Remembering our ANZAC’s
On Tuesday 21st April the Marketing Department organized a High Tea in
honor of our ANZACs. As part of this event the Marketing Department
collected many stories shared from residents written whilst away from the
country. You are most welcome to visit the marketing office and read these
wonderful stories. Special thank to Marg and Lorraine for doing such a
fantastic job in assisting with decorations and ensuring all our guests who
attended this event had a memorable experience.

Kialla Gardens Village
Hello everyone! We know it’s really
Autumn when we see that the trees
in our village have donned their
autumn coloure. They are truly
beautiful.
We have recently said farewell to
Murray and Margaret Russell who
have moved to Acacia House and
also Elva Collins who has gone to
live in Melbourne. Our best wishes
go with you.
Cheers to – Rita Mathews who is
making steady progress after her
shoulder replacement, Fiona Fraser
who is home and improves slowly
and Max Trimble, who played pool
with such enthusiasm that he had
to have a pacemaker installed. Our
best wishes also to Gordon Calley
who is hospitalised at time of going
to press, and Dave Townsend has
not been the best either. Good
wishes to all our folk who are not
well or have experienced
bereavements lately.
Barbara Woodman and her
daughter Wendy are going to the
U.K. for all of May; Barbara will
attend a school reunion, which will
be a wonderful experience for them
both.
Since our last edition, Joan Hanna
has had a wonderful 90th birthday
party. (She excused herself from
playing tennis on that day!!) Happy
birthday to all who have had or are
having special birthdays and/or
anniversaries.
Stewart and I have just celebrated
our 65th wedding anniversary. You
wonder where all those years went
and then, in our case, we look at
the photo of our 32 direct
descendants (with partners) and we
know!!
My thanks to Don Horsey who
provided the photos and the
information to go with them for this
segment.
Edna Harling, for her 100th birthday, received
from the Collingwood President, Eddie
McGuire, a guernsey signed by all the players!

Our mystery bus trips have been
very successful with wonderful
insights provided by Graham on
local areas; ie peach picking at
Cornish’s orchard at Cobram. Our
scenic drives have also been well
attended.
Our tour coordinator, Edie, enjoying the sun at
Yarrawonga.
Best wishes to all until next time.

Banksia Lodge
Hello again from all at Banksia
Lodge. Once again we have had a
busy time implementing as many
activities as possible for the
enjoyment of our Residents.
Morning melodies at Barooga and
Musical morning tea in Mooroopna,
provided by the Mooroopna
Secondary College who are so
talented, have been most enjoyable
and well attended by our residents.
These outings complement our
great array of music provided by
ALL of our wonderful volunteers.
Peg and Edith enjoying musical morning tea
performed by Mooroopna Secondary College
Students
Ella enjoying a delicious morning tea
Morning tea at the Tatura Bakery
was delightful especially tasting the
award winning vanilla slices.
Our shopping trips to Big W proved
to be very popular and enjoyable.
Residents happily browse the shops
and enjoy a cake & coffee before
heading home.

Our men are continuing to frequent
the Men’s Shed and enjoy the
various activities organised. The
recent bus trip to Barmah Forest
watching the woodcutters followed
by a picnic lunch was the talk
around the dinner table for days.
To get in touch with the 2015 AFL
football season we had the pleasure
of Carlton football players visiting
our facility. The Residents and staff
were very impressed by these very
likable young men who were happy
to pose for photos and speak to
residents no matter what their
team affiliations.
love and great concentration by our
card group led by our talented
volunteer Margaret.
A big thanks to all of the catering
staff for cooking our bacon & egg
breakfasts, this is very much
appreciated by residents and staff.
Recently we have had some
reminiscing days. These have
involved groups of people bringing
to life their memories of certain
venues that used to exist in our
region. For example discussion of
the local cafes called “Hurco” and
“Neo” provided great enjoyment to
those remembering these times. All
involved enjoyed milkshakes,
spiders and ice creams provided by
the staff.
Bob deep in conversation with Carlton Football
team member
Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday
and St Patrick’s Day have come and
gone with different celebrations
enjoyed for each event.
Celebratory cards for all these
occasions have been made with
Fr Frank enjoying an ice cream cone whilst
reminiscing about our past local famous cafes
World Day of Prayer was celebrated
at Banksia Lodge again and
enjoyed by all who attended and
we wish to take this opportunity to

