TWIN-FIRE CAPACITIVE DISCHARGE IGNITION MODULES
AFFORDABLE FUEL AND IGNITION CONTROL DESIGNED FOR LATE MODEL CARS
AEM’s Twin Fire ignition is the lightest (1.5lbs), smallest (5.5” x 4.625”
x1.375”) and most affordable ignition module on the market. The Twin-Fire
is available in four- and eight-channel configurations, works with O.E.M.
coil-on-plug and distributed spark systems, and is ideal for applications that
utilize aftermarket stand-alone engine management systems.
AEM’s FIC is the perfect solution for eliminating outdated FMU’s and “boost hiding” electronics and is
ideal for newer cars with knock detection that have non-factory forced induction systems. The FIC is
PC programmable and allows users to retard timing and add fuel to virtually any engine, even on
variable cam timing engines (VTEC, iVTEC, VVTi, MiVEC, etc.). Since the FIC modifies the factory timing
patterns it is not necessary to know them in advance. The FIC can also recalibrate sensors so users
can add a MAP sensor for boost without affecting the signal to the ECU.
The FIC uses a vehicle’s factory base map to create calibrations, so drivability and cold
start are not affected. Since it is a trim device it will not affect the factory ECU
and does not throw a “check engine” light because it allows the user
to intercept the cam and crank inputs and modify them.
Additional injector drivers allow users to control up to
six additional injectors for high-horsepower vehicles.
Our Twin Fire ignition module is the only capacitive discharge ignition
system available with independently-firing dual capacitors, enabling it to
produce more spark energy and voltage per spark than any other available
capacitive discharge ignition. AEM’s exclusive Twin-Cap technology stores
the energy for two distinct spark events and allows for full energy for each
individual plug.
The Twin Fire ignition produces 189mJ spark energy per capacitor, with
540v primary/54,000v secondary voltage energy, and has a Multi-Strike
capability of up to ten sparks per ignition trigger. Full spark energy can be
achieved with battery voltage as low as 9v, and each unit includes a
tachometer output. The Twin Fire ignition is patent pending.
Critical safety features include robust circuitry with a hardened electrical
design for unmatched fault tolerance, excellent EMI “noise” resistance, and
an over-temperature auto shutdown feature that virtually eliminates failure.

AEM’s external Peak & Hold Injector Driver module allows ECU’s that have a
saturated injector drive circuit to trigger low impedance injectors with a true 4/1
Peak & Hold injector drive circuit.

4-CHANNEL K-TYPE THERMOCOUPLE AMPLIFIER
AEM’s 4-Channel K-Type Thermocouple Amplifier provides laboratory-grade accuracy for
virtually any on-board temperature measurements. This unit utilizes low-cost K-Type
thermocouple amplifiers to measure multiple engine system temperatures with better
accuracy and faster response times than currently available temperature-measuring devices.
Unlike common single-channel gauges and amplifiers whose readings can vary up to 20Degrees C from actual temperatures, AEM guarantees its 4-Channel K-Type Thermocouple
Amplifier to read better than 1% full scale, even at the extremes of the temperature range!
The unit achieves its laboratory-grade accuracy via a 100% surface-mounted printed circuit
board that has four differential temperature inputs fed into an A/D converter and fitted using a
stage-three, eighth-order polynomial curve fit. The amplifier then compensates for this value
using AEM’s on-board cold junction temperature measurement, and then sends the temperature
outputs on feedback-monitored 0-5v analog outputs and an RS-232 serial data stream.
The 4-Channel K-Type Thermocouple Amplifier is ideal for users who want to accurately monitor
multiple engine system temperatures, including water, air, coolant, fuel, disc brake and more.
Multiple channels allow you to use each amp to simultaneously read different system temperatures
(one channel for EGT, one channel for CLT, etc.). Users can utilize ANY K-Type thermocouple including
commonly-available miniature thermocouple connectors, and datalog the readings via an RS-232 serial
data stream. K-Type sensors sold separately.
WIDEBAND UEGO GAUGE DISPLAY
AEM’s UEGO Display Gauge allows owners of AEM Wideband UEGO Controllers 30-2300 or 30-2301 to monitor Air/Fuel ratios (AFR) in real time without
the use of a laptop. This gauge includes a 0-5 Volt analog output to interface with most data-loggers or aftermarket engine management systems, and
includes an RS 232 serial data output port for data logging without an engine management system. AEM’s UEGO
Display Gauge is calibrated to work with AEM UEGO sensor controllers ONLY. These units display to 0.1 AFR,
feature 24 color-coded LED display lights for immediate reference to engine AFR, and have an integrated

AEM’s Peak & Hold Injector Driver contains 10 independent injector drive
channels. Each channel supplies full battery voltage to a fuel injector for rapid
current rise, in order to produce positive injector opening. When load current
reaches 4.1A (amps), the injector driver reduces the load current to 1.1A and
operates as a constant current source. This condition holds the injector open,
and reduces system power dissipation. If the current fails to reach 4.1A within
5mS, the driver module automatically reduces the load current to 1.1A.

Please note that before we can issue a Returned Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) for
AEM Electronics products, it is first necessary for the installer or end user to contact our
Electronics tech line at 1-800-423-0046 to discuss the problem. Most issues can be solved
over the phone. Under no circumstances should a system be returned or RMA requested before
the above process transpires.
Advanced Engine Management Inc. warrants to the consumer that all AEM High Performance
products will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of twelve (12)
months from date of the original purchase. Products that fail within this 12 month warranty
period will be repaired or replaced at AEM’s option, when determined by AEM that the product
failed due to defects in material or workmanship. This warranty is limited to the repair or
replacement of the AEM part. In no event shall this warranty exceed the original purchase price
of the AEM part nor shall AEM be responsible for special, incidental or consequential damages
or cost incurred due to the failure of this product. Warranty claims to AEM must be
transportation prepaid and accompanied with dated proof of purchase. This warranty applies
only to the original purchaser of product and is non-transferable. All implied warranties shall be
limited in duration to the said 12 month warranty period. Improper use or installation, use for
racing, accident, abuse, unauthorized repairs or alterations voids this warranty. AEM disclaims
any liability for consequential damages due to breach of any written or implied warranty on all
products manufactured by AEM. Warranty returns will only be accepted by AEM when
accompanied by a valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Credit for defective
products will be issued pending inspection. Product must be received by AEM within 30 days of
the date RMA is issued.
AEM warrants that its intake systems will last for the life of your vehicle. AEM will not honor this
warranty due to mechanical damage (i.e. improper installation or fitment), damage from misuse,
accidents or flying debris. AEM will not warrant its powdercoating if the finish has been cleaned
with a hydrocarbon-based solvent. The powdercoating should only be cleaned with a mild soap
and water solution. Proof of purchase of both the vehicle and AEM intake system is required for
redemption of a warranty claim.
This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the AEM part. In no event shall this
