Paco, after having studied piano at the Conservatory of music, finds him self unemployed. His mother advises him to get him a job in the police, but his total inaptitude finds him involved in a criminal investigation. The police commissioner, Cammarota, is on the tracks of a dangerous killer of the Camorra known as O’ Fantasma (The Ghost) because no one has ever seen his face. The commissioner is looking for a cop who will pretend to be a piano player, to infiltrate the Lollo Love’s music band - a well known singer, to liven up the wedding of Antonietta Stornaienco, daughter of the boss of Somma Vesuviana. O’ Fantasma (The Ghost) will probably attend the wedding. Anything worse could have happend to Paco, he will end up risking his own life, playing music he hates dressed as a peasant… Unexpectedly this will be the turning point of his life.. 4 Song’e Napule Director’s note This movie comes from an idea that Giampaolo Morelli had many years ago. We talked with the producer Luciano Martino, who was immediately enthusiastic about this idea. He strongly believed that this one was the movie he had to achieve after “L’Arrivo di Wang” and “Paura 3d”. We are proud to have fulfilled the last movie of a man that we consider the most important italian producer and our Maestro. We worked with Luciano for a short time, he has meant a lot to us giving us what we needed: an actual direction. With “Song’e Napule” we are back to the detective and Police movies, the ones that we have always loved most. We wanted to describe Naples and the one of a kind phenomenon of the “Melodic Singers”, very popular and worshipped in Naples, but totally unknown even a few miles outside of it During the shooting we fell in love with Naples and we decided to describe it as no-one does anymore today: in particular the beauty of its city center as Ettore Scola and Nanny Loy did in the past. Manetti Bros. 5 Song’e Napule Manetti Bros. Antonio and Marco Manetti. both from Rome have always been passionate about cinema, they are distinguished for their love for the 70’s and 80’s movies. Antonio , the youngest of them, shows in his movies, the Italian unreality that spills and stuns with a strong pop component. He is a director, a screenwriter and a producer. With his brother Marco, director, he returns after 20 yrs to the pages of Italian cinema for its visual provocations. The two know how to get the best out of the actors around them (usually also linked in friendship ) to tell the stories that want. Their movies are of the highest technical quality, enriched with suggestions and details, in all of them they insert elements of their private lives binding with the italian realities: immigration , illegal immigrants , drugs and crime. They are seen as the kings of Italian crime story, they are excellent in contamination that characterize all their films. The partnership with his brother Marco: After having studied screenwriting with McKee, he joins his brother Marco in the direction of some theater performances and music videos, as the Manetti Bros. Together they start directing music videos such as “Super cafone” and “La mossa del giaguaro” by Er Piotta and “Solo una volta”,”Gelido” and “Mi piaci” by Alex Britti. They start to work in television directing the videos of the guests of “Studio 18” by Serena Dandini. Their work on the Internet is very interesting, including the possibility to download a series of mini episodes entitled SCUM - the Web series. Cinema by Manetti Bros.: Antonio arrives to feature-films, joined by his brother , directing with Alex Infascelli , Giorgio Bellocchio , Asia Argento and many other directors an episodic film horror entitled “De Generazione” (1994), the episode directed by the Manetti Bros is entitled “Consegna a domicilio” (Delivery). Then they direct the comedy Torino Boys ( 1997) , the story of a group of fans of Turin Nigerians who go to Rome for a Uefa Cup match , unfortunately, their inexperience is still obvious. So , after signing the screenplay of “Il Segreto del Giaguaro” (2000) ,they pass up the direction of a new feature film and inspired by the book " Dracula " by Bram Stoker , give birth to “Zora la Vampira” (2000) an ultra-modern version of the most famous vampire of the world. Tired of drinking the blood of the local farmers , Dracula leaves Transylvania for Rome where Zora meets an , underground artist who will change his life ... excuse me death! They are supported by Carlo Verdone, and close friends with Valerio Mastandrea and Enrico Silvestrin, Antonio and Marco directs them in “Piano 17”, a very dark thriller. After being associate producers of “Il bosco fuori” (2006) directed by Gabriele Albanesi , they go back to television where they run the miniseries “Ispettore Coliandro” , born from the pages of Carlo Lucarelli and with the TV movie “Crimini” They return to the big screen in 2012 with “L’Arrivo di Wang”, a post-modern thriller written by both of them, and the horror movie “Paura 3D“.