thank all of the church groups and
lay preachers who provide this
wonderful service to us.
The trip to TAFE College to
celebrate International Women’s
Day to hear the guest speakers was
very enlightening for those who
attended. The afternoon tea gave
the Residents the opportunity to
speak to people from other cultures
about their personal and
professional life experiences.

Many of you would have heard of
the “Lost Shepparton website”. We
have been very fortunate to have
Geoff Allemand provide two slide
shows recently at Banksia. These
were very well attended and
provided an opportunity for
residents to relive and tell their own
stories of local interests and areas.

Waratah Lodge
We have been on the move with
bus trips to Emerald Bank, Big W
each month, Billabong Cafe,
Mooroopna Golf Club for lunch,
Riverside Plaza, RSL, and a visit to
Hakea to meet some Carlton
Football players and had a lovely
afternoon tea with them and
residents from Hakea and Acacia.
That morning, we cooked pancakes
for morning tea as it was Shrove
Tuesday which we consumed out in
our new garden area.
We visited the Chocolate Apple
Factory for morning tea and some
of us couldn't resist the inevitable.
It was the week of Easter after all!
The Easter Bunny made a surprise
visit to deliver Easter Eggs to all
residents at Waratah on Easter
Sunday.
On the home front we had a trivia
competition for Australia Day
celebrations and as a result we now
have 2 teams. Team Emu's and
Team Platypus. Since then Platypus
have won every time but Emu's are
creeping up. We don't need a
laughing club....this is it!!!
Valentine’s Day saw two residents
make cupcakes. The ladies agreed
it was great to be cooking again
then others joined in to decorate
them ready for afternoon tea.
We also ventured to the Nagambie
Senior Melodies and had a lovely
lunch with great music while
enjoying the view out to the lake
from our table. Very nice to have
"lunch with a view".
We had a rowdy afternoon with
Robbie Crawford on St Patricks Day
with a good old sing-along with
some Irish songs and then tasted
"Paddy's" refreshing green cocktails
before afternoon tea.
We had an invite to Westside to
hear the Mooroopna Secondary
College perform music and songs
from musicals followed by a lovely
morning tea.
Aileen and Lesley clinking their Paddy’s
cocktails on St Patrick’s Day

We were able to hear Don McCrabb
from Woodturners gave us a talk on
his passion and see some of the
things he has made from beautiful
wood.
Our love of all music is supported
by musician’s Dennis, Frank, Janis
and an occasional segment by the
Ukulele Group. Our karaoke DVDs
and musical DVDs get a good go in
between times.
Footy Tipping is up and running
with Marj picking 8 is a good start.
All our activities are running
smoothly and church has resumed
for the year.
Don McCrabb with Lolene and Thelma
We also had Lois McCrabb (no
relation) bring along her button
collection then on another day we
had Dierdre and Lorraine bring
along their quilts they have made
over the years.
Amazing I say, not just their
displays but coming and giving us
the opportunity to see and share
their passions.
Our Resident meetings have some
families attending which is a nice
way for families to hear "what we
are up to"!!
We are looking forward to a floral
demonstration prior to Mothers
Day. We have made Poppy's for
Anzac Day. Birthday cakes keep
coming to celebrate our resident's
birthdays. We love having visitors
and welcome our new residents ...
Ian, Isabel, and Bob.
Sing Australia came to the Activity
Centre and all residents at Rodney
Park were invited and we raised
$90 dollars to help Sing Australia
along. A very big thanks to all.
Brekkies with Geoff the Chef are
great mornings and the smell of
bacon and eggs waft through the
facility.
Dot nursing a chook at Wunghnu Cafe with

I suppose we will be missing a few
residents over the Winter months,
as those who are able will be
heading North for the Winter
sunshine, happy travelling folks.

