The adidas Originals Blue collection is a premium apparel and footwear
line intertwining adidas’s impeccable lifestyle heritage with a luxury street
aesthetic. Mixing functional sport utilitarianism with street attitude, the
FW13 collection perfectly combines the two sartorial disciplines by focusing on versatile trainers and clothes. A sub-cultural edge is thrown into the
mix, giving adidas Originals Blue an attitude worthy of any street corner in
London, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo or New York.
Prints clash but the colours match; adidas Originals Blue fuse all-over
graphics, rock iconology, hip-hop culture, subversive camouflage and patterns from the animal kingdom. Innovative details, such as taped seams
and technical zips, and high-tech water-repellent materials keep you
on track. Classic basketball uniforms share the court with running gear
re-appropriated for inner-city life.

As a key print running throughout the
collection, the Cheetah pattern sums up
FW13; agility, elegance and speed all characterise both the animal and the adidas
Originals Blue brand. The Cheetah is the
world’s fastest animal - this is speed in
nature’s purest form. This idea has been
translated into the adidas Originals Blue
range, a clear nod towards the brand’s
sport heritage, but the brown and black
dots on the beige background also tells
another story, they represent the modernday street rockers, testifying to their attitude and energy.

Basketball culture has always played a pivotal part
of the adidas aesthetic, and in the Originals Blue
collection for FW13 this is visible through high top
trainers and 33-printed apparel. Worn by several
iconic pros across the decades, the number ‘33’ is
a legendary number in basketball. The styles and
prints pay homage to those players while also referencing adidas’s commitment to street basketball,
back yard courts and the art of shooting hoops.

boasts clever details and advanced wardrobe
solutions; taped seams, bonded eyelets and
technical zippers improve the usability, while
Teflon® coated track tops, water-repellent pop
chinos made out of broken twill and zip hoodies in heavyweight French terry keeps you dry.
Other adidas Originals Blue material highlights
include Quick Dry fabrics and Climalite, which
is partly made out of recycled polyester and
quickly transports body moisture to the outside of the garment.

As part of the foundation for the adidas Originals
Blue collection, the trainer collection combines modern shapes with vintage styles. Centred around basketball and running, the trainers include the male
high top Rivalry, and a wedge version for the girls.
The Tech Super 2.0 is a stylish lightweight running
shoe with as much attitude as speed. But the real
gem is the City Marathon PT trainer, which is a never-seen-before style unearthed from the adidas archives. Produced as an experimental test trainer over
30 years ago, the pair has been hiding in the attic of
adidas’s Herzo headquarters in Germany. Finally,
three decades later, the prototype has been let out of
the box on to the streets, where they belong.

The modified army camouflage patterns
in the FW13 collection draw inspiration
from the military’s vast archives of disruptive pattern materials. Originally designed to make you blend in with nature,
the camouflage is here re-imagined
for metropolitan lifestyles: Woodland
camo feature on coats and shoes, and
the classic Rain camouflage pattern is
transformed into a monochrome needle
pattern on MA-1 bombers. Few other
prints command such respect, in the
forest as well as on the streets, as camouflage and that’s why it’s an integral
part of the adidas Originals Blue DNA.
