CUSTOM SERVICES
BAG MAKERS offers complete custom design services to meet all of
your marketing needs. Our Design Centre team is available to work
with you on product design, production schedules, large quantities,
art requirements, pricing, and more.
PLATE CHARGES
Unless otherwise noted on catalog pages, spot-color plate charges
are based on overall imprint area at a base charge of $1.80 (G) per
square inch, with a minimum plate charge of $60.00 (G) per color per
side. Process-color art, halftones, or art with fine screens are subject
to review for plate charges. A plate is needed for each color and each
side being printed.
PRODUCTION
Production schedules vary based on seasonal demands and are
scheduled upon final proof approval. Please call for our fastest
delivery time.
RUSH ORDERS
Rush production schedules may be available and must be pre-approved.
Please contact us for details.
OVER/UNDER RUNS
Percentages may vary on certain products. Due to production
parameters on most plastic bag orders, we anticipate over or under
runs not to exceed 25% on quantities of 5–9M, 20% on 10–24M,
15% on 25–49M, and 10% on 50–100M. All over run quantities are
subject to invoicing.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be in writing and are subject to all incurred costs,
including set-up, plate, and art charges.
PROOFS
Paper proofs, either faxed or e-mailed, are provided at no charge.
Virtual proofs are available on select products. Due to printing
dynamics, pre-production or color proofs are not available on all
products. Call for details.
ART CHARGES
Should we be required to adjust your artwork to be compatible with
our printing processes, art charges may apply. We will provide a price
quote prior to any art services being performed.
ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS—DESIGN CENTRE
GENERAL INFORMATION
We accept a variety of digital art formats for either spot or 4-color
process designs. Please see page 102 for a complete list. If you have
questions about your art, we’ll be happy to review it for imprinting
compatibility on our products. All artwork must be pre-approved for
final production. Please include a hard copy printout, or PDF proof, with
colors indicated. Should we be required to adjust your artwork to be
compatible with our printing capabilities, art charges may apply. You
will be provided a price quote prior to any art services being performed.
ELECTRONIC PLATFORM
We are Macintosh OS X based. PC files must have fonts converted
to curves, paths, or outlines, and be saved or exported to a Mac
compatible format.
ART PLACEMENT AND SIZING
Please create your art to the size it will be printed. We can help you get
started by providing a product template that will aid you with design
and layout. All art is placed and sized proportionately per bag
blueprints as specified on the purchase order.

UNACCEPTABLE PROGRAMS and FORMATS
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, any Office programs
from other vendors, website images, faxes, copies of faxes,
photocopies, film negatives or positives, slides, low-resolution (less
than 600 ppi) laser printed artwork, letterhead, business cards,
napkins, actual imprinted or embroidered products.
PREPARING YOUR ART
For artwork using multiple spot-colors, please allow for approximate
press movement between colors as follows:
Plastic bags: 0.0625" (1/16 inch)
Paper bags: 0.125" (1/8 inch)
All art is placed and sized proportionately per bag blueprints and as
specified on the purchase order.
VECTOR ART
Vector images can be resized without any loss of quality. If we need to
change the size of your artwork, it will not become blurry or pixelated.
Please note that placing or importing photographs, bitmap, or raster
images into a drawing program does not convert them into vector
artwork. If a placed/imported Photoshop-type image (EPS,TIFF, JPEG, or
PSD) is necessary, the original file should be included, 300 ppi minimum,
and pre-approved by BAG MAKERS.

HIGHER RESOLUTION IS ALWAYS BETTER

We recommend raster images be created at a 300 ppi minimum and to
the largest size they will be printed. The resolution at which they are
created determines their quality. Photographs, or any artwork created in
programs such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photo-Paint, are raster (or
bitmap) images. Enlarging raster or bitmap images will degrade their
print quality to a possibly unacceptable condition.
FONTS
MINIMUM SIZES
Positive prints: 10-point fonts and 1-point lines.
Reverse prints: Varies by design and bag material. We need to
review fonts and line widths for best results. Plan to use larger
point sizes than those used in positive prints. Thin serif font styles
are not recommended.
PLEASE CONVERT YOUR FONTS to outlines/paths/curves within your
program. If we do not have the exact font used, the text in your art
will "default" to a different font, changing the look of your design.
Converting your fonts to outlines, paths, or curves eliminates this hazard
by changing your fonts into vector shapes. This ensures your artwork
will print and look exactly as designed.
If you choose not to convert your fonts to outlines, please send us the
font you used. Please send only Macintosh compatible or Open-Type fonts.
HALFTONES
For best results, artwork containing halftones must be reviewed by
us for approval. Halftones are printed with a 45-55 line screen. Color
percentages for art containing halftones should not be less than 20%
or greater than 60%. Areas less than 20% may not print and areas greater
than 60% may fill-in and become a solid color. Designs that contain
gradients or blends may need factory pre-press alterations for optimum
print quality and will require a final, signed proof approval.
PANTONE® GUIDE BOOKS–CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOR
Pantone PLUS Formula Guide–Solid Uncoated—For choosing solid
spot colors for uncoated paper bags.
Pantone PLUS Formula Guide–Solid Coated—For choosing solid spot
colors for gloss or matte laminated paper bags, plastic, polyester, and
non-woven polypropylene bags.
Pantone PLUS CMYK or Pantone PLUS Color Bridge—Use to choose
colors that will be printed with 4-color process. Both of these guides come
coated or uncoated. Choose the one that corresponds with the bag type
referenced above.