Tarcoola Village
I hope everyone had a very
pleasant Easter. The weather has
been quite good in our area, which
has been good for campers and
also the Tennis Tournament here in
Shepparton.
Tarcoola Village has been quiet
over the Holiday weekend; lovely
for those who prefer a bit of quiet
time. By the time people read this
we will have had our 4th sausage
sizzle for this year and probably the
4th pie and pastie lunch.
Both events continue to be fairly
popular with the residents of the
village.
Our Tarcoola Support Group works
well as a group, but age is catching
up on a few of us. We will be
seeking more new members at the
next Annual General Meeting on 8th
July.
If you have good health and remain
fairly active, how about putting
forward a nomination for
membership, either to Secretary
Edie Poliness or yours truly Jim
Woods. We would be pleased to
have you on Board.
The AGM will be held on the 8th
July.
I hope you all have a warm Winter.
Catch you all down the Wallaby

Tarcoola Bus Trips
The days are racing past, and we
wonder where the time has gone.
So nice to have some lovely
Autumn weather, makes you want
to get out in the garden, or go on a
trip!
Our February trip was a great
success, when we had 31 people go
to Yarrawonga, and we had a lovely
cruise and a barbeque and salads
for lunch on board. We cruised
around the lake, looking at all the
beautiful houses built close to the
water, where people can just walk
down to the front of their garden,
and throw in a line, maybe get a
fish for dinner.
Then on the way home we went to
the Big Strawberry (again, we can’t
go past without calling in) and all
enjoyed our ice creams, strawberry
pancakes etc.
In March, we had 29 people go to
the quaint Swanpool theatre. This is
such a lovely old theatre, which a
group of interested volunteers are
maintaining. We had Devonshire
tea to start with and then went into
the theatre, and the program began
with the National Anthem, with the
picture of the Queen on her horse.
What memories that brought back.
Of course we all stood up for the
National Anthem.
Then we saw some of the old
advertising slides for a variety of
businesses, most of which we could
remember. Then a
Charlie Chaplain movie,
which had us all in
stitches. Then we had
interval, and the ‘lolly
lady’ came around with
bags of sweets on her
tray, just as they did years ago,
and lastly we viewed a lovely old
film “Roman Holiday” starring
Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.
Then we enjoyed a lovely two
course meal. This day out was
something different, and everybody
had a great time reminiscing about
what we had just seen.
On our way home we called in at
the Market Place (again, can’t go
past without calling in). Those who
don’t have cars love to get out and
look at the shops.
Our May trip is to the Violet Town
Market, with lunch at Euroa, and
then visit The Rockery at
Longwood.

