New Books at the Library Come In and Check Out These New Books, & Great Holiday Gift Ideas! Tony Bennett By Tony Bennett with Robert Sullivan In this beautiful new book, richly illustrated with his own artwork, Tony takes the time to reflect on his career, and the inspiration that continues to infuse both his music and his art. And for everyone who loves Bennett’s gorgeous voice and elegant song stylings: an exclusive CD featuring his favorite tunes including some rare choices. Vogue by Norberto Angeletti & Alberto Oliva This elegant book is a sumptuous celebration of fashion from its highest and most successful arbiter in American periodicals. It is hard to deny the iconic status of Vogue or its exceptional prowess through the decades in defining a particular level of style, aided by a team of talented illustrators, photographers, models, writers, editors, and celebrities. Hemlines can relate to headlines, and this fashion magazine has been a barometer of culture throughout its history. An essential accessory for the coffee tables of Vogue and fashion aficionados everywhere. Illustrated 1776 by David McCullough This handsome new version of McCullough's blockbuster is a visual feast. The text is abridged and McCullough illustrates his riveting account of the most important year in the war that made America with maps, portraits and reproductions of broadsides and newspaper ads. Many famous period paintings and prints are included. Scattered throughout are vellum envelopes that hold facsimile reproductions. McCullough has recreated not just the excitement of 1776, but the thrill of an archival research trip as well. Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden & Hal Iggulden Intentionally old-fashioned and politically incorrect, this eclectic collection addresses the undeniable boy-appeal of certain facts and activities. Dozens of short chapters, in fairly random order, cover a wide range of topics in conversational prose. Content should appeal to many boys and even more so, nostalgic dads. Art of the Classical world in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Yale University Press Nearly 500 outstanding objects from the collection of the Department of Greek and Roman Art in the Metropolitan Museum are assembled in this generously illustrated publication. The volume includes a detailed history of the collection by Carlos A. Picón. An entry section includes an informative text about each object, along with a map for each chapter and a selection of drawings and details. Andy Warhol Prints Fourth ed. revised and expanded by Frayda Feldman & Claudia Defendi First published in 1985, this latest edition manages to be handsome while scholarly. In addition to 100 new illustrations, an added section covering Warhol's earliest work in the 1950s, and new essays by Donna De Salvo and Arthur Danto, proving that Warhol at least is enjoying more than his 15 minutes of fame. The importance and prominence of prints throughout Warhol's career justify the effort by his gallery to produce a definitive catalog. The War by Geoffrey C. Ward & Ken Burns This companion book to the duo's PBS documentary is chock-full of conventional wisdom, photographs, maps, and personal anecdotes, covering the war at home, as well as in the Pacific, Europe, and North Africa. page 3 Programs for Adults Create a Holiday Gift Basket WITH SHIRLEY FRAZIER TUESDAY • Nov. 13th • 7pm $15 per person, registration required Entrepreneur and author Shirley Frazier brings supplies and guides participants in creating gift baskets for special occasions.