ORDERING
We sell our products through a national network of promotional marketing
distributorships that specialize in creative marketing and custom-imprinted
merchandise. Please consult the Internet or phone directory for a
promotional products consultant near you.
All orders must be submitted in writing. Purchase orders and art may be
emailed to [email protected]. In the subject field of your email,
please include your P.O. number and company name. Please include a PDF
or JPEG mock-up specifying how your design should appear on the bag.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: BAG MAKERS acknowledges every order in writing.
Any changes to an order after receipt must be confirmed in writing and may
incur additional charges.
CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations must be in writing and are subject to all
incurred costs, including materials, set-up, plate, screen, and artwork charges.
CLAIMS/RETURN POLICY: Only unimprinted bags may be returned.
BAG MAKERS must be notified within 30 days and a Return Merchandise
Authorization number must be assigned by our Billing Department.
A 20% restocking fee applies for unimprinted bags as well as all original
freight and return freight charges.
CREDIT POLICY: For new accounts, a customer information form must accompany
your order. In most instances, it will be necessary for new orders to be pre-paid.
Please allow 5 working days for processing a credit application and trade
references. Orders will not ship without credit approval or prepayment. We
accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
OVER/UNDERRUN POLICY: Catalog quantities ship exact. For custom orders
refer to page 101.
PRODUCTION TIME
Production time begins after approval of your artwork and credit. Orders
that request larger-than-catalog quantities or multiple print locations/colors
will require extra production time. Please call for additional production times.
During peak production periods, BAG MAKERS may require extended
production times due to production capacity. BAG MAKERS will notify
customers if submitted orders require additional production time.
COLORVISTA:
• New Orders and Re-Orders: 6 working days after proof and credit approval.
SCREEN PRINT, FLEXO INK IMPRINT, and FOIL HOT-STAMP:
• New Orders: 4 working days after proof and credit approval.

IMPRINTING
Imprinting takes place on a bag which is already constructed. This means that
some restrictions, such as a fold or a gusset in the bag, may impact its printability
and available imprint area. In addition, a multicolor design requires the bag to pass
through the press an additional time for each color. A space requirement between
each color is required to accommodate for bag movement and color shifting that
cannot be avoided. COLORVISTA is not subject to this space requirement.

One corporation took a fresh approach for its
annual employee gift. Instead of t-shirts, the
company bought 10,000 Big Thunder® Totes
and 10,000 Thermo-O-Totes™ and gave each
employee several bags. The totes cost less
than apparel, but were just as functional and
well-received. An added benefit—the company
needed to hire new employees, so it used an
imprint with its logo and a message about
being a great place to work. The totes became

BAG MAKERS has implemented an extensive compliance program that continuously evaluates and
updates our products and processes for product safety. We certify that to the best of our knowledge our
products and coatings are in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008
(CPSIA), the Consumer Product Safety Act of 1972 (CPSA), California Proposition 65, and the Toxics in
Packaging Prevention Act (TIPPA). Supporting compliance documents are available upon request. As part
of our compliance with the legal requirements of the CPSIA, we have also implemented a comprehensive
product labeling and online recall tracking program pertaining to a core group of our products, those
which the Act considers could be potentially used by children under the age of 12. Please contact us for a
complete list of these products.
In addition, BAG MAKERS has earned full accreditation by the Quality Certification
Alliance (QCA), an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit accrediting organization
for the suppliers in the promotional products industry. We are committed to ensuring that
the bags we manufacture, import, and imprint conform to the highest degree of established
domestic and international standards regarding product safety, social compliance,
environmental stewardship, product quality, and supply chain security.

The Society of Plastics Industry (SPI) code for each of our
products is shown to the right. This code is a universal recycling
symbol with a corresponding number that identifies the plastic
composition of our bags. Our paper products carry the same
universal symbol as plastic; however, paper is not assigned a
number. You will find these symbols on product pages in this
catalog to identify the type of material used and to help you
determine the applicability of recycling in your area.
Across the United States, local collection facilities determine
what products they will accept and which methods of recycling
they will follow. Recycling programs for all of our bags may not
exist in your area. The best information can be obtained from
the collection and recycling facility in your area. The presence of
a recycling symbol does not necessarily mean that the product
or material will be accepted locally.