ACACIA HOUSE
Hello everyone 
St Patrick’s Day
Our residents once again made
mats with the cheeky Leprechaun
asking many jokes. This was great
to see the residents asking each
other and trying to trick them with
the answers.
Our mascot was
Bella, who played
the part very well,
and the residents
enjoyed the
attention given to
each other.
Bus Trip
Our trip to Barmah State Park and
State Forest.
We visited the Dharnya Centre, but
found it is now closed to the public.
Such a beautiful centre going to
waste. The men enjoyed seeing all
the old machinery and trucks. We
enjoyed morning tea by the river
side and lunch in the town of
Barmah. We travelled onto the
township of Nathalia for afternoon
tea and ice cream. We had such a
fabulous day.
60th Wedding Anniversary
Joan and John Morrow celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary on
9th April with all our residents. Joan
waits to see John arrive each day,
they still display that twinkle in
their eyes.
Our surprise of the day was from
Mavis and Carmel who danced the
Highland Fling. Our residents
enjoyed making our berets and
looking very Irish.
11
Easter
We made stained glass eggs to
display on the windows - they look
beautiful with the sun shining in. It
gives you a feeling of excitement
and peace within one’s self. We
also made egg holders and to the
residents surprise they became
filled on Easter Sunday.
Preparing for Anzac
We have all been painting and
making poppies, banners and
gathering stories from our
residents, this has been rewarding
and a learning experience for all. It
certainly makes us stop and think
and appreciate what the forces did
for Our Country.
We salute and honour you.
Bill our volunteer has been
encouraging our carpet bowls team
with great rewards. They enjoy
their weekly visit to Hakea. Soon
Bill will be travelling to escape our
Winter and if you would like to help
us at Acacia it would be very much
appreciated.
Our Rosary Group has tripled, they
look forward to seeing and
receiving from Kathy, Carmel and
Fiona, sometimes one or two are
held up with other commitments. If
you would like to help our St
Brendan’s Ladies please call in
Tuesday Morning at 10am.
Valentine’s Day
Chocolate and treats are our
favourite and memories of that first
kiss come flooding back, we all hold
these close to our hearts. We all
enjoy decorating and celebrating
this special occasion.
Once again, thank you to our
dedicated Volunteer’s. Our
residents look forward to seeing
your beautiful faces, the
enrichment you all give to them is
overwhelming to see. Our new
ladies are still coming back with
such enthusiasm. We thank Karen,
Sam and Margaret but we need
more of you wonderful people who
may be able to give 1 hour per
week, please contact our Volunteer
Coordinator Kevin Grover on 5832

HAKEA LODGE
We hope that everyone had a great
Easter break and enjoyed some
special time with family and loved
ones.
Julie & Kylie having fun with the Carlton players
We would like to welcome our
newest residents to Hakea, Mrs
June Bradbury, Mrs Rennie Pell, Mr
Doug Anderson & Mr Peter Laws.
We hope that you all enjoy your
time with us at Hakea.
Since our last edition of the Village
Voice our residents have been on a
few outings for lunch at the R.S.L.
and enjoyed the musical talents of
some of our local artists.
Mid February saw a visit to Hakea
of some players from the Carlton
Football Club. The afternoon was
enjoyed by residents and staff
alike.
Olive enjoyed
a dance with
one of the
players
saying it was
great to be
up dancing
again.
The players happily signed scarves,
shirts etc. for anyone wanting an
autograph along with many happy
snaps being taken.
Residents also went out to the
Market Place where some sat and
enjoyed a coffee and cake while
others went happily off making
some much needed purchases.
World Day of Prayer was again
celebrated at Hakea on the 10th of
March with a good attendance by
residents.
Our bus was full again with
residents eager to travel to
Mooroopna for a Musical Morning
Tea. The audience was treated to
an array of classical music played
on a wide selection of instruments
by approximately 50 students from
the Mooroopna Secondary College.
Hakea ran a small Easter raffle with
proceeds going towards purchasing
a Digital Photo frame on which we
can load photos from our outings
and events within our Lodge.
Raffle winners were
1st Place: Helen Norman,
2nd Place: Marree Briggs
3rd Place: Glenys Pell,
4th Place: Marg Cross,

Admissions
For this edition of Village Voice I
thought I would update you on the
January Article regarding some of
the Independent Living Unit
residents.
Deakin University had invited
Tarcoola and Rodney Park residents
to volunteer for their Physical and
Cognitive Exercise Intervention.
Trail (Pace IT). There were 13
hardy souls who put their hands up!
Over a two day period
each participant was
put through a number
of physical and
mental exercises
ranging from
resistance exercises to memory
tests on a computer! Some people
were quite surprised with how well
they accomplished some of these
tests!
The results were taken away and
then every site (from across the
whole trial) were randomised to
select the sites that would go on to
participate in the next step of the
trial. Unfortunately our group was
not selected but still are performing
a vital role as a “control” group. So
well done to those who
volunteered!
The other area we had been asked
to participate in was the Pine Lodge
Cemetery Master Plan. The
consultant came on site to Tarcoola
and met with interested residents
of Hakea and the ILU's. A lot of
useful feedback was gained, also
the Men’s Shed took a trip out to
the current cemetery to have a
14
look, take photos for the
consultants and fill in
questionnaires.
enjoyed with cheese & crackers
along with some late Roma
tomatoes.
The Draft Master Plan will be
presented to the Shepparton City
Council in May. So thank you to the
residents who gave their time and
thoughts.
The men have been enjoying
refurnishing an old pump engine
which was started up for the first
time last week. If you have any old
unneeded mechanical gear laying
around in your shed that you are
looking at getting rid of, please let
us know as I am sure the fellers
would love to tinker away at them.
As I said in the last edition “as a
group the residents of Shepparton
Villages have wisdom and skills that
others see as highly valuable!” Well
done!

Bus Trips:
January was lunch at the local
Shepparton RSL in which we lost
(mislaid) someone in the pokies
room for a while (unfortunately
without a jackpot win).
February was lunch at the Benalla
Bowls Club with a detour to the
Pine Lodge Cemetery to take part in
the Pine Lodge Cemetery
Masterplan Project. The fellas
presented short presentations by
camera to be given to the council
for ideas on the new extension of
the cemetery. For taking part in
the survey the Men’s Shed where
given two cameras as a thank-you
gift.
March we stopped by to give our
Head Chef (Geoff Scales) a hand
wood-cutting in the Barmah Forest.
Unfortunately for Geoff (or timely
for us) we arrived just as he was
cutting the last few pieces. So we
ate our fresh cut sandwiches under
the large Red Gums while he loaded
the last pieces onto the trailer.
This month we’ll head out to one of
our favourite spots in Echuca for
Fish ‘n’ Chips and enjoy the
weather before Winter is on us
again.
Anyone wishing to volunteer some
time at the Men’s Shed, (no special
skill required) please contact me by

Autumn
Hi all, this is the time of year being Autumn that there are a few jobs to do
before Winter. In the vegetable patch all of your Summer vegies should be
just about finished and the soil turned and a good application of organic
matter applied to the soil before the Winter vegies are planted.
As the Autumn trees start to color up this is a good time to be going down to
the local nursery and having a look at the different trees for their Autumn
colour’s. (Just a reminder these are not to be planted in the ground at any
of our villages but some would be good for pots). There are some good
Japanese maples or asters that would make good pot specimens.
Also before Winter I give the lawns a feed of a high potash to harden the
lawns to avoid damage from our winter frosts, and l also drop the mower one
notch to try and stop the winter weeds from seeding in the lawns. I find this
is also a good time to check and replace blades on your pruning gear ready
for the winter pruning which starts in June.
Recently we received a trailer load of plants
for our Village gardens donated from the
Billabong Nursery. I hope you will enjoy
these additions to the gardens.
That’s all for now, next will be the busy
Winter period in the garden
Happy Gardening!

Rodney Park Birds
Weird Summer
We got through summer, as unusual as it was!
Little blasts of heat towards the end and cool in
the early stages. This confused the birds into
thinking about having another nesting; but
thankfully they resisted. Just as well! The
weather suddenly turned hot and would have
cooked the eggs. Pardalote eggs are a bit small
for toast!
The pardalotes had their 3rd sitting and as usual
had difficulty getting rid of the kids from home. At our box, the last fledgling
would poke his/her head out to look around and say “Nah! It looks too
scary”. This went on for 3 days before mum and dad had an empty nest.
Sound familiar!
They still pop back on a regular basis to check that home is still there. A
couple of birds may arrive and argue with each other before one pokes its
head into the entrance for a look-see, then away to the trees again. No
wonder they need lots of insects to fuel their little engines, they never stop
moving.
The plants in the gardens have also reacted to the conditions by blooming at
different times and with varying growth rates (giving Sean and Adrian some
soul searching moments). Azaleas commenced flowering in February! The
Australian shrubs still provided plenty of nectar for all the bird life at Rodney
Park. The resident sparrows rip the flower off so they can get at the sweet
fluid. They make a mess of the flower heads though!
The tree surgeons arrived and gave some of the trees a “short back and
sides”. The birds were lost for a few days trying to find their lookout
branches. They soon sorted that out and got back to the business of feeding
and protecting territories.
It was delightful watching a pair of wagtails stirring the
lawns for insect rises. They never ceased doing the
“Chubby Checker Twist” as they chased invisible
Busy Willie.
18
Insects. Boy they are quick off the starting blocks when one stirs!
Flocks of corellas continue to screech and chatter their course to feeding
grounds as they pass over the village on their way to the sporting ovals.
Noisy little devils!
Hopefully winter is kind to us all and spring welcomes us into warmth again.

Boronia House
Boronia Residents have enjoyed some great movies and music over the past
few months.
St Patrick’s Day was celebrated with a lovely green cake. Thanks again to the
main kitchen staff.
Boronia Residents recently enjoyed a hot bacon and eggs breakfast, this was
well attended with just over half of the residents taking advantage of the
yummy food on offer.
Some lucky Residents attended a bus trip to Tatura Hot Bread for morning
tea and then a stop off at Anne’s place to give her an award winning vanilla
slice and wish her well.

Grevillea Lodge
Hi and welcome back from all at Grevillea. We hope you are enjoying the nice
cool change in the weather, it has been a lovely reprieve after our hot spell
as Autumn falls in with warm sunny days and cool sleeping nights.
We have been busy with lots of activities. We have been on scenic drives
around Mooroopna and Tatura showing us how these towns are changing
with lots of building transforming our country side into housing estates.
Another trip over to Violet Town giving all the opportunity to see the
beautiful colour of the Autumn leaves.
On a sad note we recently said goodbye to our Care Manager
Jacinta Munro. All at Grevillea wish Jacinta all the best. This
gives us all from Grevillea the opportunity to welcome to the
team our new Care Manager Debbie Cronin.
St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated with Glenda singing Irish
songs and green jelly slice for afternoon tea. Janice helped
us celebrate Easter with some Easter Hymns, they were so beautifully sung,
we were reaching for our tissues. Easter Bunny arrived handing out eggs and
we enjoyed an Easter Cake decorated by the main kitchen.

We hope you all had a lovely Easter and caught up with family and friends.
We also hope the Easter Bunny found you and left some yummy surprises.
There have been a number of events at the Activity Centre in recent times:
Joe Clarke celebrated his 90th birthday with a large gathering of family and
friends and a good time was had by all. We were entertained by “Sing
Australia” group. “World Day of Prayer” hosted by Life Church, also took
place at the Centre.
On Friday 10th April we held a morning tea for our gardener Sean and his
fiancée Emily prior to their wedding on the 18th April. On the wedding day we
took two buses of residents to witness this wonderful event. We wish Sean
and Emily all the best for their future life together.
We are looking forward to a bus trip to Boort to see amazing sculptures by
the “Spanner Man”.
On the first Friday of each month we run a bus to the Undera Hotel for an
evening meal. Everyone is welcome. See Bud Oster to book a place.
Several people recently attended a musical morning tea at Mooroopna
Secondary College by a very talented teacher and many students which
proved to be an excellent and enjoyable outing.
We wish all those experiencing poor health a speedy recovery. In recent
months several ILU residents have moved to other accommodation/ care. We
are sorry to see them go and wish them well.
We welcome several new residents to our village and hope you will be very
happy here.
Our monthly meals have been well patronised. Our faithful band of helpers
continue to assist with the preparation each month. At our recent meal we
were privileged to have guest speaker Barry Campbell enlighten us on the

Our Easter Basket raffle was drawn and the lucky winners were Audrey Carr,
Tess Milne and our gardener Sean. Hope you all enjoyed your goodies. We
are fortunate to enjoy fresh fruit on a regular basis, thanks to the effort of
Geoff Freer and the generous orchardists who provide the fruit. We are very
appreciative of your kindness.
The exercise group continues to meet each Tuesday at 10.00am in the
Activity Centre and our numbers have grown. New participants are always
welcome.
Our Ukulele Group has resumed practice each Tuesday and has an occasional
gig at Waratah. Croquet, pool, cards, craft groups continue to operate at the
village.
Our gardener Sean recently got married and 22
residents from Rodney Park attended Sean &
Emily's wedding at Lindara Resort, Moama. We
had seats with Shepparton Villages Reserved
signs on them for the ceremony which was held
in a marquee on the bank of the Murray River.
Both families made us very welcome. A group
photo with the Bride & Groom was insisted on
before we were allowed to leave.
Until next time

Susanne's Hair Care in - “LITTLE SNIPPETS”
Well it's been a busy few months. Debbie, Lorraine and myself headed down
to Melbourne to the Hair and Beauty Expo. What a great day. It was great
to see new styles and products. Lunch was by the Yarra and retail therapy at
Discount Factory Outlet (DFO).

Of course it's been busy in the Salon's with the Easter perms and colours too.
Also my house has started (slab is down) lots of running around checking out
colours and flooring and so forth.
Maureen has had a spell in hospital, she is on the mend now and will be back
to work in May. Enjoy the rest Maureen.
We have Michelle now working in the Salon at Tarcoola Village, Activity
Centre. Michelle is married to Anthony and has 3 Children - so a "Big
Welcome" to Michelle.
Also helping out in the Salon is Mim Guilfoyle turning
100 this year, she is taking out Margarethe Dent's
rollers. Margarethe is turning 99 this year.
Wonderful isn't it!
So it's time to snuggle in for the long cold winter keep warm, healthy and happy.
Don't forget we hairdressers are not far away even if
it's only for a chat.
Take care until next Village Voice

Two Old Guys at Dinner
An elderly couple has dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the
wives leave the table and go into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were
talking, and one says, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was
really great. I would recommend it very highly."
The other man asks, "What is the name of the restaurant?" The first man
thinks and thinks and finally asks, What is the name of that flower you give
to someone you love? You know... The one that's red and has thorns. Do you
mean a rose? "Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He then turns towards
the kitchen and yells, "Rose, what's the name of that
restaurant we went to last night?"

"Old" Is When...
A sexy babe catches your fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door.
You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go
along.
You are cautioned to slow down by the doctor instead of by the police.
"Getting a little action" means I don't need to take any fiber today.
"Getting lucky" means you find your car in the parking lot.
An "all-nighter" means not getting up to pee!

Eating Out
A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald's. He
noticed that they had ordered one meal, and an extra drink cup. As he
watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then
counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them.
Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front
of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with
her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would
allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn't have to split
theirs. The old gentleman said, "Oh, no. We've been married 50 years, and
everything has always been and will always be shared 50/50." The young
man then asked the wife if she was going to eat, and she replied, "Not yet.
It's his turn with the teeth."

Aspects of Pain
What is this thing we call our pain
Often it is a fact of Life
Eased somewhat by popping pills
When the pain is life.
There’s the pain of the body
When everything seems to ache
Then you develop a migraine
Oh! For goodness sake.
What about when you have a fall
Spread eagled on the floor
A broken wrist or a broken hip
What else has fate in store.
Physical pain may be eased
But loss in another part
For only time can really soothe
The pain of a broken heart.
The pain of giving birth
Is a pain we soon ignore
In the joy of that moment
The precious Life we have and more.
Now you know a smile is not painful
And humor can brighten such a lot
So let us count our many blessings
Whether it’s painful or not.
